@burnzy321010 жыл бұрын
why do you need a V8? perhaps if americans lost weight they would get around just as fast with half as many cylinders and get 2x mpg
@theranter10 жыл бұрын
burnzy3210 Newsflash: A car having a V8 does not mean it's not fuel efficient. For example, the 2014 Corvette Stingray gets 28 mpg, which is comparable to many 4 cylinder cars that are on the market. And why do we need a V8? We like cars that have balls, big horsepower & torque. That Corvette I mentioned pumps out 450 horsepower and 460 ft. lbs of torque, which is a whole lot more than Toyota is squeezing out of 4 bangers that get 28 mpg. So, when you break it down, that V8 in the Corvette is using fuel to generate horsepower to move the car more efficiently than those 4 bangers are, which means, essentially, that the Corvette is better for the environment than a Toyota Corolla. And really? Fat American jokes? I'm an American, I'm 6' 3" and I weigh 175 lbs. Not all of us are fat. Grow up.
@spencer1981110 жыл бұрын
burnzy3210 ^^ What that guy said. Plus what makes you think I'm American? And what makes you think I'm overweight? And if you hate big engines so much why are you gushing about big engined cars all over your page?
@burnzy321010 жыл бұрын
Paul McGuire power of deduction and likelyhood brings to assume you're american. only in america do 4 cylinders get such poor mpg, i remember seeing the fiesta being launched over there and people shit themselves over 40mpg, that's nothing, my 2001 car gets 45mpg. onto the point of getting good mpg out of that 450bhp corvette, its not getting that mpg when its making 450bhp its getting that when its running on 4 cylinders, that's GM tech that's been around for a little while now, learn your shit. also i'm not saying ALL americans are fat but they have a reputation and statistics to back up the fact that they're fat so don't even bother trying to argue against it

@SpaceRangerSpin9410 жыл бұрын
Just because we make use of fossil fuels doesn't mean we don't desperately desire an alternative source of energy to be introduced to the world. Sadly, the existing infrastructure supporting gas, oil, and the like, is so well-established that (from what i've seen) nobody is willing to make the capital investment to help lessen our dependency on them. Yes, we use them, mostly because they're the most lucrative option for those in charge.
@dylanhallman152710 жыл бұрын
Reductio ad absurdum, much? Gee wiz man. This movement isn't supposed to be about preaching a life free from energy, it is about raising awareness of the consequences of fossil fuels and pushing towards alternate forms of energy that are far less devastating. To be human is to pollute the world. Everyone knows that.
@SpaceRangerSpin9410 жыл бұрын
I was speaking specifically on lessening our dependence on fossil fuels, not electicity production itself. An attempt at living entirely without energy would be asinine. I can see how my comment can be misinterpreted, but I support cleaner energy alternatives, not a life in the dark.

GENERAL: You guys are fucking idiots... Yes Greenpeace wants Lego to break it's partnership with Shell, or at least get Shell to stop digging in the Arctic.. Rocky Roxay: Also yes Greenpeace uses oil ALOT, but this is only because oil companies are not funding other sources of power. (Hydro, Wind, Solar, etc[SOLAR POWER ALONE could give the world 5x the power it uses if we just set up solar roads and solar panel roofs wherever possible]) Mainly because oil has a great profit behind it, whereas the other sources of power are almost self sufficient. Sporeboy100: Also are you fucking kidding me... This is not just about animal rights, this is about the fact that when you are drilling for oil you damage the environment as in, ice melting causing water levels to rise and weather conditions to intensify. As well as Arctic conditions(Snow and Ice) are formed in a beautiful way which is destroyed by drilling. The reason large companies can pretty much do what they want is because of the ignorant people like you lot who don't think about what they are doing and the side affects they are causing -_-
@michaelwolf869010 жыл бұрын
Tristan Williams LEGO isn't digging in the arctic, or fracking, or threatening adorable arctic animals. They are legally using the Shell Logo to make models of things in real life that have the Shell Logo on them. Or rather they were a very very long time ago. The LEGO Group doesn't have any ability to dictate Shell's Corporate Policy and if LEGO stops paying for the Shell trademark it won't stop Shell from doing a damned thing. Because there are TENS of THOUSANDS of gas stations worldwide that pay shell many many times the amount of money The LEGO group does annually to use their logo.
@MysteriousZorua10 жыл бұрын
I have not seen a shell branded Lego toy set in freakin years and that's what they seem to be implying In the video.. "Destroying child's imaginations with shell branded sets" so technically they're giving false information.. Pretty sure they ended the parternship? Heck, I haven't even heard of shell + Lego? as much as I want oil spilling to stop ruining the ocean, I think LEGO has NO control over what shell does. They're just looking for a well known brand to accuse. They're starting to use a alternative Plastic soon too.
@2dansonfan10 жыл бұрын
Way to completely avoid the real problem, Greenpeace. Removing the Shell logo from a few lego product lines wont do a damn thing for the environment. But i guess making a useless video like this is easier than going out and doing something about the problem.
@GreedyCapybara710 жыл бұрын
They're not interested in the environment, they're interested in donations. They want to remain relevant and well received, even though they are involved in all manner of unlawful and unethical deeds themselves. Spreading false information, maritime piracy, etc. If they were really interested in "saving the planet" they wouldn't be doing these things. They're not interested in the environment though, all they're interested in is staying relevant so they keep receiving donations.

