The teeth being built like that makes it super easy to add in a 1x1 round plate with bar to attach a fire piece to. You can have a fire breathing dragon with like 2 or 3 extra pieces
@julien827
@julien827 Күн бұрын
even better: rotate the teeth, then use them to place one of the many fire pieces that ends with a bar, you really dont need any other piece than the flame one, plus rotating the teeth actually looks better cause it emulate them being on both sides rather than being in the center

alternatively you can turn the clip and put a piece of fire on that too. speaking of which... this set could use a handful of fire pieces and it would be perfect

I fell in love with this build as soon as I saw the initial pictures and after getting my hands on it, it immediately became one of my favorite dragons Lego’s ever made. In addition to being an excellent set on its own, I also love how much it resembles the classic 90s Castle dragon, it makes for an excellent companion set to the Lion Knights Castle. Great review as always, Jang!

I recently purchased this and love it for fantasy scenes and maybe eventually some Lego DnD play. I also enjoy how it provides easy inspiration for dragons of other colors/styles. The basic nature of the parts means you could easily build a white and blue version for a frost dragon

I already liked the wings, but now I love them! Vinyl or cloth pieces that are usually used give color and shape, but are thin and floppy and requires technic for the structure. It just doesn´t go well together. The brick built wings gives a cohesive look all around and the articulation is just the cherry on top!

IMHO the proportions are not just good, but really great. I like the squatted look of the hind legs. The dragon doesn´t look fat or particularly massive, but stable and strong. The length of legs and wings in relation to the torso also make perfect sense, great build.

I love this set, the green dragon is so cool! And it looks great displayed with the Dungeons & Dragons set. The red dragon has a more impressive-looking design I would say, but this green one just feels better constructed, it feels sturdier and is easier to pose and move around. And the bottom jaw actually stays attached, unlike the red dragon! I'm almost tempted to get a second one of this set (maybe once I can find it on sale) so I can build that awesome-looking sea-serpent as well and have both displayed at once.

The "feathers" you praise a lot are specifically equivalent to the primary coverts (sometimes just called "primaries") on a bird's wings. They are the larger, longer, veined feathers with developed quills that anchor to the base of the finger (starting from the 2nd finger). So it is very cool that the designer managed to recreate, or at least approximate, that same thing with a brick-built structure. Although to be fair, the designer could have also been trying to approximate the leathery, bat-like wings of some dragons where they fingers/digits can sort of accordion like that with a membrane connecting them. Either way the wings on the set are genius in engineering.

i bought the set before this review and it's pretty much as excellent as you described, but i'm unfortunately quite torn with the head. the profile and sithoulette is IMMACULATE, but it begins to look weird when shown at a front angle. it reveals how blocky the lower jaw is and some strangely colored pieces behind the brackets holding the Nexo shield pieces in place. i've modded the set to hide some of that because i still absolutely adore the idea of the head shape, especially the use of those claw pieces for the brow. I also got rid of the 2 x 2 "stopper" tile for more neck movement which was an extremely easy fix. I've seen a lot of comparison between this and the D&D dragon a year back here and as someone who built that dragon, i also think the two are comparatively sized and should work as a placeholder if you intend to replace the dragon in that set or need a fantasy dragon, but don't want to buy either the D&D set or a Ninjago dragon (what i did). You could totally mod it to be all green and use the fabric wings on the Lloyd's Legendary Dragon set from 2022 to make a fully green dragon to compliment Cinderhowl too.
@lukedogwalker
@lukedogwalker Күн бұрын
I see and appreciate the avian look the designer was going for, but I'd still like to try swapping the head for the one from the green T rex (with some small mods) to give the head real cinematic presence, because that's what dragons are all about!

Amazing set and probably the best Creator 3-in-1 in a while. It's very poseable so I can make some nice dynamic poses with it. It's perfect with the Lion Knights Castle, and offers a real good guys vs bad guy(s) scenario which the LNC mostly lacks on its own (the Black Falcon embassy is not making it past that gate, lol). My only complaint is the head sags. I worry it'll sag more over time, but it's manageable at the moment. I'll try pinching the female socket to keep it a bit tighter (no pun intended) like I did with some of my older Bionicles back in the day.

It seems like a missed opportunity not to include a Dragon Masters figure here, since this has the classic colors, and I think that torso is probably still in production. Nit-pick, though. The only thing that makes me question buying this is that it's the same price as the giraffe, and I think I'd just pick one or the other.
