I dont get the complaints about the studs, especially with this set; it's a tank! The studs make it look all rugged and tough, and if you squint, they're rivets. Great review as always jang. Unforntunately i do not have the pocket change to purchace a UCS 😅

The fragility makes it feel like a MOC. It looks great, and I’m sure there’s no better way for it to be done easily to tick all the other boxes. But doesn’t seem like an official Lego set because of it. Also, I don’t see why they couldn’t keep the blue pins, but do a little cap that can cover them up

This set and it’s figs are really nice. I especially love how instead of remaking the joker fig from the first one, they actually made a variation of the same figure, with very similar styling, just a different outfit

What I think could've been a fun way to re-release the Tumbler but make it unique is to simply do the beige camo one from The Dark Knight Rises. Then we could get an updated Bane figure too which would be nice. Where as before they released a "UCS" black Tumbler and a small beige camo Tumbler, this time they could release a "UCS" beige camo Tumbler and a small black Tumbler.

I actually love the studs appearing on the model! As a recent convert back to LEGO from when I was a kid, I really like having a bit of the LEGO feel from the studs in these big display models, particularly on one meant to be a big, rugged tank. I'm also not fussed about the flimsiness as for me this is a product that I'd only ever want to approach as a display model; totally get how some others might be worried about that, though, particularly if you have kids in the house who might be unable to resist fiddling!

Normally I'd be all over this, having missed the original release of the large Tumbler set at the time. However, while its retail price is certainly better than paying scalper and aftermarket prices, I still don't feel £210 is that good value, which is a rather big jump up from the old set's £160 from 2014. Yes there's inflation and more pieces here, but that's just one of the issues with the set's pricing. This Tumbler is only £10/$20 less than the much longer and denser 1989 Batmobile, which also has around 65% more pieces and some working functions, plus an extra minifigure. Even though I already have that one, I'd rather get that again at this price point. That said, this big Tumbler is already 20% cheaper in Costco UK before it even released, so £168 feels better and about right, if only to keep its price as far away from the 1989 Batmobile as possible. Then there's the other problem, despite that discount; a smaller scaled Tumbler exists, which is still really good looking and a lot sturdier, and isn't going to leave a massive dent on your wallet or space. That smaller Tumbler has really overshadowed and upstaged this bigger refreshed Tumbler so much that I can't personally see a reason to go for it anymore. I may sound very down on it, but I do really like the Tumbler. I just feel the big one isn't that easy to choose to get compared to back in 2014 when there wasn't alternative sets at the time. So it's very awkward timing of releasing it, with the smaller one coming a month early and while the 1989 Batmobile is still on sale. And knowing that it's still as highly fragile as the original 2014 version, if not more so due to some subtle changes to the 2021 version, just seals it for me.

I'll definitely be getting the minifigure scale one. I always wanted the 2014 one but now that we have the other size, this seems less appealing. It doesn't seem like the 1989 Batmobile where the smaller one was nice but the big one had way more detail. The detail on the small one to this is still pretty good that it might not be worth getting both

Out of all three batman UCS which would you advise buying? This one seemed pretty cool but after reviews I'm drawn to the 1989 Batmobile but then again I've never even watched the films lol. I've only seen the Dark Knight trilogy cause that's what I grew up with. Quite disappointed to see this one flop, I'll definitely get the smaller one eventually.

I LOVE the Dark Knight Trilogy, and I was so excited when I got the original Tumbler all the way back when. I was pumped to get not just a Heath Ledger Joker, but also a Bale Batman with the exclusive face, and at the time I didn’t grasp that the Tumbler was a UCS set not set to minifig scale (my 11 year-old brain didn’t quite get it yet). But I love that initial set. I actually took it apart and dusted each part off individually and rebuilt it a year ago, and I still think it holds up. So when I heard a new Tumbler (both play scale and UCS) was announced, I instantly started saving up for it. But now seeing it, I’m not sure. I love the figures, but I really am disappointed. It looks great, but it looks just like the original. With all the new elements, I really thought they’d redesign it and give it a complete overhaul. But aside from the tires and a more accurate size, I really am just disappointed. I think the interior killed it for me.

Thanks for the review. I got both of the Tumbler sets last week as I don’t own any. The small one is for my kid to build and play. This big UCS set is to go with the 1989 Batmobile and Batwing sets. Wife is not impressed 😆.

I actually like the fact that sets have studs showing because it just highlights the fact that it is "Lego" if you know what I mean. This set is in the sale at my local toy shop for £171 which sounds really good to me. I haven't bought it yet but I'm going to. I got the Rise of Skywalker Millennium Falcon instead because it was all I could afford at the time.

I placed my Tumbler 180° from the intended position on the base so the wheels aren’t touching the ground and took the plaque off and have it sitting next to the build. I think it looks much better because the plaque is now fully visible and I don’t have to worry about flat spots on the wheels. I bought this set because I never got the original Tumbler and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I may pick up the figs from the 2014 set (at least the Joker) to display with it

they have should just use this opportunities to improve the sturdiness with this refreshed set provided the original 2014 tumbler is so fragile on many parts but yet this new set still having the same issue as the previous one. minifig wise, since they tagged 2014 version batman & joker as exclusive, they should have just include a new minifig such as Fox, Rachel, or even Gordan which considered directly related to this tumbler, it can at least bring some refreshment to to consumers & remain the exclusivity of the joker from previous set. and also able to attract more 2014 owner to purchase this 2021 one. but still the biggest disappointment is such a minor improvement they made on this set and all the cons & weaknesses from the previous set still can be seen in this set.

