Legendary: Civil War - Solo Playthrough

Finally, one of the rare legendary playthroughs where the player actually calls the character classes by their actual names, and not some made-up nonsense. (i.e., green fisty thing, brainwave, red bullseye, sonic ability, etc.) Awesome! Trying to learn how to play this game from KZbin videos, when everyone uses their own language to refer to the cards is both hilarious and infuriating. Lol.

At 11:00 note that "Hero class" indicates the non-grey colors, i.e. Strength, Instinct, Ranged, &c. It is a Captain America deck, after all!

Thanks for this. Makes me want to bring this one out again and give a quick solo play-through. I just haven't had time of late to play even a solo game of the many games I have that I play solo.

In the Regular solo play rules it says to ignore the masterminds "always leads" rule. Does that mean we use only 1 villain group, or do we still use 2 villain groups but they don't have to be the stated Always Leads group?

pick peter parker was a mistake, but solo mode is very difficult with some mastermind and villand groups, sorry for my poor english, i´m from argentina (i speak spanish if you don´t know) great video

This looks like a great expansion, but I doubt I will ever get it. The game just does not get played enough at my house, unfortunately. Thanks for the playthrough!

I got this sat on top of some step ladders .. and all the base sets and villains box etc. The Fantastic 4 mini box got removed due to rights problems btw. (This one looked like a better bet than Firefly / Big Trouble In Little China).

I've got them split between the Villains box and a Secret Wars box, but it's going to fill up fast!

I didn't know that about the Fantastic Four. Good job I bought it when I did then. I still need this set and the upcoming Deadpool set. Mine take up the whole of the villains box and the 2 secret wars boxes. I sleeved and colour-coded all (yes all) of my cards so they take up more space! It's a great system.

I know this is a late comment, but Devin, it looks a lot like the mat that comes in the Villains set, just flipped. You could also try looking at the Files section on BoardGameGeek, there are a ton of custom mats. Here is a link to the one that I chose. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/103838/legendary-game-mat They even tell you in the comments where and how to print it. I think it was $25-30 including shipping. Hope that helps, and sorry if you have already figured this all out in the meantime. Have fun with the game.

thank god a non-sleever! i hate watching playthoughs with sleeved cards.

I play the game too much to not sleeve them. The basic cards were starting to show serious wear. But yeah. The sleeves almost always reflect too much light during recording for these videos.

Adelin Dumitru is it because of glare? It's funny, but I prefer the sleeves because I like the crunchy sounds the cheap ones make.

I have all the expansions, but after playing this a couple of times, I realized I didn't care for this that much. The divided cards actually cause a bit too much analysis, I feel. The fact that they're printed sideways makes them a little awkward planning and playing out your turn. You kind of have to put everything out on the table first before doing anything. It seemed like every hero had split cards, so it was really hard to avoid them. Abilities like SHIELD Clearance and Size-Changing also forced you to do extra math per turn and often led to people having to re-count their total recruit and/or attack. So, it just led to longer turns and more fiddliness. I also don't think the set meshed with the rest of the sets that well. Peter Parker was great, but most of the heroes didn't work well with other sets. I'll probably pass on this especially since the game is getting too heavy and big to lug around anyway.

+medchem30 SHIELD Clearance was really annoying! I had a perfect draw in the video where I had just enough attack to finally get the Mastermind and the villain that was guarding him and then realised I didn't have a SHIELD member and it all went to waste! I do worry myself about how heavy Legendary is getting, I don't want a third box of cards when these fill up!
