Never knew the Tatra had offset wheels... but now that I do know it's going to bug me that it isn't symmetrical. Like a painting that's crooked ever so slightly.

Not ALL of them have asymetric chassis, older type was symetrical but they used different sizes of bewel gears for right and left wheels, but that caused problems, like: differentials was almost always working and also creating more stress when everything was locked I was in military school in Czech republic (I´m studying in CZ) for trip and they almost closed me in hangar with T815 8x8 Kolos because it was THAT late :D
@PANNARALEJ4 жыл бұрын
This is the most authentic Lego model of this iconic truck. Many others don't do the offset wheels, so that was a pleasure to see in to your design. I hope that some day you can go back and create a set of plans/instructions for this, as I know that others sell their building instruction for their designs.

I am stunned a how successfully you have made a replica of the Tatra truck. Here in Australia they are developing a bit of a following in the specialist all terrain truck market. As a Tatra car nut for years may I suggest that you build a 603, or a T 87 or a Tatraplan please. Amazing channel mate.

awesome, what i find cool about this fan made sets is how the vehicles are very close looking o the real ones, different from the official sets where you have in many case ugly skeletal structures. i have 2 technic sets, one of them is a fire truck , the entire inferior part if just a red skeleton, , i dont get why lego refuse to put some more parts and make a nice full structure.

Awesome job. I know you have a lot planned, but have you ever thought about looking into making the PL-01 Concept in Lego?
@searme6 жыл бұрын
Been asked about PL-01 more times than I can remember already. And I'm not going to touch it for a very simple reason: it was total crap. It was so crappy that Polish military has cancelled the whole project back in 2015, and even the word "project" is not deserved here, because it was just a haphazard mockup based 90% on existing Swedish APC everything they said about it was pure science fiction. It was never going to work they way it was said to work, some PR people just got bored and pulled a lot of stuff from thin air.

it kinda remind me of the suspension used on the Laffly trucks used by the French army in 1940, the only differences is that is has only one differential and 4 drivetrains, 2 for the rear wheels and two more for the front wheels, also the front wheels can be connected and disconnected independently from the other, i find it really neat, the only issue with it being that the transfer case is a wee bit more complicated than in others all wheel drive system (the transfer case on the 4x4 V15 has 4 levers) here a link with some pictures of trucks and an article showing some drawings of the system pangea-systems.com/wwiiws/vehicles/transport/laffly/

@searme6 жыл бұрын
Use what you want, but there are no differentials here.
@legomasterbuilder91186 жыл бұрын
It is just the 90 degree transmission that looks like a differential, but as Sariel said, no differentials, so more torque and no slipping👍🏻
@drawingboard826 жыл бұрын
I like them too. Wondering how to incorporate an actual differential. Tatra use concentric shafts and the diff unit is on the drive end. Very difficult to implement something similar in that form factor.

@ocbrumm6 жыл бұрын
Nice build as always:) On thing tho, there has to be a bit of "shock absorber steering" in that setup or am i missing something?
@searme6 жыл бұрын
Um, no? Why would there be? Shocks are vertical, steering is horizontal.
@ocbrumm6 жыл бұрын
Im probably using a confusing term as I didn't know what to call it. When the wheels go up and down it seems some change in the steering would happen as the steering rod isnt the same level as the pivot point of the wheels.
@searme6 жыл бұрын
The steering links are aligned with suspension arms, so no, not really.
