PC Handheld wise I only bother with Steam as they will support their products for years. While the others like Lenovo make a product then drop support 6 months later when their new device launches. Although the steam deck is more powerful and gives you access to your steam library on the go the Switch however gives you access to Nintendo exclusives like Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Zelda etc. If I only had enough money for 1 of them I'd choose the Switch and just stick to pc for my steam games.

I don't see it as an advantage. It's size is still too big to carry around. It maybe lighter but not much. For a lot of people, it's partly from marketing and exclusive titles. I think you underestimate the power of the Nintendo brand. They don't need to compete with these handhelds. In fact they are not competing with them based on sales. The market for handheld PC's is relatively small and that's not without reason. First of all, people don't but Nintendo Hardware for gaming power and performance. They but Nintendo hardware mainly because of Mario, Pokemon and Zelda. And if they can deliver new Mario, Pokemon and Zelda games that looks even better and cooler than what they did on the Switch then that will be enough for most fans to buy the system. The second reason why most people don't buy these PC handhelds (or android handhelds) comes down to the OS and user experience. Most of these devices don't come with something like SteamOS installed. For a handheld you just wanna pick it up and start gaming within seconds, not wait for launchers to load and mess around with mouse cursors and stuff (especially when on a shaky bus or train for example). This is where a gaming dedicated OS is really desirable. Third reason is that these devices are usually bulky and have poor battery life when running them at high power (And the high performance is why you would get these I suppose) So the way I see these handhelds are more as a hobbyist device for people who just want to push graphics as much as possible on a handheld (sacrificing convenience and user experience) This might change a bit the day Microsoft decides to allow you to install an Xbox OS on any PC turning any and all PC's into Xboxes. Or when Valve allows you to install SteamDeck OS on any PC. But even then I don't think Nintendo needs to worry because they still have their games and people are more than happy to overpay a bit for the hardware in order to play those games.

@Whatsup_Abroad8 сағат бұрын
Every single portable PC on the market put together aren't anywhere near competitive with Nintendo's market sales. It's just not at all reasonable when tons of Nintendo buyers are not serious gamers who do it as a main hobby. Many do it as a activity they occasionally enjoy with their families. I have had multiple PC handhelds. I also have a gaming PC. I worked on multiple VR headset releases. I would NEVER buy a PC handheld for my kid or family as a family gaming system. It sounds like hell. Do you know how many things can go wrong when someone goes tinkering in settings? I'm not running IT for them! I want the family stuff quick easy and simple. I am not putting any additional effort into the experience beyond turning it on and popping in a game. At some point the cost savings with PC gaming aren't enough to compensate for the time lost screwing around with it.

the steam deck is the only proper console handheld next to the switch rn, these glorified gaming laptops that cost 500+ dollars made into a handheld running windows are not something i care about personally. the switch gets proper from the ground up ports, the steam deck at least has steam behind it , but the other ones just use the pc versions, and pc ports are not very optimised.
