Lenovo sofware support is disappointing hopefully the z2 chips drivers can be updated directly from amd not through OEM. Lenovo dont really care about software or driver updates for their products

I hope this means it will have gyro and capacitive touch sticks, per Valve's guidelines. In regards to Game Pass on SteamOS, it would be nice, but isn't it all UWP based? UWP is Microsoft's proprietary file format, which can not be run on Linux due to certain APIs and dependencies that Linux lacks. It could happen but it would require a lot of work.

at the end of the day. what matter is the performance. z2 extreme should have a rdna 4 igpu imo. even if you put oled and 100wh battery in it yet only performs 15% better than the first one, its not wort the money.
@ricarmig12 күн бұрын
It doesn’t mean you have to upgrade by each generation, if it is just an update. Even better, developers will consider a lower graphics profile that will be compatible with these consoles.

Seems its rly meant for the new legion go s designed for steam os. That said. We do know Valve is working to n a release fpr the existing asus ally’s and potential legion go.
@zakblue12 күн бұрын
they should definitely add it for the original legion go, that would be a kick up the ass if they omitted that for all the og owners

Bazzite is pretty close to perfect on the Legion Go now. If you want a SteamOS experience on the Legion Go you can install that. I've been running it exclusively on my Legion Go for 8 months now. I dual booted for a few months but never used Windows so I ended up removing it to save space.

It will always be a price point battle. Lenovo's will always be more expensive. They can make something cheaper/more value for price.
@hooky1713 күн бұрын
Why?! The release IS SteamOS. If Valve end up getting SteamOS on all this other hardware they’re suddenly turning their competition in to their contributors. Especially given the profit margins on the Steam Deck are so small. They don’t need it to compete if they’re turning all these other devices in to Steam machines

I am not interested. Are we legit talking about a front end for a Legion Go that only supports the steam store natively & not the Epic store the EA store the Ubisoft Store the Microsoft store? Doesn’t natively support game pass or Gforce now? While you can hack workarounds for these issues that would involve interacting with Linux in desktop mode, instead of “steamOS” & Linux as an operating system is incredibly complex & if you haven’t regularly used it you won’t have a clue about what to do? b/c that is certainly the steam deck running on Valve’s software. & even if you figure that crap out, oh, yeah, there is no anti cheat support, so kiss good-bye Halo, Call of Duty, Destiny, & heck, even Apex Legends. If we are seriously talking about installing this on a 3rd party handheld gaming device…. Uh, I don’t think so. Also, it can’t run AMD motion frames AMD vivid gaming or lossless scaling.
@andrikken00712 күн бұрын
One of the main points on why i chose a handheld with windows, your comment are spot on and i totally agree
@DINOMAN1337YT12 күн бұрын
Bro both halo mcc and halo infinite work fine on linux and you don't seem to realise that just because a game has anti-cheat does not mean it can't be played on Linux especially with the compatability tool built into steam directly in linux operating systems like Bazzite. And the fact that games usually run better on linux than they do on windows because there isn't so much bloatware hogging the system down also From my own personal experience Its good cause on my rtx 4090 laptop that had windows installed I always had to have the msi center app running in extreme performance mode and have the laptop plugged in while gaming to prevent stuttering but on bazzite I only need to have the laptop plugged in while gaming and I no longer need the msi center app to game without stutter. While both Linux and Windows have their fair share of issues and pros ultimately linux is better for gaming then windows ever was especially now and one good thing is that linux doesn't to my knowledge spy on their users like windows does. Also Helldivers 2 plays better on linux without stuttering .
@LostinSpacetime12 күн бұрын
Yes, we are "totally legit" talking about an alternative OS to Windows, with its advantages and disadvantages. Apparently, it's hard for you to imagine that some might prefer SteamOS, but I want to assure you that it's absolutely true. Also, it seems it's going to be two versions with same or similar hardware: one with Windows, and one with SteamOS. So you can relax now!
