Honestly yeah I’d love a follow up vid of this and saying how marvel and really been a downgrading especially from 2021 with the infinity saga and the spider man sets to 2022 with stuff like the new Asgard set, the three trash buildable spider man characters, and how the sanctum is pretty much the best one even with the small minifig amount especially with how next year is going to be sense the whole thing is that we’re getting two Infinity saga sets and how both are just infinity war hulk busters

THAT'S THE ISSUE They always looked odd to me and I couldn't put it until you said this. Would've been a better set if they didn't have those (especially since it looks like it's using the same building style as the gauntlets which feels cheapish in a set of this size)

It's a perplexing decision not making this just a normal helmet series set. They could also sell the gauntlet like the Infiniti and Nano ones.

I think the increase to that scale is really to perfect the curvature and lines. Sure ultimately it’s a plain black helmet with ears but I do like the look of the helmet. Wholeheartedly agree this set is too big and the price is unobtainable compared to the Bugle, which is the golden standard at ~20 comic book minifigures

It’s hard to explain but the bugle is now less mainstream than this so they are banking on mainstream fans finding this and wanting it. Between the high end collectors and the younger fans who beg parents for it

I believe this release marks some precedents: 1.- People is not really interested in this kind of monuments. 2.- DON'T make a D2C set based on bust or object.

I could see there being some kind of market for a lego bust...but it needs to be something that Lego fans would really, truly appreciate and at a price that doesn't drive them away. something like a classic minifig head, helmet, and the top part of the torso wouldn't be a bad thing to run. Hell, I imagine they could possibly get something out of a classic Toa style bust with one of the first year masks from Bionicle. There is a market for these things...but Lego has to find a better middle ground than what this thing has to offer.

@@rodinclaus9380 Maybe of a popular figure? Somebody more popular than Black Panther and can actually speak to a lot of lego fans potentially. I mean BP has fans, and not to say every lego set has to appeal to everyone but choosing to do this style with this specific character really shot them in the foot. Maybe some other popular character or hell maybe person from lego's history would've resulted in a better reaction and perhaps an easier challenge for the designer to make it look good. From this review and others I genuinely do not like how this set looks, like the ideas are there but extremely difficult to pull off and I could feel the designer having major difficulties with it especially considering the time frame he worked on it.

I thought that the purple showing through the gaps was an intentional choice to represent the vibranium storing energy. If they didn't want the gaps to be noticeable they probably would have made the whole interior black.

Beautiful set, but I don't understand it at all. If lego wants to start to do busts of famous characters, they should’ve started with a more recognisable character, Batman, Ironman, Vader etc. (i get it is because of the new movie, but not a lot of people will buy this at this size.)

If they want this exclusively as a tribute, they would market it as such. Would be nice to have an exclusive figure or the plaque to have some mention of him. It probably started as a tribute, but it seams lego abandoned the idea.

Chadwick Boseman was a hero to a lot of people. I really think young kids, especially young black kids, deserve to have a copy of this set. The problem is that there clearly aren't a lot of kids out there who are ready to suddenly drop $350 for something that you can't even play with and doesn't even have any minifigures

I could see this looking really nice next to the hammer, iron man, groot and gauntlets but the price is too high considering nothing else in the marvel line has cost this much which throws off the core consumers. If we got avengers tower announced first and another set in between that price and this it would feel better

i don't know about anyone else but i rather prefer the 10-30$ sets. With those sets having a fair number of pieces (depending on what set it is), you can take them apart and sort them or be able to display them without the product being too big or too heavy. Much like the sets that are set at prices higher than 40,50,60,70,80$, and higher.

I agree with your assessment. It's a great looking set, but it's oversized and overpriced, and who asked for it? Who is the target audience for this set? Making a Black Panther helmet/bust the scale of the Iron Man helmet would have been a much better idea.

I think this is one of legos efforts to reach outside the LEGO community, to people who would normally spend 1k on something like this, for them it’s probably pretty cool, a much cheaper bust that they get to build, there is and always will be a fascination for LEGO and anything puzzle related. So really that’s my theory, it’s also why there is no minifigure, it’s not trying to sell itself to LEGO fans like us, and with all the gaps, virtually none are visible when it’s up on display as advertised.

I feel like a bust of Thanos or a full on wakanda D2C would’ve been a better use of the budget. I just don’t see a market for this expensive of a set when there’s already a smaller and more affordable scale to buy sets like this in. I feel like Lego not mentioning Chadwick Boseman’s passing at all in any part of this set opens it up to criticism as an idea itself and not a memorial to him. As an idea, it’s terrible and way too large. As a memorial, it’s just okay but such a large price tag will definitely drive away anyone who would buy a memorial set. So honestly I think the only market for this set is turbonerds who have a massive shelf of mcu props and merchandise who would want a large black panther statue.

The bust itself looks good, it definitely isn't a bad set, but I just don't think this needed to exist. This set is probably going to sell really badly due to the fact nobody has asked for it and what else it could have been. The lack of a minifigure is very disappointing too. EDIT: 13:13 The other *three?* We've only seen 2 other Black Panther sets, not counting Namor's Throne Room and the bust... hmmm!

I can see why people would want the new Hogwarts Express, Lego fans could want it because of a good minifigure count, good build techniques, and overall a really cool lego train, Harry potter fans could want it because well it's a giant Hogwarts Express with tons of Harry potter references, but I don't think I could imagine anyone wanting this, it's not like Lego fans have a high demand for giant busts, especially considering how we already have a helmet line, idk tbh, yes this looks awesome but idk why anyone would really want to spend 350 on this

It’s an impressive build, but there’s just so much I don’t like about this set. I don’t think this set deserved to be this size. I don’t agree with it. I think $350 is ridiculous for any bust maybe outside of Darth Vader, and even then it seems like too much. And I really don’t like all the colorful pieces showing through. That feels pretty lazy to me. I just can’t get behind any prt of this one really.

Can you display it with both infinity gauntlets instead of the normal panther gloves? Might need to modify the bottom of the gauntlets to fit the ball joint but I think that would definitely make it unique
