And in Speed Racer movie based series released in 2008, since Rain(the K-pop star) starred in the movie as Korean based character, there are his minifigures in two sets(8159 and 8160) and some stickers in Korean language in his car(8159).

BTS has a huge, young fan base that’s willing to spend money, so a lot of them will be getting this set, and many will enjoy it and decide to start building other sets. Hi Fatelvishguy If I may add to this 😊 You are right that there is a lot of young fans of BTS. But what most people don’t know is that over half of the fandom (BTS ARMY) is 25+ - Most people being late 25-39 and a lot in their 40s. But you’ll find a lot of ARMY in their 50s, 60s, 70s - even 80s and some in their 90s. E.g. I am 32. While there is absolutely nothing wrong about being a young fan, I just wanted to add this to your and other readers knowledge 😊 Have a great day and Thank you for your nice comment. Well, why not? It maybe a simple set for LEGO fans, but the idea of the set is good. We had a set for Friends, we had a set for The Office, why not something else, especially if it's very popular. I don't normally buy LEGO. I am a 41-year-old BTS ARMY and came looking for a review out of curiosity. Sadly, what I seem to be learning from the comments under this video is that a lot of LEGO fans are incredibly toxic and unkind. I know there must be some who aren't that way - just like in the BTS fandom there are many of us who aren't toxic. But as a first impression I just find it pretty sad that so many are making abusive and/or racist comments about BTS and their fans. Why is this necessary? If you don't like the build, that's fine. But making rude and/or racist comments is uncalled for. I will be buying this set, because it's BTS, I have plenty of disposable income, and also because for me, as a person who is not already a LEGO expert, it seems accessible. But I can't say the comments here give me any desire to look more into the LEGO fan community.

Thank you for your detailed and friendly review. It would be great if for some LEGO fans who don't really know BTS, this collab would make them curious to check them out. Dynamite was released during the pandemic to cheer people up, it's a disco-pop track (hence the design). However, BTS are the most diverse artists you can imagine with a 10-year discography of over 300 songs in any genre you can imagine. Give their This Is BTS playlist on Spotify a try if you are a bit curious now - you won't regret it!

Thank you for your open-minded attitude to this! This set isn’t my jam. So what? That doesn’t make it a bad set. This doesn’t seem any weirder for Lego than Central Perk, the [TV] Friends Apartments, Fab Five Loft, or The Office sets. The way I see it, my budget is finite. So long as I’m not running out of Lego to buy, every set that isn’t for me is just one less set I need to either budget for, talk myself out of, or suffer FOMO. (If anything, the Rivendell set is “worse” because it’s 5x the cost and I _do_ want it.)

It's not for me but I do like the look of it. I feel like it'll definitely bring a lot of new fans into the hobby because BTS fans go crazy for them. I'm not mad it exists but I am annoyed that Lego took almost 60 ideas and only gave us 2 sets from it. The donut changed bc the fandom (army) is known as purple also their phrase is I purple u 💜. (Borahae) is the last color of the rainbow purple and bora means trust and love each other until the end and was said during the dynamite song era hence why I belive it’s purple. Also the first creation kinda lacked color. And the stage design from what u showed us is cool. Now is it super creative and all that compared to other sets we’ve seen no but there is a lot of cool details. And also bts stands for being creative and yourself. So I think it goes to show that u should be creative and do what you like. I feel like it’s deeper than what none bts fans might see it. When u hear BTS as an army u think about the hardship the boys went through and how they never gave up how bts has always been creative in each their videos and concepts. How being creative and genuine and being true to ur self will lead u to success regardless of what others think. So to someone this might be a boring set but it’s so deeper than just a boy band respectfully this is aimed to the comments not ur video and also the general public. Now I understand people are mad but there is lego fans and bts fans who love it. Just how there’s Harry Potter Jurassic park Starwars lord of the rings polly pocket and so on sets for fans. Armies deserve this too. If not why lego doesn’t just sell legos without licensing merch ? U get set ups to create and play with in ur own way. It isn't the fact that this set exists that irks me. It's the idea that so many creative and well-thought out concepts lost to this hastily-constructed, lackluster design that ultimately will receive minimal reception. The idea that a far worse design was chosen simply based off the popularity of BTS goes against the Lego Ideas mission of rewarding and encouraging fan designers to submit well-thought out and polished builds. The original submission was lousy, and this set is bland aesthetically. And with a $100 price point, most BTS fans aren't going to fork out that kind of cash for what's essentially 7 minifigs and a few plain walls. Edit: Oooh! I sparked a little debate here! I love this sort of thing. Anyways, y'all bring up some really interesting points. (I also clearly underestimated the dedication of BTS Army...We'll see how good sales are come release date)

