Lego needs more trains! No ands, no if’s, no buts! They need more trains, especially steam engines, and please Lego, don’t pull the whole being modern excuse please, because that is a very invalid statement proven many times before! Britain is a big example of this, look it up!!

Let's negotiate, let's say LEGO releases a train exclusive line up again, but releases in the first run 3 locomotives, 2 or 3 wagons, from all over the world, would 2 steam engines, 2 electric locomotives, and two diesel be fair? And for these engines, none of them will be big names, just to see if it's worth it. The wagons will also come from variety of regions, and would consist of traditional post-war American 40ft steel boxcars, a British MK1 or MK2 coach, a modern German ICE coach, and a European 2 axle wagon set (with 2 or 3 styles in it), the engines will be an EMD GP38-3, a British 4-6-2, and a European steam, diesel, or electric, would that be fair for a first run to see what the reception would be? And if it's successful, what would a second, or 3rd or 4th run look like? Also, I just want to note, Britian and the US have roughly the same number of steam engines that can move under there own power. You just hear of the British ones more because they are better funded, and not used a PR stunts...*AHEM UNION PACIFIC* Also congrats, you got me to talk about trains longer than 2 minutes... now for my mandatory USS Barb ending as such...

@@BattleshipOrionThis may be an unpopular opinion, but I want them to make more American stuff than that. There are so many underrated gems in America, and I’m tired of seeing LEGO make European stuff instead. Where’s our LEGO C&O 490? Or San Joaquin Daylight? Or, maybe they could even team up with the T1 trust to give us an officially licensed and/or sponsored PRR 5550! So many cool opportunities out there.

I'll support a few more modern designs, aswell as what fits my prefference. When I think of adults, I don't think Thomas the train, I think actual trains. The General Electric B40-8W would be a cool one if LEGO can get licenses from BNSF again, aswell as a C44-9W, or ES44__ (railfans can fill in the blanks, or just make it a customizable kit). Personally, I'd go for a BR52, or BR86 for steam engines, or the Siemens Vectron locomotives.
@classicallpvault8251 Жыл бұрын
Just get the COBI BR 52, and mod it. E.g. move the flanged wheels from the 1st and 5th to 2nd and 4th driving axle, and rebuild the very front of the undercarriage and change the smaller blind drivers there for flanged wheels that can follow the curvature of the track. MOC builders in Germany have managed to do it in smaller scale (8w) recreations of the BR 52 so it's doable and probably not even that hard. The look of the model is absolutely stunning and it's also made to be easily motorised.

@ShyGuyXXL Жыл бұрын
Being a small set is a good thing! Lego NEVER makes any train sets that are just a small locomotive, these days. And I don't mean the tiny polybag ones. All train sets with actual locomotives are HUGE, with way too much stuff in them, which a more humble family can't afford. Which I think is why Lego trains haven't been selling well. The barrier to entry is gigantic. The cheaper sets are all just things like tracks or motors. If they sold a small tank engine on its own, I bet it would sell! The 40th anniversary Steam Engine (40370) was a really nice retro set, but unfortunately it was just a Gift with purchase, so you couldn't even buy it directly.
@classicallpvault8251 Жыл бұрын
BlueBrixx sells way better trains, which can be bought piece by piece rather than as a set. They also have an entire line up of 8-wide models which go to a whole new level of detail.
@ShyGuyXXL Жыл бұрын
@@classicallpvault8251 I've considered buying some BlueBrixx sets, but judging by the youtube reviews, it seems like their quality leaves something to be desired. Both in terms od the quality of the bricks, as well as the quality of the designs themselves. I've heard they easily fall apart. Maybe they've gotten better since then, I dunno. What's your experience?
@airworks7809 Жыл бұрын
And also existing trains are hard to expand. You can buy tracks,but not cars. Yeah you can buy a second set but that ain't cheap! I more like the my own train approach, with individual locos, coaches etc. Had a knockoff of this series and i got them gradually, piece by piece - cheap entry, high customization, so many options! While lego makes 2 train sets that are the same each year and wonders why they don't sell. Trains must be a SYSTEM.
@ShyGuyXXL Жыл бұрын
@@airworks7809 Exactly! The joy of Lego is starting with something small and then gradually adding on to it. It puts you into the collector's mindset. But if you already have a huge set with everything in it, there's nothing to add on to it. But if you start with just a locomotive, the sky's the limit!
