Legion Go - Install NEW Stable GPU Drivers & Adrenaline Guide

If you guys have issue with the TM 780m graphics driver there should also be the non TM 780m graphics driver which is a more general version not so targeted to specific hardware configurations. The non TM being more general purpose for more devices using the 780m often used in gaming as well. I have used both and shown guides for both. I have heard some people have better luck with the regular general version and some have better luck with the TM. I am using the TM this time. So far the TM driver has not caused me any Legion Space or Quick Access issues and all my custom TDP is working proper.

@@GameTechPlanet Non-TM gave me an issue running medium & high settings on a few multiplayer games… I switched to TM when I first got my Legion Go and after that (was on 24.8) then 24.9.1 everything ran flawlessly. Even with my Xbox Core Elite blue tooth. Just updated to 24.10.1 and am about to try it out

A quick tip for anyone doing this. Side loaded drivers do get overwritten often, especially if you forget to pause updates or crash out from a game (not always). You do not need to constantly reinstall. Simply go to Device Manager and right-click the graphics card. Once there, click on Drivers and Roll Back Driver, use the drop down and select the “AMD Radeon (TM) 780M Graphics Driver” that you installed previously. Restart the device and you’re good to go. Hope this helps.

yeah I had to basically factory reset my legion after doing this I was able to play black ops 6 for like 2 weeks then legion space stopped opening for me and the quick button to access the setting to change performance stopped opening too. I did not want chance burning out the system trying run games, if you reach out to Lenovo, they will have you do all the basics like check drivers and use the bridge to run updates if that does not work then they tell you factory reset. moral of the story be careful doing this it's awesome when it works but comes with a price at this point. I wish Lenovo would really do a better job focusing on the driver support with AMD rather than making legion space look fancier. quick note this is not at shot a GameTech Planet, thank you for sharing everything you have tested I enjoy your content and have learned a ton, at the end of the day we are all just trying to do what we spent our hard-earned cash on.

Also next time that happens with a Space gpu driver update. Make sure you open windows store so adrenaline will auto update and be compatible. If you dont open Microsoft and update than adrenaline wont work

If you have issues with adrenalin after a legion space driver updates and the microfiber store doesn't fix it. You can ddu your legion graphics driver and reinstall it from the website and it will reinstall adrenalin.

So by default you dont rly need anything toggled on. But the adrenaline app is full of great features these days like AFMF2 for fluid motion frames, anti lag, RSR and more. Depending the games your playing and the experience you want will dictate if you need or want to use any of those features.

I installed this driver. However, I constantly had problems with games. In addition to the problems in games, the Legion Space program also does not work properly. There were times when I could not change the screen brightness and resolution. While I was getting higher fps in some games with the old Legion Go's own driver, the fps values ​​​​also decreased after this new driver process. Thanks for the comment. Seems to be hit and miss on this one for people. Thats the problem with unofficial stuff like this but worth a shot for those who are having major issues with the oem driver in certain games they trying to play. Everytime i go back to the oem driver i cant play FF16 🤣. Lets hope Lenovo is soon with the update but im not holding my breath. May was their last update and it was an April driver. So we are about to hit 7 months old. Not good for gpu drivers.

@@GameTechPlanet Thank you. Lenovo does not give the necessary importance to this device. They have forgotten it right now. Asus rog ally model or similar models are constantly updated. A suitable amd driver is also released for every new game. However, levono has not done anything for this device for months. When you report this to lenovo, they tell you that an update will come as soon as possible, but they have been saying this for 4 months and no update has come.

@@orcunfix I know I feel the frustrations as well. Imagine if Nvidia or AMD dropped one update a year for their graphics cards. Games just wouldn’t work or wouldn’t work properly and thats whats starting to happen on the Go. Its been my top 2 windows handheld and highly recommended by me since launch. But the serious slowdown in updates especially the gpu drivers is very frustrating.

I also had similar issues. COD MWII and MWIII constantly crashed. Sometimes I couldn't even load into a match without it crashing. Escape from Tarkov also crashed or just took 15 minutes to load a raid and then would give a server error. Horizon 5 also had issues. I've found with the factory drivers and Lossless scaling it runs rock solid at more than 60fps on most stuff with the graphics medium to high.

I would first try reverting back to the oem lenovo driver. DDU process again then download the official driver from legion go support site and reinstall. Update adrenaline in the Microsoft Store. Restart the Go. Then download and install legion space again from legion go support site. If that doesn’t work you may just have to factory reset.

I hear ya man. I see your comments. Unfortunately I dont use social media like that. Maybe I should make a full guide on how to do this and put out soon. Its really easy tho man. Open legion space and go to your controller settings. Its the tab all the way to the right at the top next to settings tab in Space. Then at the bottom it has tabs. The first is Button Mapping. Click that. Then go into view and edit. Easy to remap your buttons there and setup back button shortcuts. The combination shortcut you need for Motion Frames toggle is Alt Shift G. As far as getting to the desktop when in game. Two easy ways. For touch screen just swipe up from bottom og the Go screen. That will bring it up. Or you can press the Quick Access button on your right controlleramd the 4th tab down which should look like a little wrench. Go to that tab and its full of shortcuts including Win+D which takes you to desktop.

So I can’t use safe mode for whatever reason. Like I’m unable to open any apps or files in safe mode. I followed a different method to install the driver but the steps with going into the device manger and so on are the same. Are there any known issues with not using DDU for this process? Also what hotkeys do you have set up? I tried before and they didn’t work

I never use safe mode for this. If you look at my last guide from a couple weeks ago I didn’t use safe mode. I just had a lot of requests to show this method on one so I did. For the peeps lol. As far as hot leys. Set those up in legion space. I forget the keys u need but it says in adrenaline what hotkeys activate things like afmf2. Just use Space to make a combination key setup and apply to one of your buttons. Mine it the top button on back of left controller. I just click it now to turn afmf2 on amd off easily.

