The Burrow is my favourite location in Harry Potter. This set does capture some of the charm of the location, but overall looks quite disappointing. It doesn't seem to make the most out of its size and parts budget. The front door area looks pretty inaccessible and empty, there is not even a suggestion of a staircase, and (as far as I can tell) there is no way in or out of Ginny's room. I think I'm finally going to pick up 75980, it has more charm for less than half the price on the aftermarket. I suppose in some ways this shows what a great designer Wes Talbott is! I appreciate how much effort and work goes into the graphics for stickers, but I gotta say, the amount in this set looks ridiculous. I’m fine with stickers being used to represent more difficult details, but at a certain point I feel like the medium of lego loses its charm if stickers are used too heavily in a set That being said, this build is really beautiful! The Burrow is actually one of my favorite buildings in the HP universe, even if it isn’t as iconic as a lot of other locations

I do like this set alot, featuring most rooms in the movie that are very detailed and the house shows alot of character however a person who has already purchased the older version of the burrow for over half the price you can’t help comparing the 2 and whilst this new set does include some sufficient amounts of new features I can’t quite explain why would you bother replacing the older one when it’s a set that would probably have a greater appeal to the average Lego fan. The only thing I admire Lego for doing is making a model on the bigger side as these sets appeal much more to people despite the price I think. Maybe make even a full quidditch pitch, full hogsmeade, ministry of magic that are all sets that have been made before but haven’t felt as complete as a set like the old burrow did. Anyway slight disappointment for me but I’m just excited to see how this “new version” of the castle turns out! Thank you Tiago

My favorite part of HP is Chamber of Secrets, so I tend to collect every set that's part of that. And especially when it comes to such a magical place as the Burrow. It was a rare glimpse into wizards' ordinary lives. So to me it's a more iconic piece than Hogwarts Express, which Harry didn't even use in a number of books for various reasons. The Burrow also fits really well with Lego's strategy for HP that encourages customers to come back for more with sets that are either modular, mechanical or thematic fit. Ex. the GWP looks like a perfect fit for the Diagon Alley playsets, and before you know it - you can end up having the whole movie on your shelf. It is also more reasonably-sized. My issue with Gringotts is its massive "basement" which I wouldn't know what to do with. I imagine we'll be getting a playset version of Gringotts in the future anyway. So yeah, I'd rather have multiple thematic "complexes" with a ~$250 centerpiece and a bunch of smaller sets around it - than a single $500 set that doesn't really pair with anything; like I'd build it, put it on shelf and then what? And I get it about "scraping the barrel" thing. That's probably the only reason Malfoy Manor will be a thing. It's not such a bad thing, because it opens way for sets which would previously had no chance. UCS Aragog's Lair? UCS Azkaban?

@scottcook29792 ай бұрын
There are still some areas of the castle that I am surprised LEGO hasn't made into sets yet. A library with a restricted section play feature? The wooden bridge with a "exploding" play feature? I'm still hoping for some kind of UCS Quidditch pitch, complete with stands and grounds and towers. Maybe even some blister accessory/blister packs of the various houses so we can build out our favorite teams.

I disagree, the Burrow is very iconic for me. I was honestly surprised it wasn't done before for 18+ Collectors edition. I really wanted to, because I thought it could be amazing in terms of build technics and build creativity. For once, a building that is highly non classical (buildings are sets I find really nice, but always worried about the building experience, and HP (fav theme) has mostly that). I was really expecting this review... and I'm very disappointed... no waouh at all reagrding the build. When that was the primary reason why I wanted this set to exist... And there's something about the overall look, I don't know what/how to explain, but it's not very nice looking for me, probably again disappointed by the shape and technics used.
@alexandre79463 ай бұрын
And even though many are surprised to see Bill and Charlie... I was expecting no less. It would have been a very big mistake, and a major downside to the set to not include all the family! A little something for the Ghoul in the attic would have been perfect (specially since it's the only part of the house very plain).

I´m totally up to you! It feels like TLG picked here randomly a building out of the Franchise to bringe it on shelfs. The Gringotts Bank has been an iconic place in the movies and looks fantastic (even if the underground hasn´t been a necessary build for me). Same for the Diagon Alley. But this set feels a bit displaced for me (only in the movie it has been burned down - in the books nothing like this ever happened). So waht´s that special about it!?! In my eyes it looks like a "playset" and not like a "UCS" one. Sure the rooms are build very well sand a lot of easter eggs are in, but I´m missing THAT one specific extra which triggers me. For me not worth the price as I´m missing the great added value related to the originally released playset...

The Burrow and the rumoured Malfoy Manor set coming out next year should have switched places. The content within Malfoy manor in and of itself is more appropriate for adults (torture, severing a hand, massacre) than kids and thus is more deserving of the 18+ collector's tag. The manor is also considerably bigger and more imposing and would make for quite the display piece, unlike what its playset counterpart will likely lack in come next year. The Burrow was recently done as a playlet in 2020, yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it couldn't do without a refresh provided that new figures and/or an upgraded build were included. Regardless, despite the inclusion of all the Weasley figures and some nice references, I do agree that this set was an unnecessary choice for a "Collector's Edition." TLG could have picked better and hopefully they do so with next year's CE set.

I think I remember a quick scene where Arthur had that hat….at least it seems familiar?

Yep. Shortly after Harry arrived at the Burrow, Arthur comes along with the hat! Chamber of Secrets

@@TiagoCatarinoYes! lol. I remember how goofy he looked. I need to go back and watch the movies again. It’s been a while. Thanks for responding! I love your channel!

😮 wait, so there is no in universe access to the rooms via stairs, ladders and doors? Was it like this in the film?

I disagree with Tiago on this one - The Burrow is a far more iconic location than Gringott's Bank. Maybe it can't be made to look as fantastic as Gringott's, and maybe it's a more important location in the books than in the movies, but I'm very pleased that they've given The Burrow the full 18+ treatment. It's going to be the first HP set that I'll buy, although the excuse is that it's for my wife because she's a red-head and can't resist having that many red-headed minifigs.

My only issue with this set is the inclusion of the short legs for Harry, Ron and Ginny, they should have been the medium legs at least. The actors were already getting taller in the second film, and I think the only sets where the main cast should have short legs would be sets based on the first film.

I think it's more about scale. The set features children, teenagers, young adults, and adults, so they wanted some differences between them.

@@jardex2275 I can follow that logic. I’m more annoyed by the fact that the short legs don’t bend I suppose.

Don’t care much for Harry Potter (don’t hate it either) but that structure by itself, looks very cool and well designed.

Luckily im full of themes, so my recent adventure into harry potter can be easily limited. At the moment, my only in progress item is the slowly expanding play scale diagon alley. I'm sure this will be amazing for newer harry potter first lego collectors.
