Hello everybody!
I made a new robot, and this time I made a working 3D printer!
It took me 2 years to come to this 3D printer, and just filming and editing this video took me over 24 hours, without even speeking of the hours that went into building and programming this machine.
So, I would really appreciate it if you would leave a like and a comment, because it would help this video a lot with the KZbin algorithm.
Do you have any ideas for what i can make?

You should give it a shot with a Bowden hot end nozzle I bet you could build the extuder motor part from Lego otherwise this could quite workable

Theoretically analogue input and gpio that would be all you need to drive heater cooling fans you need too and part cooling fan too cooler if it could be lego

This is amazing! When you assembled this, did you use epoxy, or just keep reconnecting pieces as they worked loose? Also, did you solve the issue with flexing the mount for the 3D pen whenever that bottom was pressed?

Thank you Ross! The bricks are connected in a way that they won't come loose, so epoxy wasn't necessary. I made sure forces were always being applied perpendicular to the connections, or the bricks were secured with oher bricks in a different direction. I didn't fix the flexing 3D pen, since it would already make a blob at points where it stopped, so why not have the blob a little bit to the left?

Build a mechanism that can push the extruderbutton on the 3d pen. It will reduce the amount of loose strings. How i build this?

There is a mechanism on it, that actually presses the extruder button. The unfortunate part is that 3D pens are horrible to work with, since they leak plastic while they shouldn't extrude. If you want to build this yourself, you can take a look at the instructables page, that is linked in the description.

It is indeed a good 3D printer you made. Did you connect the 3D pen to the mindstorms, so that you could control it?

@@CreativeMindstorms Your's is good too! 😊 I didn't control the 3D pen in any case. I manually started it whenever a new 3D print started. That's why I got pla lines everywhere, because I didn't even have a lego motor to start/stop extruding, as the pen was always on.

Ah okay, i see. That could be something to add. But I have to say, the accuracy is amazing! Looks like the pen is really consitent as well. That's something I had problems with. The pen was inconsistent and created tiny bubbles in the plastic.

@@CreativeMindstorms Yep, I know... I'm working on a new update. As for the pen, I tried a lot of them and I ended up using a 3D Simo (wich is arduino programmable). But finally my conclusion is that it's not possible to do a reliable 3D printer with such pens. We should use real extruders.