Price. Basically its a screen they used for alot of tablets and was cost effective to help keep the price down while having a larger screen, larger battery, removable controllers and all that. A trade off. Not my favorite as for me the screen on m device is usually THE most important part of the experience

I just wish my adrenalin would open, in my AMD Folder it says I have version 24.5.1. For months it hasn't been able to open but when I first got the LGO it did. I know my drivers are up to date with the stock drives and I've no complaints about its performance as I'm getting more than 50fps on most games on High/med settings but its really starting to boil my piss that I can't access Adrenalin to make it better.

If you are on oem official legion go drivers you get your adrenaline update from windows store. If its alrdy showing updated and still wont open maybe try uninstalling adrenaline and reinstalling. Shouldnt affect your driver.

Is there a risk to windows if I use this method to just uninstall the official drivers then reinstall along with Adrenalin... I don't have a usb and I read some people having to install windows again, that's mainly the reason I haven't tried this. I've paused my windows update.

@@carlosroman9726 seems hit and miss. Its not an official driver so ya never know. For me nothing has broke doing this several times. You can try downloading and reinstalling Space. Can get it off the support site. Roll back to the official drivers. Or worst case a factory reset which I have done many times to lol. Unfortunately thats the way of things when we tinker and fix things on our own while waiting on Lenovo.

@@edmundbennett1993 use legion space controller settings to edit the controller hotkeys. Look in the adrenaline app for the shorcuts you want they are listed. Then in Space map the hotkeys with combination keys in settings

Lenovo Legion Go is one of the BEST handheld gaming PCs still after a year of it's launch in fall 2023 because it's like the Nintendo Switch with a removable controllers, it have an 8" screen without an OLED, but still so good I have Lenovo Legion PC so it would be easy to connect Legion Go with Legion PC and AMD Ryzen 2 is a REALLY POWERFUL PC! Is AMD Ryzen 2 a new AMD Ryzen power? The only problem with Legion Go is the price what's over 700€ so I'll wait for november Black Friday sales. Woyld even a handheld PCs coming to Black Friday sales? PS Silent Hill 2 looks AWESOME on Legion Go WOW! 😮

The gpu driver issue rly is about my only Go complaint these days. I have highly recommend it since launch ( depon the persons needs and preferences ). But as easy as side loading drivers is. The consumer shouldn’t have to do this. I hope they catch up and do better with thwse updates so we can do as we are supposed to and keep the device updated thru space with official drivers. That all aside. The Legion Go screen is still amazing and the most immersive handheld experience not to mention other great features as you said.

Its not rly required. Depends what you play and if you wanna mess with AMD features not yet officially supported. For me testing games it became required cause some newer stuff just either not working at all or not correctly. So I had to do it. Soon as Lenovo pushes a newer official driver I will go back. Probably fpr test i will even go ahead and go back sooner while waiting and keep testing all of this.

The setting i showed in ddu helps. I also have shown before what I do. I pause windows updates in settings/windows update 5 weeks at a time. No real guarantee sometimes it happens but I have been successful the past couple months not getting it overwritten

DDU option did not stop updates for me, I also hit the pause limit (5 weeks) . Surely there are more people in the same situation, if they side load they will have much bigger issue

@@sinanko-no1lb yea it is a big problem for everyone who does this. Unfortunately not being an official driver it will get overwritten with any windows updates happen. Lots of reasons why I hate that we have to do this. We need Lenovo to step up

STOP saying this is required or a "necessity". This is a lie. The approved drivers work FINE. Explain how the device is "very difficult to work with" while using the approved drivers. Also, explain in DETAIL the benefits of this driver version over the official release supported by Lenovo.

@@Jason_P My goal with these devices aside from special videos is to cover them and game test with official drivers only. Its become increasingly difficult the past two months to do that with the Go since the official Lenovo gpu driver is still an April 22 dated driver. Gaming doesn’t work like that. We require gpu driver updates more often to keep games working especially new games. So the official lenovo driver has had worse performance, crashing games and or games that wont launch. Final Fantasy 16 was the straw that broke the camels back. I had no choice but to side load the AMD 7840u driver to play and test FF16 and other games since. The longer they go behind the worse it will get for the “ normal “ consumer who isn’t out here trying to fix their device. Benefits of the unofficial AMD Stable 24.9.1 driver are that ( Games work, performance is much better, amd fluid motion frames 2, and more ). Thats about the best I can do for a comment man lol. Tried my best. Trust me its a frustrating situation for the legion go.

@@Jason_P play warzone😂 u gonna get “warship cashed” it even tell u when loading warzone your drivers are out of date and the game may malfunction it do every 2 games u crash I deleted the game I couldn’t play it at all before u could but after the new update since they update the graphics on call of duty for bo6 it’s outta date I’m fr I got games that work yeah perfect but the games I wasn’t warzone rainbow they crash

i think i might sell lenovo, Asus with their ROG Ally keep constantly updated, even they got shit hardware but they fix it..

I still love my legion Go but I have rly come to love the Ally X. So consistent and in games where Ram does matternit maoes a difference. Id like to see all the companies do better with updates as it keeps the hardware working properly. Asus is doing pretty good tho. Lenovo needs to catch up soon on those updates and fixes
