LEGO Road Building Hack! Cliffs & Winter Village Update

Today we continue working on the LEGO winter village. I intended to do a bunch of different things around the room, but I am addicted to working on this new project! Today we finish building the cliff edge, improve the roads, add a sidewalk, and build the new Christmas tree set!

Maybe add some small cheese wedges to the road, it will fit in bigger holes and makes the road look as if there a different kind of stones

I love the way the winter village is looking so far! Sorry I missed the other updates. That cobblestone build technique is just brilliant! I love it! Can't wait for the final result with the minifigures, details and story telling! Glad the twins are doing well.

I think it would look great to have "snowbanks" on either end of the Tram Track (ie. some 2x2 white slopes, maybe?) to "block" the end of the track, and keep the trolley "snowed in".

I have a tiny space to display a city/village. It is nice to see how even in a small space you can still create a village look. I am working on fall items right now, I will have to add that road idea for my winter transition.

The road looks great - nice idea with it. Maybe some nit picking with the clif edge. To be honest the side clif edge looks better with the off color parts than the clif edge from the front.

I think a paper cutting board would work perfectly for cutting up baseplates. It has a sharp blade, and the board has a grid, which will help even everything

I feel like if you added some white 1x2 tiles and 1x1 wedge slope in some of the gaps of the road you would get a good snow look while also not leaving large-ish gaps in it.

A lot of slopes have gone into this video. But the results looks very nice. Also the snow detailing along the side of the road is nice. Adding snow to the rocks will probably also require a lot of white bricks. But I am sure you will make it look good. X-mas tree is huge, but fits perfectly with it.

Build a base and a half MILS PLATE for one of the buildings on the platform using any other color of half baseplate. put the gray part of the plate under the road.

You could totally get away with doing the cobblestone slope road through the whole village, the baseplate color really doesn't show through too well, and the cobblestone effect looks so pretty for the village

This is looking amazing! I love your cobblestone road and the sidewalk. I was a bit skeptical about the tree but now that it's in place, I it looks really good. I think your lower area would look good with only one building but maybe a few more community items--hot chocolate stand, a little forest off to the side, etc. Can't wait to see what you do with this next.

Hey Jordan , love progress on the winter village scene, the road built using slopes is amazing! Looking forward to seeing the finished scene and I think you need to experiment with using lights to make it really festive, the cave area of the ice rink will need lights anyway so I think you should just go for it! Hey! I’m gonna suggest some ideas for the winter village, once the main structure and all the big stuff is placed and when you get to details, I thought a snowball fight somewhere would be cool, maybe take a few ornaments off of the big tree and make it look like the villagers are still decorating the tree. And also a little festival with vendors that sell like scarfs, hot chocolate, and ornaments. This has to be one of my favorites you have ever done and I’m so excited to see it done!

Winter village is coming along great!!! I think it would be really cool to incorporate a hot chocolate stand and set it up next to the ice skating rink. Having some Snow Troopers from Star Wars standing around, drinking hot chocolate would be hilarious. Along with a Snowball fight scene and some Christmas Carolers. The possibilities are endless. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what's next!

You can can make a end station, so the train doesn't go all the way over. with the spare space, make a stairway which connects the upper and lower platforms. 🙂

Just a hint from experience, getting the Hogsmeade buildings attached to a mils plate isn’t as easy as you’d think. I had to massage pretty much every stud individually to stick it to the plate

Bricksie, if you need to, take a break. Maybe when you detail the rock section you could add little sapling like snow covered trees. The fact that you are able to stay sane, on such a small amount of sleep and taking care of your twins. Is completely beyond me. The amount of sacrifices you make must be ridiculous.
