I think I remember this one. 'Never owned it, but it probably would have caught my attention due to the awesome rope bridge (I was quite into practical structural things at the time!)

This always looks like a cool set to me, even though I grew up after it's initial release and only learned about it during the re-release era. Glad to see it has a lot of areas for play, I had no idea that there was a cape guarding treasure. somehow I always thought you could fit a minifigure into the statue on the right, but I could be wrong. Thank you for sharing

How come in the book ate 2:25 it shows the hook on the left hand but on your physical one it's on the right?

Please excuse me for being the "Well actually..." guy, but what you call a catamaran is called an "outrigger." What makes it an outrigger is the smaller stabilizer in addition to the main hull. Again, sorry for being a stickler... Nice review!

If you don't want to be "that guy"...then why be "that guy"? Why not either simply not be "that guy" or, even better, present the genuinely interesting and appreciated information in such a way that you don't come across like a smug condescending douche? Something along the lines of "I believe the technical term for that style of boat is an "outrigger." The difference being that it has a smaller support stabilizer rather than a full doubled hull." The wording comes across as a genuinely friendly bit of extra information rather than drawing attention to the other person's mistake or lack of knowledge. Try it in the future, I promise you will get better reactions. :)

This is why the internet is such a terrible place for discussion. So much of human communication is context. Tone of voice, facial expression, body language, etc. And all of that is lost in the black and white of text. I apologize for snark.

At risk of sounding ridiculous, perhaps when you do the next set that has the Islanders you could acknowledge that the negative representation of the natives does not accurately represent actual island cultures. I believe these sets should be built, but I feel it's also important to recognize the casual racism from our past and call it out.

Fair point. This is a Danish company who put horns on viking helmets...their grasp of history leaves a great deal to be desired...
