Normally I'd go for the bigger models but the smaller minifigure scaled one exists and it is just fantastic! Yes it's relatively pricey next to other certain similar sets from other themes, but it's significantly more affordable and easier to handle than the larger Tumbler and doesn't need a ton of space! The larger one is obviously going to be more detailed, but I think it's too closely priced to the 1989 Keaton era Batmobile, which is only £/€10 more but it's a lot longer with over 50% more pieces.

6:40 The *Tumbler* 's stand is _supposed_ to be sloped: Since this Batmobile is kinda leaning forward, putting it on that stand will display it more straight. I'd rather have had a higher stand so the wheels wouldn't touch the ground,and the Batmobile would be in its correct position.

Nice detailed review. I just built the 2021 one. There is a reason why the stand is tilted. It is to prevent the tires get worn. However it is better to place the stand on the opposite side and turn the front to the stand. That way none of the tires touch the ground. Still it looks better when you see it from the side, but then 1 wheel still slightly touches the surface.

The turn table is not a weird design choice, it's the somewhat correct one. If you pause the video at 6:50 you will see the model is level. The slight inclination in the turn table is to accommodate for the sag the weight of the wheels cause, so the model can be level. I said somewhat correct because the correct turn table would have been flat, but with the inclination on the rotating assembly instead. Hope that helps y'all.
@RacingBrick3 жыл бұрын
Well if you want to provide a single position where the model is level then don't make it rotatable :) The problem is not with that specific position, it is with all the others where the model is not in balance.

I guess you will have to make an update of this video, with the release of the 76303 set. Now there are not only two UCS Tumblers, but also two minifigure-sized ones, with some noticeable differences between them. Seeing the new one, makes us realize that the back wheels on the 76239 set are a bit out of proportion (they are as big as a person, which is not movie-accurate, but it IS and remains cool and threatening...). As for movie accuracy, some aspects are improved (like the proportions), but some are definitely not (like the horizontal spoiler/wings on the back of the vehicle). I am curious what you think.

Hey @RacingBrick do you own the 9398 4x4 Crawler from 2012? (or any other Set with the same Wheels?) because I think the Wheels on that Set more closely resemble the Original Tumbler you showed. It would be cool if you could try and put them on this Set since the wheel hub is the same and I think the spacing could actually work out to be the same. You said in you Video (4:46) that the spacers are the same but just visually there are 3 of the black connector pieces in between the gray round Hubs and with them there I think it could work.

@MajorFusion3 жыл бұрын
I’m not entirely sure why they released virtually the same model (however I’m glad they did, I didn’t get a chance to grab the first). I also think they missed some opportunities with this, however, it’s a UCS model meant to be built, and displayed, so some of the stability and playability criticisms you gave are a little misplaced.
@RacingBrick3 жыл бұрын
Let's assume it's strictly for display only, why does it have an interior then? I guess because it's a feature you can observe! Then steering and suspension could be something similar :) And I don't think stability is a "nice to have" feature with a LEGO set. If you cannot pick up the toughest Batmobile ever without loosing a part then something is wrong.
@Johan92Johansson3 жыл бұрын
I think you put the large plate on the stand on the wrong side. I guess the rear wheels should be turnd towards the high end of the stand as the tumbler is back heavy. and then the plaque or what the display info is called get's coverd by the car.

Very good video which covered the key things about the new Batmobile Tumbler set. I got one this week but didn't know about the first veresion released in 2014 until later on when I read some other reviews. It's sad to see that there aren't that many improvements from the first version. Completely agree with the key problems highlighted for the new big brother. There isn't much of playability with this model and it's better used as a display/collection. Personally that's ok with me but I do wish the top can be opened like the littlbe brother instead of having to be removed in order to access/view the interior. The design of the stand just doesn't make any sense. You cannot freely rorate the vehilce on the stand because of the contacting part is not high enough to raise the back end of the vehicle off the surface is just sad. I do really like the rear wheels on the new model as they look very intimidating which matches well with the overall theme of the Tumbler.

I think the rear wheels should have a similar profile to the buggy wheels but would need to be bigger. The stand works on the old one as well (built from pictures) I do have the rear wheels touching my shelf which does not concern me. I would like to add steering to the orginal but I don't want to pay the £20 for it as it includes RC and other features that I don't want (unless someone can direct me to ways to include steering). It is dissapointing that the new one does not include the headlights located behind the side windows (watch it closely and you will notice there are 3 rows of head lights ultimately just need 4 more parts).

@sirgnavic3 жыл бұрын
I have the old one and am very disappointed that the new one is a rehash of the first, especially considering how great the 1989 Batmobile looks. In my opinion, there are a lot of flaws in both versions of the USC Tumbler with respect to screen accuracy. I have modified my Tumbler a lot to make it more like the movie version, though I'm still not 100% satisfied. I feel like the designer based the USC Tumbler off of a slightly less accurate toy model of the Tumbler rather than off of the real thing. For example, the side windows are supposed to be single panes instead of being broken into two panes by a strut. The large triangular hollows on the sides are closer to where they are supposed to be on the new version, but the shaping of the windshield "eyes" are still off, and I think that the paneling on the outsides of the "eyes" could have been done better, like by adding a 45-degree surface to transition to the side surfaces. I still don't like the cheese wedge pieces used on these panels and have removed them from my own Tumbler. In addition, I think that the model looks rather ugly when you look at it directly from the side because the edges are horizontal instead of sloping forward, which makes the real Tumbler look sleek. It's nice, though, that the back tires are bigger in the new version, but it also seems that there is now an unsightly gap between the tires of the doubled tires. I do like that you can angle the large rear spoilers now, and I think I'll incorporate that design into my own Tumbler.
