Strange comment to make, but YEARS ago I used to watch this channel back when it was legoboy productions. I would leave negative comments on those videos for no real reason other than the fact that I was just a dumb jealous kid. I truly hope that those comments were not hurtful, but that is often not the reality. I am genuinely sorry for those comments. This channel has grown so much, and is truly one of the best Lego channels on KZbin. Despite my previous actions, this is a quality channel that did not and does not deserve negativity. Fun fact about the colours of the Eiffel tower. There are actually at least 3 different shades of paint used so that it looks homogenous from a distance. It's repainted every 7 years, and it takes 2 -3 years to paint it. On it's lifespan, it went through 20 paint jobs, with variations in colours depending on the period. The tower was originally red, then went to yellow / beige taints, then reddish brown in the late 40s. It's been a while now that the tower is in it's current colours but I believe the ongoing job is a bit different due to the olympic games. It was never grey though, even if this choice makes sense. Anyway this monument is one of a kind, and I'm glad to see that lego gave justice to it. Thanks for the review.

I'll probably never buy it because of the price and it wouldn't fit under my roof (I'm not about to put an artwork like this on the floor), but wow the scale and engineering in this build is something to marvel at. The intricacies of the sets Lego come out with are just out of this world. The level of detail is making Lego bring in a lot more adult builders. Yes the cost is always a factor but the level of detail in the Eiffel Tower is just mind blowing as well as other sets. The problem is with sets they bring out that are 18+, it’s finding shelf space…great review

Get the colosseum, this set just released and will likely be around for 3-4 years at the minimum, I’m guessing the colosseum is going to get discontinued in a year or so. Also I think the colosseum is a bit cooler with its history in Rome, and the fact that it isn’t impracticality tall.

I really enjoyed building the Titanic which I didn't find very repetitive actually, to my surprise. The Titanic also fits perfectly on top of my book case in the living room, and it's a real eye catcher to visitors. But ... This Eiffel Tower, as awesome as it looks on display, is really too repetitive for me and just doesn't look like a fun build to me. And besides that, I also don't have a space available where I could actually put it on display. So in conclusion: awesome Lego set, just not for me. 🙂

I had the choice between getting this set this weekend, or the Titanic. Fun fact: The Eiffel Tower does actually have a garden beneath it, but it's not the 19th century one, and it's actually a secondary effect of the tragic terror attacks in the past, which mean that the entire base of the Eiffel tower is walled off and you have to go through security checkpoints to get in (though it is free to walk through the gardens, just not free to go up the tower itself).
@Kyezie1312 жыл бұрын
In my opinion LEGO reviewers and enthusiasts weigh the building process WAY too high. At the end of the day you buy the set because you like the model, and it really just doesn't matter how tedious or repetitive the build was. In this case it's about the destination not the journey. I personally love building LEGO and really take my time with it so it's never grueling (although I'm sure this set is still painful). But you're building it to get a beautiful finished product.

I don’t think we should consider piece count when comparing the largest lego sets. Weight is a better characteristic because I’m sure the 2017 Millennium Falcon and this Eiffel Tower weigh 20 times more than the World Map set

it may be big - does not have a WOW factor, not much detail. Its basically one look and that's it, does not make me want to look again or closely at it. Its still a great display piece thou for the right collector/builder. If this was the Statue of Liberty - i could see it being a hit. The millennium falcon - i do not need to say anything else.

It's beautiful overall. But two things bother me about the aesthetics: the very sharp break halfway between the second and third floors, and all those crossbeams and girders that don't touch the edge. Of course, it's Lego and there are constraints. But it's very noticeable.

It feels like lego is playing a continuous game of one-up-manship with themselves on making bigger and bigger sets. It's also crazy to think this thing is taller than all of my siblings (bare in mind they are all under 10 years old but still)
@magnuskallas2 жыл бұрын
As a follower of Lego for 3 decades, I will admit I've certain issues with some of the adult oriented builds. Price aside... In my opinion they have entered the area of true model kits, diorama building etc. and the Lego brick just doesn't cut as optimal form. Also they can't escape the uncanny, though they are touching the illusion of "realism". The theraphy of building is there, but the sets are costing more than many miniatures on the set of film production. Just my 2 cents...
