There' something so satisfying about getting good deals on vintage lego like these. I remember how, back in college when I was broke (around 2014) I'd find two sets from the newer castle kingdoms theme (2010) that I always wanted. Specifically two prison sets that had the lion's knight horse barding and the dragon knight's horse barding. Got them off ebay for 10€ and 40€ which was not nothing at a time where I really had to make ends meet, but I realized that this was my chance. Looked at the prices a few days ago and the sets now go for 10x the price in the good conditions that I have them in. I was shocked and even considered selling, but only briefly knowing I could never pick them up again in good conscience. I just wish I had gotten the Imperial Flagship that released about that time. I knew that it was a good buy, but simply couldn't afford 200€ back in the day. Nowadays I just wish I had looked for another summer job or smth. to pay for it instead of being lazy. I'm still hoping for a "reprint" of that one day, I'll likely pick it up then. Patience is a virtue after all. :D If only they'd bring back actually good knights and pirates themes. The 2010 kingdoms series really was an exception these past 20 years, there was a lot of trash released imho.

I wish I could like this video twice! The classic Pirates/Imperials/Islanders is my all time favorite LEGO theme. I always associate the Imperial soldiers with being red but I love them in blue too! I had both of those sets from 1991. I love that so many of them came with jails for the pirates!

Thanks for the video, I just got a batch lot of sets of these and they are so fun. Then decided I would build my own builds to go with them and got stuck with the debate of red vs blue and who’s who etc. all in all such fun sets. #teamblue

This is such a cool series of sets for this theme! I think if I hadn't always been a city lover, Pirates might have ranked up there for me - so many cool things. That and the castle theme. Thanks for sharing these! Oh, and I'm very much partial to blue myself ;)

Since you have a good knowledge base on older sets and parts... which vintage parts would you recommend looking out for when digging through older used parts? I'm sure you could make content on this for sure.

Oooo! Good question! So many great vintage parts! I typically look for printed panel parts (part # 2345 and 4444) burps and lurps! Part #2409 Panel 10 x 10 x 12 Quarter Dome. Any parts in the original grays or brown. Classic space/pirates/castle parts. FORESTMEN! Round magnets/magnet holders. Anything related to adventurers or trains. Oh man the list goes on and on! 😂😁

Ive definitely been there! But hey, I always sell my parts above the median and had no problem selling. So price high and lower if you need to! People are mostly searching to buy from the least amount of sellers to save on shipping! 😁

Wonderful sets, thanks for your detailed review of them. Out of these I only own Broadside's Brig, I do however own the big bluecoat fortress (Eldorado Fortress) and its beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice. I personally think the Bluecoats and Redcoats are pretty even when it comes to the sets. Out of personal preference of colours I think the Bluecoats do look a little better, but even then it's too close to call.

Thank you! Yes, I agree pictures and videos just don’t do the sets justice as much as seeing them in person! And I also agree that both the blue and red are pretty even! Great quality sets either way! 😁

I covet this series!! I’ve wanted the entire collection for years. Especially the big one w/ the 3D baseplate that I assume you don’t have yet. You’re right that now this whole series would prob cost a grand to collect. Lol Thanks for showing these! Happy holidays!

Very nice! I think I have one of the newer Pirates sets, but I never really got into buying them. Just like Adventurers, I think if I bought one, I would want to buy them all. One day I will definitely look into them. As for the flag colors, I actually prefer both. In castle, each lord can have a different coat of arms, and I think each general in this series can have his own colors too. Edit* Merry Christmas by the way!!! :D
