i just discovered this channel yesterday and it seems like videos on it have completely fizzled out at this point, but i just wanted to throw in my opinion on them: these deep dives on the design of small representative builds are super cool. i'd love more videos like this that just showcase sweet little builds like this. the simplicity of both the destroyer and spider droid builds is incredibly elegant for how well they represent the movie. if you're out of interesting things in star wars to look at you could totally delve into other sci fi and dig up some interesting robots-- tars from interstellar, drds from farscape, daleks from dr who would all be fascinating to see in this ~50 piece simplistic scale.

I figured out how to put the antenna on to by building a clip line, ex: modified 1x2 plate with clip, modified 1x1 stud with bar on top of the back stud, 1x2 curved tile, modified 1x1 plate with clip, rapier attached using 1x1 studs with holes in them on top would position it in the right place and still keep the dome.

We both came to a similar conclusion with our Dwarf Spider Droid MOCs! The OG was such a cool design, and nailed the ball shape almost perfectly! - Hopefully later down the line lego makes a dome piece with a stud on the top of it!

My boys loved your custom Destroyer Droid and Spider Droids so much we got the parts for both and made them both for their droid armies. I would love to see your versions of the Vulture Droid and the Crab droid. love the final build, i remember seeing that 3x3 dome brick from the lego movie 2 sets used in dark bluish grey somewhere, could potentially be good for keeping both the orb shape and the antenna on top, i might have to try that out and see which design i prefer

I highly recommend IN_Verse’s spider droid on Rebrickable, it has that orb shape but still achieves the antenna on top!
@isaacschmitt48037 ай бұрын
Lego needs to hire you to design their minifig-scale druids! At the very least, as a freelancer . . . Also, I can think of one way to get the antenna in the middle, but it's definitely an illegal building method. Step 1: Find a way to get the center marked out Step 2: VERY CAREFULLY using a pin vise drill and PCB bits like you'd use for 40K modeling, drill out a tiny hole from the inside>out Step 3: Graduate to larger and larger bits, using the pilot hole from the outside>in until the hole is *just* large enough to allow the tip of the antenna bit to barely sneak through. Step 4: After that, it's just a matter of stacking a few studs inside the dome with the antenna on top, carefully slipping the dome over, and wham bam thank you ma'am, you've got the perfect Dwarf Spider Droid!
@thomaslardinois63839 ай бұрын

Alright explanation for where the foil pack droids come from: In the majority of Europe there are lego magazines and they release monthly with little foil bag sets having 50 peices average and they have been going on since about 2015! They've never been a gift with purchase or in a newspaper they are ONLY availible with the lego star wars magazines
@groovybones8 ай бұрын
Thank you for this! My knowledge of the foil packs boiled down to: - from Europe. - came with some sort of print media. And then I just didn’t bother doing any more research. My brain just filled in the gaps with “When you buy The Guardian they give you a Mandalorian polybag.”

I wonder if its possible to use the curved droid arm pieces to try and be flush against the central orb. If they can, maybe there's a way to have them go up the outside of the orb and meet at the very top of it to mount an antenna? I feel like its possible, but doing it without having it be too obtrusive could prove to be a challenge.
