My mom was involved in making the second generation ford GT. She ran the assembly plant it was made at in Dearborn Michigan. To see it as a Lego set (even if it isn't really "her" GT) is a huge deal for her and for me :)

A while back I tried to take the official set for Rey's speeder and shrink it down by one stud... Suffice to say it was harder than I had expected. The entire internal structure had to be redone and the resultant build was a fragile mess. Overall, the final model worked for my porpoises, but obviously the woefully frail design would be unacceptable as an official LEGO set.

What's hilarious to me about this video is that in Forza 6, my signature car that I always use is a ford GT, but in red! Now that I've seen you make this video, I'm going to try my best to bricklink those parts in order to make the car myself 😅

I thought I had that piece in blue, but it's printed with (I believe) a number one, but it might be in a dark blue, it's funny once you find a piece that doesn't exist, lego seems to have everything in every color

Hey, so for those slope pieces just under the flying buttresses, you could use 1×2×2 'cheese slopes', the ones with the vents, I think they have been made in blue. This would also give you the vents.

While I appreciate how difficult it is to mod a set due to limited part selection, you did a great job here! Really like the grill/front end design you got there. I agree with you that Ford blue might look better, but your Ford GT looks super hot in red. I've got a shelf full of Eta-2 interceptors. Half of them are official lego sets and the other half are parallax88 specials. I'd like to make more using more colors but the winglet panels only come in a small assortment of colors so I can only do so much.

I completely understand. I do a lot of functional and still somewhat semi durable city builds in the smaller end of scale in terms of minifig scale, and I strive to also have realism too. Try doing things like building a custom 5 axle mobile crane with still functional boom and posable (not really durable) steering in 6 on 7 wide building, or building a asphalt paver that actually paves decently, is durable, and with lots of detail. I have attempted this several times a come up with a design that has a adjustable screed in terms of width but it does not lift and it still feels a bit big to me. Or try building a telehandler with functional outriggers in 6/7 wide that does not use the pre-molded boom piece and still works. I have done it, but defiantly cannot say that it is done as it is far from done. The struggle is real. 25 hours of work on a mobile crane prove it.

replace technic brick at the back with something like a sideways gold ingot but in red, replace the 2x2 plate on the roof with a 2x2 tile in red, possibly replace the black studded area of the splitter with black tiles but leave enough ground clearence, fill the two single studs deep down next to the rear windows with 1x1 plates or something, lose the studs next to the front window. thats just my opinion of course. I dislike the sight of studs unless used sparingly to replicate things such as bolt heads.

It is crazy at the time of this video that that slope piece has not existed in standard blue yet; since this video, only two sets have that piece in blue. The Creator 3-in-1 Turbo Track Racer - 31070 that came out a few months after this video and the City Monster Truck - 60180 that came out earlier this year in 2018. And they only have two pieces each, making that piece in that particular colour deceptively rare.

Instead of the slope piece, why not use a 1x1 brick, a 1x1 brick with side stud and attach the 1x2x2/3 slope with grill. Those exist in blue and red and are actually useful as it is supposed to be an intake. You would need a 1x1 tile to fill in the gap at the bottom of course.
