I remember when I was new to the pokemon franchise and Pokemon X was my first pokemon game. I beat the game and decided to catch more pokemon for the pokedex. Then I accidentally encountered Articuno and it fled. I eventually caught it. And this was one of the videos that helped me for the hunt for Articuno. Great video, TyranitarTube! FOR THOSE WONDERING: 1. Froakie-moltrese Fennikin-zapdos Chespin-ardicuno 2. It takes 11 encounters to drive it to the cave 3. Quick ball, dusk ball, ultra ball, timer ball in that order. 1 quick ball, 9 dusk balls, 10 ultra balls, and a gorgeous 3 timer balls for a bonus 2x catch rate and more so if hes in the red. (This is approximate, i caught him with an ultra ball (ok, 40 ultra balls) so dont expect to catch it with the first timer ball. 4. Route 14. Max repels, bike. Just keep trying, dont pay attention to where he is, just keep going, you WILL find it, and everytime you encounter it, SAVE. You dont want to do what i did and break your thumb off cause you raged wothout saving, ejected the cart, and had to encounter it 10 more times (21 total). It sucked.

The method of going from Route 4 to Santalune City to encounter your Legendary Bird is obsolete as of March 2016, if you've applied the latest Pokemon XY updates. It was probably patched/updated a while ago and I haven't noticed until now.

Will the birds nature change if you soft-reset and battle him again, or is it set from the moment it appears for the first time? Also, don't forget to use O-power Capture Power. That will help!

I've seen my Zapdos before. But I try your method of biking back and forth between that city and that route and he does not show. I've gone back and forth at least a dozen times now, no Zapdos encounters. And I bike the whole length of the grass patch there back and forth 3-4 times as well each time. What all has to be done before getting the legendary bird?

I just got Zapdos yesterday. Also i will give you tips how to easily catch the Legendary Birds. 1. Make sure your pokemons in your party are lower than Level 70. 2. Do not use the Lumi Cab or Fly or the bird will go to another place. 3. Always use the bicycle and Max Repel. Thats all!

WAIT! I HAVE AN IDEA! 1. Get a lot of Poke Miles. 2. Go to that Poke Miles guy in Luminose City. 3. Go Buy a Master Ball. 4. Encounter your bird 10 times to get to Sea Spirit's Cave. 5. Encounter it for the last time and use the Master Ball in the first turn. 6. Enjoy your easiest catch ever.

To give anyone else an idea of what it took .... My legendary bird is Zapdos.. for me, It took about 100 Super Repels going in and out of Route 4 (i had only seen it once prior)... i fought it at the Sea Spirits Den using my Parasect cause it has false swipe and spore :) it took around 20 Luxury balls to catch Zapdos. i realize the catch rate of luxury balls is as low as a normal pokeball, but i love the black looking ball and just had to ^.^

right after watching this video I picked up my old pokemon y game. haven't played it in forever. I spent around 37 hours playing the game, beating it, catching a few of the rares, then stopped playing. I turn it on, leave the pokecenter and as soon as I enter the grass I run into moltres. I've beaten this game twice(out of boredom) and I've even beaten pokemon X. until a little while ago i didn't even know the legendary birds were in it. my point is, until this video, after all the time I've spent playing these games I have never run into a legendary Bird.

That's why you always save before fighting stationary legendaries, and that's how I caught Yveltal, Zygarde, and Mewtwo all in Pokeballs :)

Anti matterhut yeah. It may have high special attack, but its' defense stats are pure garbage and thanks to the Fire/Flying typing, it will be taken out with any rock type attack, maybe even one hit from Rock Blast. I'm not sure about this guide, tried it with no luck. However, I did find a similar method that worked quite well. Find a route near a city that your legendary bird frequently visits. Fly to that city, check your pokedex, repeat. Once you see your legendary bird on a route adjacent to the city just go find your legendary bird.

What most people don't say when catching legendaries is use timer balls, I've caught over 15 ledgendaries with them easily. The only ones who were still troublesome with timer balls were the tapu's in sun/moon.
