This is my favourite Elvis Gospel song. I play his Gospels music when I paint, it gives me peace. He started singing Gospel as a little boy and he never knew he was the only white person in his Church. He never saw colour or race. Thank you.

The only Grammys he ever won was a lifetime achievement and his gospel. He should have won Grammys in every category. Elvis always loved God. He wasn't perfect, no one was but Jesus
@MrAlanfalk73
@MrAlanfalk73 8 ай бұрын
Yes it was so stupid. But also The Grammys was first "invented" in 1958, when Elvis already had had 10 number 1 singles, made his most revolutionary music. Elvis was in the army until 1960, so he could not really get a Grammy for the first 6 years of his career. I think this is why he got the lifetime achivement award at the young age of 36 ! They new he should have gotten more .

There was a clip on KZbin where a Texas minister talked about meeting Elvis in 1972 (can’t remember his name). He talked about all the critiscism he got from so-called «good christians», about meeting a rock and roll singer. This was his answer; «I met with Elvis, and he was a sincere man, who had a great affection with the Lord. I said to one of the people who criticised Elvis, when you get to be perfect, send me a letter!» Great answer. This version you played, Elvis was only 21-22 years old when he recorded this, but sounded like he had lived about 1000 years. Never to be equalled, the most misunderstood musician in music history.

Elvis recorded 3 gospel albums and yes he did have a relationship with God. Check out: "How Great Thou Art", (1972). I just got through listening to that one. "Amazing Grace" & "You Gave Me A Mountain" (Aloha From Hawaii, Live in Honolulu, 1973). I think you may like the last one...ENJOY! R.I.Paradise Elvis! 😇🙏🏽💖

Well I grew up religious in the church and I would never trade those years for anything, what an important foundation. I was Buddhist for a while and now I don't know what I am but everything about this just speaks to me directly. And I love your comments lady, I don't know your name I'm sorry but when you were talking about this feeling of when you're not paying attention and you're not connected spiritually and you kind of recognize that it's bad and then music like this is just a reminder to pay attention and be connected. It was a beautiful and emotional reaction I think.

Yes!! Elvis was a master on the stage..His performances,his singing,his great big heart n what he has contributed to so many ppl on earth..No one can ever do n that's why he is remembered to this day .But in private he was a very spiritual man..No matter where he went he always carried his Bible with him n also his spiritual books. He read them all the time daily..He believed in the Lord a hundred percent..He was also human n made mistakes..He brought so much to ppl n gave them so much..He always felt that why the Lord put him here..He also sings a song " Lord Why Me." He lived by that question....He felt very blessed..Thank you

Thanks for your reaction. Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off. As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqOpdKyEgtuNjc0). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

Young Elvis who started in gospel and whose mother always wanted him to stay in gospel. He was the only performer in Vegas who had a gospel song in the middle of every show. He put feeling in every song. Won 3 gospel Grammys. You have to watch Elvis humanitarian charity effortS. "Elvis Presley King of Kindness". And " Elvis Presley a generous Heart". He helped so many people he didn't even know. He never forgot his beginning in a Black ghetto in Mississippi. Thanks and Be Blessed. P S. Could you do "Milky White Way" gospel song. Thanks

Musically, what you're referring to is called "dynamics", the controlling of the tone and volume to create the sensation of ebb and flow, louder to softer, low intensity to high intensity, and so on. That's what activates your emotions and draws you in as a listener. As a singer, Elvis had an inner sense of that all the way back to his earliest recordings in the 1950s of songs such as his haunting rendition of "Blue Moon", and two ballads: "Loving You" and "That's When Your Heart Aches Begin". These, of course, were before his voice matured into what he became capable of doing after his service in the Army.

If you knew Elvis personally, he regularly sang, sometimes for hours on end, mostly gospel. He would have his background groups join him frequently in his Vegas suite and sing with them until the early morning hours. There's many recordings of Elvis singing while playing piano or guitar. He was constantly sharpening the tools. Elvis had a lot of flaws, laziness, bad work ethic, and apathy for his art were not among them!