Jameson Jokers That is a complete, invalid stretch of the message that Greenpeace is trying to send. They're not saying, "ABOLISH OIL! Who needs plastic?". Not at all! Nor are they hammering LEGO, like everyone says. Instead, they are requesting our backing in telling LEGO to stop supporting Shell, and their abhorrent methods of drilling oil. One can imagine that much of Shell's revenue comes from LEGO, and by removing LEGO's backing, we are weakening the support base for an oil company that is directly destroying the ice caps and the delicate ecosystems that they harbor.

Very few of us think wider than the tiny circle around us .... not acknowledging that even the tiny acts that might seem ineffective such as using less plastics actually count. We tend to be drawn with fast tidal wave of our daily life with its problems and difficulties to a degree which made us think of issues such as the environment as "none of my business" or "even If I change it won't matter". I can't understand how there's people who don't agree with Greenpeace in this capaign. Shell is using Lego (with Lego's consent) as propaganda, to convince children that what they do (drilling the Artic, their oil spills, etc.) isn't that bad. As somebody else said, what would you think if Malboro paid Lego to put Malboro's logo in Lego's toys, or to put tiny cigarettes in their hands?
@Andy85uk10 жыл бұрын
What a load of absolute rubbish... Lego has made a handful of sets since the 60's, and most recently some promotional polybag's, branded with Shell sold or given away at petrol stations, nothing more. There is no propaganda, no subliminal messaging, no Shell petrol station has ever had any kind of pro drilling advertisement in it, I'll bet children who even get the polybag's don't take any notice of the Shell branding, they probably don't even know what it is, let alone that Shell are drilling in the Arctic or any possible consequences. Greenpeace is going to achieve nothing with this Lego witch hunt so stop talking out of your arse.

Actually oil is just decomposed living material. It is just one long chain of carbon. The type of oil depends on the length of the carbon chain. You can essentially take anything that contains carbon, i.e. every living thing, and compress it to a point at a which it becomes oil. Banana peels, dead trees, animal carcasses, you name it. If it used to live, you can make oil out of it.

@Backflipgal128 жыл бұрын
They are supporting a company that does a lot of harm to the environment; just because they need oil doesn't mean they need to get it from a company that is notorious for destroying habitats. Lego has done a lot of campaigning for the environment, and their brand can have influence on children, so if they want to be taken seriously with their efforts they also have to cut all ties with the people who are against the nature they are for. If they didn't cut ties with Shell, they'd be hypocritical when they supported wildlife charities. It's like if I owned an orphanage while also getting money from a child slave trade. Just because I'm doing some good doesn't mean you can just ignore the immoral actions.
@andrewbuolo75908 жыл бұрын
***** The real problem is that they're not going after BP. BP is 10 times worse than shell. I'm surprised there aren't any campaigns against them. also that example is pretty bad when you wud be using children from the orphanage for the slave trade so wouldn't even matter in the first place that you owned the orphanage

ok but why was Master Chief standing in the middle of a hockey game?

Being a massive LEGO fan I find that doing this to minifigures is quite horrible and also it must have cost a fortune to buy and then just destroy it all. I have some Shell LEGO but it is not encouraging pollution and is doing the opposite of ruining imaginations. Also, LEGO have not made a Shell set since 2012.
@philipheinrich500810 жыл бұрын
LEGO hasn't made a Shell set since way back in 1999. They did release some Ferrari sets in 2013 in a limited market that had a shell logo on a piece. Cool video, but they're inventing a problem here.

Actually it is chocolate. Oil once refined is actually a amber color. Used oil turns black due to extreme heat and is illegal to not dispose of properly. They used dark chocolate to simulate unprocessed oil. Btw unprocessed oil is black but it is chunky.

Maybe if Greenpeace actually started creating more "green" energies that would also be more affordable than the current "green" energies, they wouldn't be hated as much. But no! Instead they choose to yell at people saying,"Shell must be stopped!". If Greenpeace finds an "actual real" alternative to fossil fuels, I'm all for them! But until the day when Greenpeace decides to fix the problems rather than complain, I will continue to dislike these people.

Greenpeace uses solar energy and encourages us to do it.

Ezio... Why would GP have to turn into an energy producer? Let me remind you they are a whistle-blower association. If you want to get into energy production yourself, don't hesitate! Secondly, you're apparently one of those numerous people who refuse to change anything in their own way of life, who always look for the best bargain without thinking of the consequences - i.e. even if the best bargain contributes to the destruction of our planet. Wake up buddy! The transition to clean energies HAS a cost, that must be shared among all of us - you and me included. You know what? I made a step forward no later than yesterday, finally quitting my historical electricity provider - who relies on nuclear energy for 80% - for an "actual real" clean energy provider. This will cost me +34% on my bills, but I feel happy not giving my money to the nuclear industry anymore. Will you be the next one to make a step forward? Or will you continue complaining without taking action?...

There is enough renewables or safe alternatives to run the world, all that is needed is the political will to do it.
