I have a suggestion about the windows in the wagon. You should keep the white glass in windows, but the frame for the windows looks a bit unrealistic, same go for the brown line going on the window glass. In my opinion it will look better if you change the window frame for the one you had with clear windows. Just a little suggestion from the subscriber.

very nice caboose on the loose... I really like the frosted windows and the black grill instead of the red & white. the Coupala is also used for observation of the train so the front might need the clear glass for looks. the other might be the door just for visibility. I like that you changed around the cars because the crook was really blocking the engineering view of the train from the caboose... really enjoyed the look of both trains as they travel around the track and how close they get to everything. It was great seeing the goth girl on the bridge from the hands-free cam. I forgot she was there. so many run things that pop out on your pass around. you might just for fun, making a video of basic drone footage from the city and have a can you find the list, by placing things in the scene that are new and not usual... have viewers do time stamp points they see the list of people... kind of a where's waldo... Walker Mate 33:26, 33:09... Alien Benchwarmer 33:28... Goth Couple 35:09... just a fun video idea. As always thank you for sharing your ideas and world with the rest of us. That Caboose looks great, and I pretty much agreed thorough the video with all the aesthetical choices you made with it. I also especially agreed with the fact that having the log-disguised scoundrel right in front of the rail employee was a bit too hilarious and unlikely XD. As for the usual round of suggestions, I think it's better to have the fish&chips sign on the boardwalk side. While less visible for "us" it is a more logical place for minifugures to see it. Also, this way you keep the lifeguard flag towards the beach, making it more visible for all those there.

Love the color scheme. Modified my Harry Potter train 75955:with the yellow stripe. You made the correct choice regarding the windows. Excellent job Robin! The design of the caboose is really fantastic. I like how you incorporated some of the design of the official lego caboose and I had a good chuckle for your loose caboose pun. I would go with the ornate glass also. To me it gives the car more detail and it looks brighter as you stated. Using the large sticker looks also really good, like it was meant to be there. I was thinking also maybe replace one of the two grill pieces on the bottom middle of the car with a 1x2 black tile and use some of the other stickers, like electrics. I do like the other grill piece over the red and white striped printed tile. The added stripe stickers on the end are a cool detail you added as well. For the inside maybe add a crossaint on the table for the train employees bacon sandwich and if you had a black round 2x2 tile with a stud on top you could put that on top of the stove, then have the pan on that for added detail like a hot plate, unless that would be to tall for the minifigure. As for the car of the day, it looks way better with the different wheels than what came with the set. I'll have to get me some of those as I have this set as well, awesome amendment! For the fish and chips shop I like the sign in the front where you moved it, but the coast guard flag is a bit hidden as well in the back. So I thought maybe move the outside light to the left side of the door and put in another brick with a stud on the side for the coast guard sign 90 degrees from the fish and chips sign so both are visible, only thing it may look a bit crowded. All in all awesome train MOC once again, the caboose is really cool but I agree that the cement mixer is still the coolest! Great video Robin!

The last car on a train would have a red light at the back of the car, at least in the U.S. A caboose may have more than one than one or a small light “tower”.
@RobinHoodBricks4 жыл бұрын
So mine is right then with its red lights? Cool!
@bmuscat4 жыл бұрын
Echoing several other comments, the caboose is pointed the wrong way. The observation platform should be on the rear. Trainmen used it for observing passing trains, inspecting the rail and ties behind them for damage, to make sure their train didn't start any fires along the route and to be the leading end when shoving (backing up). From a North American standpoint, your caboose is backward. Turning it around would also make your stovepipe more accurate, as right now all the smoke goes directly at the windows. Also, as others have said, all rolling stock would have couplers on both ends.
@RobinHoodBricks4 жыл бұрын
The direction thing is confusing as BrickTsar and LEGO had it this way. I checked. Also there are red lights on the back of the official set and mine. Many cabooses were double ended and had a platform on both ends but I have no knowledge on the subject. Maybe the cupola should be nearer the front end but, again, this was how it was in the other set!

