Fun fact: Bohrok were not tamable without krana, but they were programmable. They're lifeless machines. Only the krana lives. They're also not aggressive or malicious. Their job is to "clean" the island by leveling it. Later, they did do this in the story, as per their function. They're not bad, they were just awoken prematurely, so they had to be stopped from completing their mission. It was only when they were being prevented from completing their mission that one would turn to attack, then they'd usually just go right back to work, depending which type of bohrok.

I remember trying to shoplift a Nuhvok when I was 3 years old. Luckily, I was stupid enough to take it out from under my coat once my mother and I were back in the car, and she saw it. I was young enough that I didn't have a concept of "stealing" yet, so I had only done it because my mother said she wasn't buying it for me. Thankfully, she went back into the store and gave it back while apologizing profusely.

The Bohrok Tahnok set was the first Bionicle set I ever had. Was in a toy section of a store and was with my Mom and sister. My Mom was letting my pick a toy. I remember looking around for a long while because I suck at making decisions and was running out of time. I eventually picked out a Bohrok Tahnok set because I thought it looked cool but had no idea what it was. Got many other sets after that! Remember playing with these at home, in car rides, and my grandmas house. So many memories!

I may eat these words because I didn't follow Bionicle super closely once it hit the Metru Nui storyline, but I honestly think these guys are unparalleled in terms of playability. Their ability to transform into a ball and their attacking capabilities were amazing, and as a kid I definitely appreciated the low price point compared to the Rahi. As an adult, I don't really care for every Bohrok essentially being the same thing with a different coat of paint, but I loved these things to death as a kid. Great video as always. As a non-enthusiast you've already inspired me to grab a couple sets from Bricklink, and I couldn't be happier getting to spend more time with these things.
@DragonxFlutter Жыл бұрын
I'd say the Vahki are the closest thing to the Bohrok that we got as an actual set that _feel_ like the Bohrok did. An easy army-builder with an alt-mode (two if you alter a step) and the ability to be stored in their canisters. You could argue that the Rahkshi fulfill this role as well, but I'd argue that the way they were used in the story definitely made them feel like unique characters at the time, and despite having multiple shapes of Kraata, it doesn't really work the same way because you could at least _see_ the Krana and Kanoka Disks.

When I Was 9 Years Old 12 Years Ago I Used To Love Looking At The Bionicle Bohrok Sets Released Back In 2002!
@WakoDoodle4 жыл бұрын
When I was a kid I loved Bionicle but I didn't know if I wanted to get one, until these things came out; I wanted them badly. But we could never find them as by the time I got courage to ask my parents for one; the Toa Nuva were out, so I asked for them instead. (I literally saved up my pocket money for just them :D ) Then the Bohrok-Kal came out and I wanted to seize them fast, but the stores didn't sell them where I was and I missed out. Anyway over time I got into the lore; when the series ended I finally discovered "Bricklink" and bought the bohrok that I wanted all those years ago. To think, a simple bohrok started and ended my bionicle journey. Although the series is gone, my love for it remains strong; I only hope the new lego anniversary voting goes well; since they put bionicle on the list and if it wins, Bionicle returns! (At least in reprints.)

The Bohrok were my favorite sets as a kid. And in my fictional headcanon, they join the Toa after their initial defeat. I always looked at them as living beings, despite the true lore. The Bohrok are by far some of my favourite bionicles of all time. i don't know how i ended up here but this was really great to watch, bionicle was a big part of my childhood, i've probably spent 200$ in total on bionicle between 2001 and like 2008. this video made me curious so i checked my home attic and i found so many bionicles, even ones that i didn't even remember i had. turns out i have the brown bohrok and 5/6 of the bohrok kal. it made me feel so nostalgic, i ended up taking the black bohrak kal (since black is my favorite color) with me and placed it on my desk next to my pc, so everytime i look at it, i get to remember what a great childhood i had! i'm 27 years old now :) also: you talked about the durability of the rubberbands and i can confirm, they have been on my bohroks for over 20 years now and they still hold tight! :)

they're cool (I like how they roll up into a ball and are stored in the container - hanging upside down), but if you have one, you had them all (same with the bohrok-kal), means they're not too different from each other (understandable, because they're a swarm)... For any lego colector out there. Ther was a few diffrent colors of Rubber bands in the ealy 2000 lego set. Blue, white, red and green. All of them where diffrent. some were small with high tention some were larger with low tention. I remember that blue was commonly used as a belt for technic sets and they weren verry elastic. Those rubberbands did replace the first group of rubberbands lego used that was all black and squared shaped, thos rubberbands snapped quite easely.

Strangely, 2002 was the only year of Bionicle that I didn't have any sets from. I did know someone though who had Lehvak (Green) and Pahrak (Brown). At one point, he seemed to think that the Bohrok were the oldest type of Bionicle and didn't seem to know about the Rahi from the prior year. Another odd detail is that while both Bohrok Kaita are considered canon, only Kaita Ja-which is comprised of Lehvak, Gahlok (Blue) and Kohrak (White), actually appeared in the story. After this year, only four of the six shields from the Bohrok would reappear in other sets, three of which were in other themes. See if you can figure out what they are.

@@jackpfefferkorn3734 The "Stone Shields" from Pahrak also appeared in black in the "Gigamesh G60" (3806) from the short-lived "Spybotics" theme from 2002, and also in Mata red and Mata blue as part of the Bahrag Queens (8558) from the same year. They would also appear in those colors in the first Bionicle "Parts tub" (8711) from 2004, as well as the blue ones appearing in a Hockey set (3545) released between then in April of 2003. The "Earth Shields" from Nuhvok (8561) appeared in medium blue as part of the Technic Super Battle Droid (8012) from Star Wars in late April 2002 in the runup to the release of "Attack of the Clones" in mid-May of that year. It would also appear in this color in the same "Parts Tub" (8711) and another one (8713) from '05. This part also appeared in silver in the former of those, and also in the "Supersonic RC" (8366) from the "Drome Racers" theme from July 2003, and in the "Furious Slammer Racer" (8650) from the "Power Racers" theme from early 2005, before returning to a Bionicle set (8941) for a final appearance in June 2008. The second of these examples (8650) also came with the "Water Shields" from Gahlok (8562) in silver, having previously debuted in the Spybotics "Snaptrax S45" (3807) and in another Bionicle set (8596) within the three years prior. The "Ice Shields" from Kohrak (8565) appeared in silver in June 2003 as part of the first version of the Star Wars "Hailfire Droid" (4481) and also in the Parts tub (8711) mentioned before. That leaves the "Fire Shields" and the "Acid Shields" from Tahnok (8563) and Lehvak (8564) resepctively as the only ones of the original Bohrok's weapons to not be reused/repurposed outside of the Bionicle theme.
