The gold card update had literally nothing to do with gwent failing... That was literally 7 years ago.

^This. Played Gwent since closed beta, and the gold card immunity was discarded right after it the game came out of beta. The main reason why the plug was pulled was that Gwent wasn't making enough money for CDPR.

Bro, I played Gwent ever since it released the open beta. I played it on ps4 while it was available on consoles, then played on PC when the game was released on the 1.0 and left the consoles. I can't express in words the amount of sadness I felt (and still feel) when they announced that they were going to shut it down. There were SO many cards each with their own description and animation... Even writing this down feels painful. Thankfully I didn't play LOR enough to reach this level of attachment to this game

I will keep playing the game as it was not announce to shout down yet and is one of the most free to play card games out there. Maybe it has no future, but I will stick with it until the end.

Sure like I'm still playing it and destroying people in Eternal, because otherwise I have to play Snap and Snap isn't even a real card game in my mind.

as a casual and i suppose non-player, due to not even playing LoR that much, one reason why i didn't stick around was because i heavily preferred the randomized gamemode over any other mode available. i don't remember its name, but you essentially build your deck on the fly with random cards, and then for each match you add a few cards to the deck. i've never been competitive, i'm all for having fun and i love roguelites, so having a little roguelitelite gamemode was perfect for me. checked in a while back, maybe a year, and it's gone, in favor of the story heavy gamemode which never spoke to me. didn't open the game again. i don't think i have any kind of answer to why LoR is dying, i don't have any insight into the competitive or casual scene, i just wanted to share this small grief of an enjoyable gamemode that is long gone in a game that's dying.

Card games were always a niche. And LoR devs always wanted the most free format possible. I played Heartstone and it was horrible as it forced to me to only play aggro. With LoR it was much better. The beta was very good and I was able to test a lot. I loved the game since then... But they started to make wrong decisions every time. Azir-Irelia killed the game for me, I wasn't able to build decks because of that dumb meta. If devs want to make LoR better, they just need to make less cosmetics that cost a lot to them and better decisions. Different cards animations would be even better than cosmetics, tbh. A better progression system, not a weekly one. A way to remain for casual players with every patch, like free cards for that patch and a slowly progression for people that play a lot... They need to make big changes. They need to make it less free to play for players that play A LOT.

If riot decides to pull the plug on LOR than I wouldn’t mind buying a non microtransaction version of the game the last thing I want is spending money on the game just to have it disappear because it was not profitable for them thru microtransactions

Hope you can keep your channel going with whatever. I come from playing Magic Legacy format paper or MTGO. That's why I gravitate towards Eternal in LoR. I love tons of cards to build with. How is Shadow verse?

Shadowverse was pretty okay back in the day and I'll definately be giving the sequel a try during the summer.

Most of the dregs left playing LOR are a community of invisible bronze tier trolls who havent realized that anyone who is anyone has and is moving on past their shenanigans.

Unfortunately, all the western Hearthstone killers have failed. Which means that you are only left with established brand and franchises in North America. MTG arena, Yugioh, Marvel are the holly trinity of digital CCG's right now. None of them really play like LOR.

Snap mostly succeeds at being the best "casual card game" on the market. Trying to take it seriously with that level of R&G and low deck building possibilities is hard for me. @@jaegybomb

Marvel Snap currently I'm playing (I'm Gwent guy diehard fan) Played LOR after its one year released for a year to then came back playing again OTCG again this year last month on Snap then yesterday tried Warhammer Horus Heresy Legion and I'm having fun playing the campaign that it is in the rotation. Way to cursory of a video. Gold update was probably not as big a change as Thronebrealer update. Also, Swim went to Artifact which you definitely should’ve talked about in a vid about failing card games. Lastly, you may not like standard but its 100% necessary for game health. Eternal was a shitshow of hyperpowerful decks that paradoxically meant you could play less cards if you wanted to slightly enjoy the game and not get rolled by insta level TF temple

I didn't want to talk about a card game I haven't played. Artifact was a one look nope scenario for me. Also TF Temple isn't the highest winrate deck in Eternal its just a deck, as opposed to say Elder Dragon Morgana Galio dominating a format.
