About BMI
Celebrating 75 years of service to songwriters, composers, music publishers and businesses, Broadcast Music, Inc.® (BMI®) is a global leader in music rights management, serving as an advocate for the value of music. BMI represents the public performance rights in more than 10.5 million musical works created and owned by more than 700,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers. The Company negotiates music license agreements and distributes the fees it generates as royalties to its affiliated writers and publishers when their songs are performed in public. In 1939, BMI created a groundbreaking open-door policy becoming the only performing rights organization to welcome and represent the creators of blues, jazz, country, and American roots music. Today, the musical compositions in BMI's repertoire, from chart toppers to perennial favorites, span all genres of music and are consistently among the most-performed hits of the year.

I'd argue he's *the* best. Better than Williams. Better than Zimmer. Better than Bernstein or Korngold.

Indeed he is. Is there any reason why studios cherry pick him for certain works?

His current project is "Fantastic Beasts" and holy crap I am so excited to hear what he does for that movie. His fantasy film scores are amazing. I'm still drawn to Maleficent's score.

James and Hans are to me the most inspiring and most fascinating composers out there. His work he did with M.Night Shyamalan is out of this world...

Have to agree with you there, the work he did like 10 years ago was golden. Road to Perdition is my favorite of Thomas Newman

@Vincent H. For me it would be Zimmer's Thin Red Line, Howard's Snow Falling on Cedars and Newman's The Shawshank Redemption.

@Vincent H. You are for sure gonna realize you know Tarawa, which was many times used in many trailers and with amazing beach dead fish montage in the movie works sooo well

Always feel grateful for what JHN has given to you. The idea of his unique orchestration, the way he sets up the notes and bind the instrument into an orchestra are always blown my mind away. One of the biggest dreams that I wanna make it into reality is to finally get involved in his writing team. To work closely with him. If John Williams and Joe Hisaishi are the ones who really brought me into the FS world. JHN should always been the one who has passed out lots of wonderful tools of how to wisely combine those instruments that could best represent the core emotion of scene. Conveying the feeling in a way that is meaningful to the picture. Mostly, how to translate the dramatic message to score that can embrace and embellish what’s really going on the screen. By the time I know him. I immediately know this is something I would like to do for the rest of my life.

Honestly one of the most respected composers in the industry today. He's done film and TV work. Now all we need for him to do is to score a AAA video game and a Disney theme park ride, and he's got all forms of media completed. Honestly, how excited would you be if he did a AAA-budget video game score or a Disney theme park attraction score? I would be hyped up to 11.
