Here's a short comparison of Legere Signature reeds on a bright sounding mouthpiece by Tom Tuko. This mouthpiece is 3d printed and hand customized to my specs. Tom has different models, which you can order. These are made to order mouthpieces and limited. Don't hesitate to send a message if you want one!

The Rico plastic cover sounded the best to me. (That's what I use also..full disclosure. :)

William Rick Graham Do you think the plastic cover is better than regular cane jazz reeds?

I seem to get a crisper, brighter sound with the Rico plastic. My experience with cane reeds find my best sound so far is with Marca 2 1/2 and Vandorens. But I prefer the plastic cover because of the durability and the sound.

Great video answered most my questions. I was wondering about the mouthpiece though. Is it possible to get a large chamber with a small gap? (I forget the word for the space between the Reed and the mouthpiece, my old director would be ashamed) anyway I'd love to learn more about that mouth piece this is the 1st video of yours I've seen but i assume you have a video about it maybe?

oh.. you mean tip opening. well, it's possible for custom mouthpieces to have that, but mostly size 6 and above mouthpieces have the large chambers. Some even have small or medium chambers but with larger tip openings or with higher baffles. Preference and ease in playing is the key!

I play on a legere 2.25 signature reed and I’ve been researching which reed is the best for jazz. I think I have my answer. Thanks.

How much does the Custom MP run? Also, please explain how each of the reeds felt to you. You went down in strength with the studio cut...is that because it is a harder reed?

George Tucci.. there are so many models of tom tuko custom mouthpieces sir. Check his facebook site. - TomTuko it costs about 80-100 USD only. Its a mouthpiece that is not reed choosy. It plays good with different reeds. The harder the reed, the stronger the sound but more air needed. Thanks for watching!

What can you suggest for the size of legere?
@MartinUtzurrum

depends on mouthpiece size. tip opening 7 is ok with 2.25 or 2.

you have to match with your mouthpiece sir. Usually, the bigger the tip opening, the softer the reed should be. or lower reed number. Ex. size 7 mpc with a size 2 or 2.25 reed.

Pedro Augusto thanks man. Studio cut IMO is better for classical playing.. the signature is brighter and a bit softer with the same size number. Hence more closer to java greens...
