I have seen supports be used by Lego before, mostly in older Technic sets where they were used to keep front & rear wheels aligned. However, I'm pretty sure the leftovers of those sets were repurposed into later parts of the build. The Starry Night set also has a lot of extra 1x4 plates that are acknowledged in the manual, probably to give some leeway if you make a mistake building the back "wall". Overall though, I've never seen anything like the supports here. I do like them, though!

I remember the Mustang used the pieces for the nitro tank as supports for the front bumper before being used to build said tank
@rc-fannl7364 Жыл бұрын

A truly unique and substantial build with great, and unusual techniques throughout. Very impressed how solid, and stable the plane is given it's sheer length and precariously balanced stand. Also really like how all the parts all printed and not stickered. Needs to become the standard of all Lego Icons sets at some point given the 18+ target audience and how much they cost.

I have built many complex Lego sets, such as the 9800R Liebherr excavator. The tricks used in this set are without a doubt the most advanced building techniques I have every seen in a production Lego set. Normally these are only used to create the displays at the Lego land amusement parks. Definitely looking forward to building this.

I quite like the livery they went with actually. The Concorde test livery is quite famous in its own right and was pretty much the only way you'd have seen Concorde looking between its First flight in 1969 and 1976 when airlines first began to fly it. There's an aircraft museum near where I live which has one of the original Concorde prototypes and thus it's in this livery too

Wow, I think last time I was really impressed by a Lego set was many years ago when I built the Arocs. Since then, I was always left after the impression that Lego could do more with their more complicated sets. And this Concorde is just wonderful in every way I can think of. Mad respect for the designing team that brought this to life. I hope one day they'll bring back the fun in Technic as well, because they are rocking the system builds nowadays. And thank you for making this video such an immersive experience, it really felt like I was building it :)

The only gripe I have with the set is the lack of landing gear doors, so the gear is always exposed which makes it looks a bit ugly. Certainly going to get my hands on the set though and perhaps look into covering the exposed landing gear even if that means loosing the gear retracting functionality.

@RacingBrick you’ve shown the absolute BEST idea on how to utilize the awesome giant sized Lego technic supercar series by mounting it on a matching background (reminds me of Porsche’s history of great marketing) and then mounting to the wall vertically, I have just the space to put such a thing and now I can totally justify the few hundred dollar cost as the equivalent of a nicely framed whatever. Great job friend. Great review of the Concorde.

The orange connector at 3:45 is used for disassembly of the Concorde. When you push the axle in on step 140 after assembling the fuselage, it "fixes" the fuselage to the wing and you can damage the pieces with brute force disassembly. You can reach the orange connector with a long axle from the landing gear bay to undo step 140 before disassembly. Not too intuitive, but it's nice they considered it and learned from the AT-AT mishap...
@SaperPl1 Жыл бұрын
Ok, after watching the review - this is awesome. So can we now expect to get a series of planes in speed champions approach? Ideally I would love to have WWII warbirds, but that's out of the question, so maybe just commercial airliners and small private planes and helicopters?

I'm not a big aviation enthusiast, but the Concorde is such a marvel of engineering and its elegance makes it truly iconic. Funnily enough, I was considering buying a Peugeot 9x8 Technic set at the store (I'm more of a Technic fan) but saw the Concorde at the same price -139€ - and my knees started to wobble a bit. Grabbed it, purchased it and I can't wait to start building the thing. At THAT price, the amount of pieces and the level of accuracy that you get makes this probably one of the best Lego sets you can buy at the moment.

I did some customisation for my lego Concord(e) set to look more like the 1976 - 1984 British Airways livery. I even customised the visor to look more realistic to 002 prototype's visor as well to the delta wings with more details with the numbers from 1 through 15 on them which was a pain since Lego got it in the mixed livery and they left some decals out.

I think I understand the use of the orange Technic connector. The piece is connected to the black axel that you have to push in. Now you cant remove the panel, but also can't remove the axle. But I believe that if you open the landing gear, you can reach the orange connector and slid it back to remove the black axle. Still don't know how you are suppose to remove the grey axles with stops from the panels?
@nesrual Жыл бұрын
@edgarleft I believe that you'd be able to push the 8L grey axles out during the disassembly; the forward one once the block assembly from steps 261-264 is removed, and the rear appears that it could be removed in the same way but by pushing on the orange piece (at the appropriate rotational angle). But I don't, yet, have any desire to disassemble mine to confirm.
