This set has a special place in my heart. It was my first ever Lego set. My grandmother got it for me & I was too young to build it myself so my parents had to build it for me. I still have the instructions.

Dude. My childhood. Just can't look at today's Lego sets the same way like with these. I also started to collect classic pirate sets a year ago to fulfill my inner child's destiny. Don't stop with this channel, please :) So much nostalgia and good memories.

To me, this is the perfect medium sized set. Somehow I adored the small sailboat. I think I played with it even more than with the Black Seas Barracuda (both sets were originally my brother's). Maybe because it allowed better for simple battle scenarios.

Beyond the Brick put out a video looking for a Lego reviewer that's already somewhat established, you should look into it, might be a good opportunity as your production quality and knowledge of Lego far exceeds your viewership.

While I used to drool over the biggest sets like the Imperial Trading Post, often the smaller sets are true gems. This one might be one of the best Pirates sets. It offers enough play value on its own, and is a nice addition to other sets, especially the Bluecoats. It also looks nice. The only negative to me is the lack of interior detail. Some seats with a table (like a tavern kinda thingy) could've added a lot already. The only Redcoat design that could be seen as a successor is 6263 I think, but IMO that doesn't look very nice.

My first pirate soldiers custom build was largely inspired by this set and I see that it has also inspired you to expand on the original. I absolutely love it. And with that I'd say that this one of your best videos yet! Mostly due to the custom build you did. keep it up your almost at 500 subs!

There was definitely something special about LEGO in the 80s & 90s... By no means do I hate today’s sets, but all of the licensed themes take something away from the pure imagination of these vintage offerings. Thanks for watching! 😎👍

This idea with the second building by letting the original one existing is brilliant. THIS is how the Lego System should work. Thanks for sharing with us. Great review. I love your video style as always. P.S.: I have now all instructions from the Adventurers Theme and only the bricks from 2996 and 5958 are missing. But they will not be very expensive when I do a rebrick without the minifigs etc.. I have decided not to buy the set 5919 (Valley of kings) because it's too expensive. With that mentioned my Theme is going to be complete. *-* (I rebricked the Adventurers Car 2995 for 6€)

@@TrikBrix Uff judged on what I've seen of them up to this point... I think they are both in their own ways outstanding ships for young and old fans. I'll let you know if that will Change After they arrived. Do you own the Redbeard Runner? Because that ship was the one I looked at in the catalogs when I was young. Also what so you think of knights kingdom 1?
@TrikBrix
@TrikBrix 5 жыл бұрын
I think for me the Skull’s Eye is just slightly higher on my list (#1 fave of all time, in fact), mostly because of the color scheme. It just looks more menacing with the black and white. But the BSB is hot on its heels. I don’t yet own the Redbeard Runner... just looking at it, it’s probably my least favorite of the Pirate ships. I’m just not crazy about the way the sails look. But I’m going to save my judgement for when I actually get it in my hands. As for KK1, I do own a few small sets, but Castle in general has never been too high on my list of favorites. That said, I think the builds look great, just from perusing pictures on brickset.

Just wondering - these old sets show the alternate builds, but does the set actually include instructions on how to build them? Or are they just pictures to get the imagination going?
@TrikBrix
@TrikBrix 5 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a few sets that feature actual alternate instructions in the booklet, but I’d say about 99% of the time it’s just pictures.

Whenever I hear prices like it was 29,99 dollars... yeah before taxes? what about with taxes? Aren't Muricans always just lying to themselves when they talk about prices bcs they never include the taxes in it? It's like: this laptop only costs 300 bucks in the US, and I am like, whoa its 420 in Europe. Yeah the same here if you include the taxes. So why dont you include the taxes in the first place?
@jamesrussell3756
@jamesrussell3756 4 жыл бұрын
JayBee Jones I think it’s probably because here in the USA, the sales tax rates vary greatly from state to state. For instance, the highest is Tennessee at almost 10%, whereas Oregon has zero sales tax. Even at 10%, the total for a $30 set would only be $33, a negligible difference for most.