I think that the "fragility" of the model is a little overstated. It's more like the little flaps will be misaligned or hinged out in the wrong position, but they are still strongly connected. If a panel is hinged out in the wrong position, you can just tuck it back in. I think most of these little flaps and panels have correct positions that are not hard to put them into: you just close a flap until it is stopped by touching something. Even the diagonal "wing" panel in the back has a little perch that you are supposed to touch the tip of the "wing" onto. The only part of the model where the correct position is unclear are the two sets of spoilers on the top, but I found that, if you attach pieces with hollow studs onto the model, you can rest the tips of the pearl gold lightsaber blades into the hollow part of the hollow studs to give them a "correct" position.

I've heard a lot of complaints about the model having too many studded surfaces, but notice that the vast majority of these studs are from angled pieces, where the studs showing are unavoidable. Almost everywhere else are smooth surfaces. If you keep this in mind, you can see the model as having as many smooth surfaces as it possibly could.

The fragility of this set is the only dealbreaker for me. I would have loved to see the tumbler re-released, looking similar, but finally having “tank” stability. Nope. It still disintegrates if you look at it wrong. I love big display pieces but I also love taking stuff and flying it around like it’s a scene from an action movie lol

I have the original UCS Tumbler, but I feel like it does not capture the look of the Tumbler as well as the 1989 UCS Batmobile does for what it is supposed to represent, so I was disappointed that there was not a major redesign for this new release. The UCS Tumbler is more like the slightly inaccurate toy versions of the Tumbler that are out there, so I've been modifying mine throughout the years to look more like the real thing. The biggest issues for me are the shaping of the "eyes" area and how horizontal rather than angled forward the side view of the Tumbler is. The best view is when you are looking down at an angle at it, but it looks kind of ugly when you are looking directly at a side view of it.

Never got the original so saving up enough VIP points for next year that I can buy this at least at American retail. $330 is a bit much considering both the 89 Batmobile, and Ecto 1 had significantly more pieces but cost quite a bit less. Favorite detail here is the larger tractor tires in the back. AS said not perfect, but a notable improvement to the look/accuracy over all.

The one and only thing that upsets me is the hanging spoiler arms, if you look at the smaller Tumbler the fitting for this is spot on !! its like they got so close to perfection and the home time buzzer went off .... some one shouted What about These hanging arms going no where, leave it come on i`ll buy you a pint...... I have bought the smaller one its on it's way ..... I would like to buy the big one but the hanging arms are all I can see uuuugh puts me right off ..I even thought if you got the clip in part from the small car would it work with the Big !! you picked on a wrong colour but not the main starring you in the face mess that is the spoiler arm hanging mess!!

Honestly, it almost feel like a mistake from the instruction having to put the information large tile on that end of the stand. Just putting it at the opposed angle fix all the problem with it.

Beside the price and scale arguments; the air intake, that big slanted back panel, the front wheel panel and those free floating elements are subpar plus the proportions seems off: too short in lenght, too tall in height.

Is there any way possible to avoid the flat spots in the tyres? I was planning on displaying without the stand.. Foam inserts? Bubble Wrap?

Maybe small 2x2 bricks underneath it, hidden away but just enough to raise the tyres off the ground; it might be tricky though as it is angled forward because of the bigger rear wheels and tyres.

Someone suggested putting clear bricks underneath to lift the front wheels just off the ground, but you can just rotate the tires every so often, so no part of the tire has pressure on it for too long.

I think the 1989 Batmobile set the bar high, and this Tumbler failed to come close. It's not a significant step up from the original release at all, it just doesn't appeal. The recent Scarecrow minifig Tumbler set leaves it for dead, as does the recent 1960s minifig Batmobile. If they'd made it the camo variant, I'd be far more interested, but this brings nothing new to the table.

They are not. Neither of them are. Batman has more print on him (most notably legs) and joker doesn’t have his jacket, it’s the version from the interrogation scene rather than with his trench coat.

They're completely different styles; Technic is easier because that's a standard function of that theme. Look carefully at the Tumbler, the designer cannot easily put steering in this thing without making it even bigger and much more expensive and the weird geometry of the back to front axles.

I think the reason why they use blue pins is because they show up easier against all the black Parts in the instruction manual and makes it easier for people to tell where they go but they could still use either caps to cover them up or use black pins and change the coloring on the instructions to show where they go🤔

I didn't like the previous one and I still don't like this one. It's just the design of the vehicle. In the film, the design of the vehicle is already too ugly for my taste. And the way it is designed - in a sort of layered, prawn-body type of shell - makes it extremely difficult to properly reproduce it in LEGO. The result is this, a vehicle that, to me, looks like a car crash. My wallet thanks LEGO, though. It's 250€ I just spared 😅

Heck I don't buy sets for the sake of it being heavily discounted, as tempting as they are, because I'm not interested in the theme, like Star Wars for example.