Having been inside a few of these brake vans in Derbyshire they look very cosy a bit like a summer house combined with a shed. You need a hanging basket of flowers and a deck chair on ledge just to complete the look. (or not as the case may be) Oh by the way he's now face to face with the crook
@RobinHoodBricks4 жыл бұрын
That got sorted too, although I've already got a redo of this Caboose planned!
@o_l_w4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Looks great one more thing cabooses had was about 5~10 years before cabooses retired trains started to have breaks in all of the cars and the caboose was for if a car decouples and the train breaks in half the air hose that goes through all the cars breaks in half this causes a drop in air pressure and inside the caboose there was a screen which displays the air pressure and if it is low they can contact the crew in the engine and tell them that the cars have uncoupled and the engine will throw the train into emergency now the railroads use these little things that are about 3/4 of 1M tall and 4~5 cm wide and they have a light and they go on the back of the train and they do the same thing air pressure drops it contacts the crew and they can stop the train it is also useful because it takes a lot of time to get a long train moving because when the front starts moving the back is still stationary so the train has to go slowly until the back starts moving or the train will rip in half so when the train is slowly crawling waiting for the back to start moving and when it does start moving the thing at the back of the train tells the crew so now the crew can start going faster. Also the thing i just described is called a E.O.T. Or end of train device. Here is a link to some pictures images.app.goo.gl/YbyiFGnonuaNu2tM9 So I guess you could have just used 3 parts and put it on the back of the train and call it a caboose lol

Another name for the EOT device, which has a big red blinking light on it, is the "Flashing Rear End Device" or FRED, and it is "paired up" in communication to the computer in the locomotive cab which got the affectionate nickname of "WILMA" for hopefully obvious reasons! Oscar's description above is pretty accurate but I'll add a couple words to it like "coupler slack" which is why when the front of the train starts to move, the back of the train might not, yet, like when in your car and the light turns green, the first car goes but the second car doesn't instantly .. the cars 'spread out' from the stopped positions, well trains do exactly the same thing due to slack in the actual 'grip' of the couplers and also slack in other moving parts of the train, and yes, as Oscar said, if they do it too quickly they can cause damage. FRED has GPS and can tell WILMA it's speed, and brakeline pressures, and a few other things, and can actually stop the train if it senses a reduction in speed that would suggest the train uncoupled somewhere, FRED can just send a signal to have WILMA put the train into emergency braking. Modern radio equipment like FRED, and walkie talkies is what truly did-in the caboose.

I'm not sure what should go on the headlight bricks, I don't really like either of the options. At first, I thought the frosted windows were a bit strange, but now that I've seen the caboose fully built I think they are definitely a better choice. The only place where I think the train/plane ones are a better fit is on the "door," but I guess the other ones are fine too.

Such a cute little caboose. I really like the ornate window panels, but I think they should be within red frames to match all the panelling like on the real one you showed off. But then the windows on the sleeping quarters should be the little train windows. Would give more privacy to the guy and also would be more visible around the roofline. How would the train look if you put the cable/drum carriage between the two shipping containers as the train worker still can’t see. That way the the car and boulder carriages are low profile for him to look over. The coastguard flag should remain on the front as it’s more inline with the beech. I think the fish sign was fine on the pavement side. You’d see it when you’re walking up and down the sea front.

I think I agree with all that, but now train fans are saying the Caboose should face the other way to check behind the train and not the train itself. I'm confused!

Very nice overall. Ornate windows on the body, train style on the door. Makes it look a little different and more door-like. Roof seems a little tall and short.Maybe 6 long instead of 4? Don't see a way to make it shorter though, unless you snot the windows.
@RobinHoodBricks4 жыл бұрын
Like all LEGO trains it's hard to get the proportions right on a six wide body and without going very long!

You built the caboose backwards in America the top of the caboose is to the front of the train and door on the end

Well I checked this before I filmed and BrickTsar had it this way. Also the red lights are on the back. Maybe you're right on the cupola but the original set was this way and they seem to vary a lot in pictures. Most are double ended!

do the small windows on the top because it is supposed to be darker up there.

The brake van looks awesome and the frosty glas gives it more of a classic look (it feels older). However, i would suggest to add buffer at the back of the brake van but without the magnet coupler for more awesomeness

The frosted windows make it look like the cooking has frosted up the glass. You could also use that effect for another type of scene. I would. I like the fish/water sport signs the way you had them first. I missed seeing the window. Also. Anybody know where I can get some Real Fake Doors? I'm real tired of real doors cluttering up my house where I open them and I actually go somewhere and I go into another room.
