Good point! Sailing the seas of Lego may be perilous if you don't hold your course by curbing your spending. It would be nice to explore some side theme in the future, though.

You can create dwarves and elves cheaply. Ali Express has many parts you can use.

Def Lepin and Kopf. Do your pieces have to be Lego? Even the custom made ones?

From a (subjective) moral standpoint, yes. Absolutely. Not to mention the difference in quality and clutch power. As for the custom parts used here, they are fabrics, paintings and stickers. And extra sails. None of them is meant to replace existing and available legit Lego. I guess that buying 'alternative' pieces could have saved me enough money to put together a proper film-making equipment. The audience might have enjoyed the end result, particularly if not told what lay behind it, but I wouldn't feel comfortable. At least, it's just me. :-)

Lego is way overpriced for the name compared to the few other brands that are made in the same factory in China. The quality is fine. But I guess if you are going to use tge lego name you better use the lego product. Regardless your story and builds are excellent.
