LEGO Connectors SORTED! Bricklink Order UNBOXED!

I FINALLY sorted my LEGO connector elements by part type! In this video, I go over the process of how they are sorted and stored. In addition to that my Bricklink order for the ski hill project has arrived! It includes parts for the chairlift and also a bunch of minifig parts for skiers and snowboarders.

I for one love sorting videos. Like you, my parts are based around the sterilite bins. (I use medium instead of large) But I do have a couple Akro Mils bins from back when they were a lot cheaper. I use those smaller drawers for many of the parts you had in you connectors collection. My collection is not as large as yours though!

I have heard it put perfectly before and you highlighted it well in this video, "It is easier to find a specific color in a bin of the same parts than to find a specific part in a bin of mixed parts all the same color" I like to sort by part type first, color separation comes when there is enough of one color part to justify that having its own space.

Love the sorting out I bought a bulk lot of Lego from marketplace and after washing and sorting by colour I agree sorting by part type is a better idea. The lot came with instructions, lots of Star Wars vehicles which I have been gradually building and some have been missing a part which I have been making a list to do an order after checking PAB walls. I think I saw all of them in your connector drawers 😂😂😂.

thanks! I found this useful. I have been doing this for ages. I never quite have enough drawers and I wondered how many I would end up using. My logic has been a bit like yours and find that sprting is relaxing and satisfying, however I always conclude I need more drawers.

Something I'd suggest is to glue a small single brick of some kind that you don't mind sacrificing, then you could attach whatever is in the drawer on it. If you have a drawer with a number of different things you could add 3 or 4 single studs. This will help too as you move stuff around. The single stud is still attached to the drawer for the next thing you have in it

Those little plastic zip-lock bags that your order came in.... you should put those bags inside those sorting containers - then you can sort each part type by colour as well within each box.

Hey Jordan, I also sort by type and not by colour, works great for me!! Also I "stack" a lot of my parts (like in pab cups) saves even more space And I stick NFC tags on the drawer fronts for quick identification

I have small zip lock bag that are 2" x 3". I use there for tokens from goard games, some miniatures builds, story minifigure parts that go together, and when I have a few bricks of one type.

Great work Jordan - i agree it is satisfying to be able to quickly put your hand on the correct part. For me it was the same for the technic pins (friction vs non friction). A further recommendation for you would be on the clips that hold onto bar elements would be sort by vertical or horizontal hold. I found myself always looking for the opposite style. I had the same with brackets (normal vs inverted). Stay well

Instead of taping the parts directly to the bins, have you considered recycling the old road plates by removing the parts with studs and taping it to the front of the bins so you can place parts on them? This will allow you to change the parts used to label the bins around easier around as you reorganize parts.

Sorting by part type first and color second is the only way to go in my opinion. It's easy to pick out a certain color when all the parts r the same, not so easy when ur looking for a part when every part in that particular color r all together. Downside is the amount of time and SPACE it takes to sort by piece and color. There r over 70k different parts as far as part type and multiple colors of each part type. But yes, it is absolutely worth the time it takes to organize it this way. Makes building so much easier and fun

I don't think that's a good idea, the new avengers tower is already disproportionate to the regular modular buildings. Bricksie's beefed up Modulars might be big enough to look right next to the new tower adding anymore will throw off the balance again

As a Dad of two kids (older than yours), I can’t help but wonder what the strategy is going to be for kid proofing. The newly sorted drawers and removing the clips made me think about that specifically. Will the kiddos just be off limits from the basement for their toddler years? Lol 😂
