You did amazing work on this! It is like my dream come true. I first heard this in 1986 at the age of 31. Then I bought the movie. There is something so ethereal about this, it transports me and fills me with tranquility. One of my friends taped the music for me for my chronic insomnia. I slept with this for years. Another beautiful movie is "The Enchanted Garden". Check it out some time. Thank you again, I really appreciate this.

@@kitraestudio I see your point because at the time Jerry Goldsmith did the original soundtrack and this was before the modern technology we have now so I agree that the Tangerine Dream version is better not to say that Jerry's was bad either.

@@timothyrenar5498 Golsmith's score on the original cut of the film was incredible. There was no reason to replace it. That was just studio interference, but Tangerine Dream did a great job making their music fit the American cut of the film like a glove. Both scores are masterpieces, but as far as the two cuts of the film, I think the longer original cut is better.
@timothyrenar5498 Жыл бұрын
@@kitraestudio Well like I mentioned above with the technology we have now it's easy for for composers to download the entire score including extras that weren't used in the movie because we are in the digital world now instead of the analog back in the 80's and prior but I'm sure if the technology we have now was around back then I'm sure either Jerry Goldsmith or Tangerine Dream wouldn't of had any problems downloading the entire score at that time.

If by "anyone" you mean people younger than 20 years old then sure. But everyone who grew up in the 80's or 90's already knew "dungeon synth"is nothing new. We've watched films like this one, or have played might and magic or any of the fantasy games like the Might and Magic series the Legend of Kyrandia series, The Legacy of Kain series, etc. It's just an age gap thing. Funny how everything 80's became popular again.

I only included the TD music they composed here, but I love that Gilmour/Ferry song. There is a pop version of the Unicorn Theme TD recorded with a female vocalist that was awful, so I am glad they did not use that for the credits. About 83 minutes of TD music was used in the film, and almost all of that is here. The extra, non-film soundtrack music here is mostly the reworked versions of the same music cues from the official soundtrack, and a couple of extended sections from the 1986 live concert performances.

It was more pressure from Universal than something Ridley wanted to do. Specifically president Sid Sheinberg, who thought American kids would not like it. I think the studio thought TD would do a rock and roll soundtrack, like they had just done for the Tom Cruise film Risky Business. Thankfully TD did not do that and we have this fantastic score. Scott has said the score took three weeks to do, but Edgar Froese of TD said it actually took them two months.
