LEGO Harry Potter 2022 Advent Calendar (76404) Review

Even though they aren't festive themed, having 5 of the 7 minifigures be new and exclusive versions of characters make this Advent Calender a win in my book.

The colours on the quidditch mini build represent slytherin and gryffindor’s colors as they are the two houses that played at harry’s first quidditch game.

Re Hagrid's motorcycle if the grey sloping piece is supposed to be sidecar it is on the wrong side. It should be on the left hand side not the right hand side.

Have to agree about this year's Advent Calendar. It's not great and definitely not festive. Main reason I got it (on sale from Target during their Black Friday event) was the for a couple of the minifigures (Tonks, Neville with the sword of Gryffindor).

I think the mini scale dementor is perfect as an accessory for Lego Ned Leeds since he has a Lego Death Star in Spider-Man Homecoming

I’m sorry, I can’t disagree more on the triwizard cup build. It’s absolutely the best build we’ve gotten of the three so far. The first was just a standard trophy piece that doesn’t work whatsoever, the second was a blocky little candelabra piece with a 1x1 brick. Those didn’t work, so even if this is the third time we’ve gotten a triwizard cup, I absolutely believe it’s an effective build

I think you've been overly critical of this calendar. I like the structure of having 3 items for each film, and I do agree with the 4 or 5 you pointed out to be a slight let down... but overall a nice set!

Would you advise buying the calendar purely for minifigs? Or maybe waiting for 2023 and choosing between 2023 and 2022 calenders?

I personally often do that as especially these days, I only seem to love 4-5 of the builds. Though I would certainly wait and get it on sale so that it ends up being cheaper to buy the whole thing than just the figures off Bricklink

I think this is honestly my favorite advent calendar out of all the Harry Potter sets. The exclusive figures are well appreciated, and I honestly prefer having a multitude of microbuilds based on memorable setpieces or locations from the series, rather than a bunch of small side builds, together forming some sort of disjointed collective display.

I was super disappointed in this advent calendar - it should be at least somewhat festive, being an advent calendar and it was not at all. Plus a number of the builds were not particularly recognizable to the point where I only figured it out some from your video - namely Ollivanders, the triwizard cup, the room of requirement. There were a few interesting builds - gringotts, horace slughorn couch, motorbike flying over the water, a few interesting minifigures - voldemort, tonks, neville, and a few interesting pieces - the parchment, the azkaban sign, the sword, but nothing I absolutely loved, so overall I would rather have spent the money on other sets.

As advent calendar go, it’s not great, not Christmas themed at all. I think Lego knows that hp Lego fans will buy it regardless of what’s in it.

I'm only up to day 6 so far but this is by far my favourite Lego Harry Potter advent calendar yet. Nice figures and interesting builds. Much preferable to Christmas trees and dining tables.

Good heavens, so much whining and negativity! If you find it boring, maybe that's because you've bought SO MUCH Harry Potter Lego, and instead of making you happy, you are just complaining now - complaining about the builds that have been done before, and complaining about the ones that haven't, calling them "obscure". This just comes off sounding like an over-spoilt child. Maybe it's worth reflecting on whether you just already have more than enough HP Lego...? Children found these builds and minifigs delightful, and that was the point of the product.
