This is not an issue for me at all. At least two of the buildings in my village will have basements. No baseplate will be visible anywhere.

I bought some...i then bought 1.5mm plasticard - then cut and put plasticard squares on my official lego ones. It all sits on a large wooden board anyway.

I have 2 lepin modulars and i use lego baseplates to build on just for when i make city they will fit with my real lego brick bank

This is why one should always only buy true "lego Brand" parts. Quality equals superior performance. I have also seen knock-off brands that don't hold together very well at all. Too tight, too loose, cheaply made, you get what you pay for.

Dollar tree base plates are best and closest to Lego brand.

Is the third brand Lepin?

No third brand is also on Amazon although the thickness is probably the same as Lepin. Lepin plates are pretty thick compared to Lego brand.
