Firstly, I'd like to say to anyone struggling with 3D design: You don't have to be an engineer, you just have to make sure the thing LOOKS like it could move properly, because that's what breaks most designs. Iron Man's suit is super unrealistic, but it LOOKS like it could work. Secondly, the little flame on the end of the flamethrower is what ignites the liquid being 'thrown'. It passes through the flame and becomes the actual flaming projectile.
@trumediamix14 ай бұрын
Funnily enough, the rockets don't kill you on a direct hit, either! You only get one-shot by them if you're too close to their impact AoE! I currently presume this wasn't entirely intentional, as I can't imagine how a shockwave and thermal burns are inherently more harmful than shrapnel and casings (in the context of rockets, ofc.)

That thing with the holes around the flamethrower is called a Heat Shield. The heat shield protects your hands from getting burned when you touch the barrel of a gun or exaust pipe.
@Year_of_the_Dell5 ай бұрын
And generally helps disperse heat...supposedly
@callsignapollo_5 ай бұрын
@Year_of_the_Dell i think you're thinking of a heat *sink* I've never personally heard anyone say that heat shields help dissipste heat other than by the nature of having holes in them to allow some of the passive air cooling the barrel would already do
@slipoma5 ай бұрын
@@callsignapollo_ because of the holes it has a higher surface volume so heat would leave it faster . not really enough to be that important but it does
@Blahblahblaafmn5 ай бұрын
The heat shield is actually for the gun itself, not your hands. No matter what if you touch a barrel after rapidly firing, you're gonna get burned. The idea is to disperse the heat so that the barrel doesn't just melt during sustained fire (you can look up videos of people demonstrating how easily and quickly a barrel can melt on a fully automatic rifle).

fun fact: the spotlight lore wise actually has an important use. in the time when old birds were being manufactured, they were used to fight off coil heads in war. coil heads are prone to malfunction under bright lights and loud sound, this is why old birds have spotlights and speakers. edit/update: i didnt expect this video to blow up after this comment and i especially didnt expect this to become the most popular comment. please stop arguing in the comments, i like @Willified's opinion on the matter. they basically state that this comment is just a theory but becuase its a theory doesn't mean its factually incorrect. anyways v60 is a pretty cool update isn't it?? i really like what they did with coils.

i believe that we have seen the sound warfare the old bird uses. The baby crying is so loud only instilling overwhelming fear as a giant robot stomps along the ground.
@JoltedAlive3 ай бұрын
Fear based warfare is such a fun thing to play with in fiction, see how hard you can drive the idea, how intense and gut wrenching it can truly get. Characters watch in abject horror as an overdriven loudspeaker blares the incomprehensible screams of the tortured and dying, shaking in the corner of a dim room only illuminated by flashing red emergency lights before the sound suddenly cuts. An acidic, slavic voice whispers from the speaker... "we... have come... for you..."
@BLS315 ай бұрын
2:10 The worst part about that "sound cannon" is that it doesn't play some loud fog horn or an air raid siren. The damn thing blares out the sound of screaming, crying children as it chases you. I think I read it somewhere that it was to induce disorieontation and panic into targets; something it does in spades.
@trumediamix14 ай бұрын
1:28 "It's called a walking tank despite not having any way to get into said tank." To be fair, that's because Old Birds are _metacontextual_ "tanks" - like how we equate people like Blitzcrank, Pudge, and Reinhardt (all of these three being CHONKY lads in our favorite games that can take "yes" amounts of damage) and are also individuals who walk on their own two legs. We're not saying they're tanks with legs - we're basically making a metaphor for how absurdly durable and dangerous they are. After all, you don't want to piss off a tank when you're in its range.

this video is 10000x times more helpful than *any* 3D modeling tutorial I have ever seen. You're only showing us your redesign of an existing model, but it was so informative that I learned so much more as a novice than I ever could following a dedicated tutorial. Dedicated tutorials tell me *how* to do certain things... but not *why* I need to do certain things. You explain everything without dumbing it down to describe the most fundamental stuff, and you still go into detail in every spot that it was needed, and I actually got to see how a model is made from mesh to rigging. Perhaps I couldn't do what you did from this video, but I have a good general idea on how to do it and can go for more precise tutorials for places I get confused at.

I have to say, this Lethal Company redesign is my absolute favorite to date so far! I'm a big fan of robots/mech designs and you really did a great job at enhancing how the Old Bird looks, especially with all the details you added to make them seem a bit more practical. Now for suggestions on to what you should remodel next, I think it'd be interesting on how you'd tackle the Thumper; given how they look and move in-game, I'd like to see the spin that you'd add onto them (especially with the multiple jaws they have on their head). Also I think it would be funny if you'd do a remodel video on April Fools that would just be on the Hygrodere/Bees.
