At 8:00 I totally agree about how sometimes less is more with fewer colors. I think that's the real win with some of the older space sets is the color theme really differentiated the various factions well. I think that's something that contributes to it being so iconic.

Great set, love space police! I totally lucked out and got this set about two years ago for $100 BIN on eBay. Then the seller messages me and says “hey, I have the box for this, do you want it?” And I’m like YEAH!!!!!!!! Then she messaged me AGAIN and said “I’m going to be selling the Mission Commander set too, are you interested in that as well? I have the box for it too”. And I’m like “YES AND YES! I ended up getting the Mission Commander for $130 (I think) and both boxes which when I got them had the cardboard inner tray AND the molded plastic trays for the parts and figs! I was DYING!!!!!! lol

Those Rack + Pinions have some of the coolest functionality integrations on these old sets, definitely take a peek at how it was used in the 6986 mission commander ship from the same line (also the blacktron base 6987 uses them well) Shame my store is closed for the time being as I had a black technic rack for sale, looks like the cheapest in the US! (though, ugh, updating my price after seeing this) Very nice outcome from your vintage lot pickup, this set is a gem

Hi, great video! I love that each of the space factions had its distinctive look: colors, shapes, functions. Something I really miss today. With all due respect to star wars - i can recognise the Xwing, the Millennium Falcon and the Tie Fighter. That's it :) I have been following your IG profile, I've had no idea you have YT as well. Never had this set, but always remembered it because of that jail cell build. I always thought it looked like it would make a good monorail station, but I didn't know it transformed like that. Super unique.