Ideas as a platform changed a lot over the years. Initial releases were probably kept close to the original design, but with a few exceptions LEGO designers usually have to rework the submission almost fully, keeping the "idea" but loosing most of the building solutions of the submission. That's one of the usual complaints of AFOLs btw after the official version is revealed. Now that we have the Bricklink Designer program in place where the aim is to bring fan designs to the market as close to the original submission as possible, I think Ideas might have a possibility to really focus on *ideas*, and not perfect polished builds. I respect all builders who make a nice detailed modular house, an amazing Creator or Speed Champions-style car, but I really see no point having these sets in the Ideas theme that could have been a regular LEGO set otherwise. Considering the fact that there are more and more Ideas sets being released nowadays, and there's also the Bricklink designer program, such sets absolutely have place in the portfolio and they don't take a "slot" from anyone else.

This comment might be the funniest thing I've ever seen. The idea that BTS fans won't buy is actually hysterical. I'm one of those fans, 41 years old with more than enough disposable income to spend, and a huge portion of their fandom is exactly like me. You may not be aware, but we sold out Hyundai SUVs and created a massive backlog when they endorsed those, so a $100 LEGO set is child's play (pun intended).

Well with them using stickers you can just make your own. No need to spend $100 there are many army who have their own tumblrs and igs that have their own bts lego builds that also provide images to sticker print yourself. It's definitely over priced just because they slapped bts name on it.

You just outed yourself as someone who apparently has been living under a rock. lol Jokes aside, BTS has been one of the biggest artists globally for the last couple of years, with an absolutely enormous worldwide fanbase. Now, BTS might not be your taste or a group that you are interested in, and that is perfectly fine - different strokes for different folks. But to say that something is weird or shouldn't exist, purely based on your personal knowledge of that 'something' is a tad ridiculous. This set is clearly made for fans. Just like the FRIENDS set is made for fans of FRIENDS etc. So what's the difference?

Hah, I'm no fan of BTS, but the video this set is based on has 1.6 Billion (with a B) views). For comparison, Queen at Wembley has about 200 Million. Maybe the band is not your cup of tea, but they are certainly well-known. Plus, Lego seem to be desperately trying to get a bigger foothold in that sweet sweet Asian market.

BTS is a 7 member (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) group from South Korea and are considered the biggest group in the world.

From a design point of view I think there were so many great Ideas sets that were much better than this one and they got rejected. But I guess the idea (no pun intended) of Lego ideas was just to make money after all, and I think for that purpose I'm not surprised why this set got picked.

It’s actually a really bad looking set. The plainness, over reliance on stickers and the not nice looking studded ground makes it look like a 20 years old set or those knockoffs you can get on AliExpress.

Every fanbase has some toxicity, but most fans aren't. But BTS also get a lot more hate for no good reason so you can't blame fans for getting defensive when people make ignorant comments about them.

The minifigs don’t look very Korean. Seems Lego is afraid to accurately depict asian facial features for fear of being accused of racial caricaturing - so as a result they’ve depicted BTS as a bunch of white Europeans. Awkward.

This will be the worst IDEAS set ever. It does not have creative design, no more new pieces, and also overpriced. It insults other wonderful IDEAS design. Old fishing store, lighthouse, Saturn V, treehouse, starry night, and maze are best IDEAS imo. LEGO now is only for making money instead of improving their designs. Bad things should not replace good things

Spinal Tap! instabuy. A microscale Stonehenge with dancing leprechauns. Exploding drummer, and a gardening drummer, and a choking drummer. Amps that go to 11. Ridiculous 70/80's fashion and hair. An all-black 2x2 tile for an album cover that does not require a print or a sticker; or even better, a 2x2 black tile with a printed all-black face. An aluminum, matte silver chromed, covered hot dog or maybe a carrot or a wand? A guitar you can't touch. A birthing pod you can't escape from. A piano masterpiece in D minor. A backstage vignette with no access to the stage. Somebody with the time, please please please do this.
