Thanks for the tutorial! I noticed that you also have shared the instructions for your Trotbot on your blog. It is something to be thankful of since it would have taken you a lot of time to create these custom walkers. Keep on your best work!

Thank you. We probably should update some of those blog instructions (we made some of them back in 2016.....)

whats the measurements of the legs?
@jackieglade3 жыл бұрын
awesome but where do you attach the motor if you want it motorized?
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
ha, another great question! It kind of depends on the number of legs - if 8 to allow for tank-style steering then the 2 motors could be in the middle (like our Klann, etc. builds), or on outside of the legs? If only 4 legs then probably somewhere in the middle for balance, with a split frame to make room for gears? Or, since the legs can be driven by pushing the robot you can motorize the wheels of an attached chariot, and steer it by turning the wheels. I built a motorized version in Feb - I'll tinker with it a bit more and try to post a video this weekend

is it possible to make it move without any supports? i mean the wheels
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
do you mean a motorized version with just 4 legs? It wouldn't balance well, so would be more like a shuffler than a walker, but some motorized version would likely work

At 2:34 rubber wheels are mentioned for walking on smooth surfaces. I cannot find the part online. Does anyone have a part list for this walker or a part number for this rubber wheel?
@diywalkers78983 жыл бұрын
Hi, I found dozens of these smooth small tires in one of our LEGO parts bins, but I don't remember the source or part #. Approximate ID is 1.2mm, OD is 1.4mm. Alternatively, you could put pins thru the lower holes and wrap a rubber band around the foot for traction, or use part #45590? www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-flexible-rubber-axle-connector-45590

did the build instructions via a movie of pictures seem easy to follow? Would sped up video be better?
@MaxBrix3 жыл бұрын
@@diywalkers7898 I left a comment on your other vid. As to that question, People just want a spot micro, instructions are a needed to reach the goal. Clarity is the only quality people need from instructions. Photos were clear. When the web site came up on the first screen I had to figure out what I was looking at and why but before that happened there were leg paths, wait?... we are scrolling? where are we going?... IS this a tutorial?. You should have it but at the end of the vid. Give a clear Intro - give us what we want before we leave - then give us the extras if we are still there. I would consider chopping off everything before the tutorial. 2:04 is a long time. That should be a follow up vid maybe? I would start at 01:50 and move the rest to a follow up.You can cut a posted vid in youtube studio.

People request a parts list. I include a photo because I am lazy and hope it's better than nothing.

@@diywalkers7898 The algorithm will like it if you add "Boston Dynamics" to your title and description. The word "spot" means much more when associated to the more specific key word.

Thank you so much for sharing your video - you made my day! I love your design with the head, etc. and your iPad control. You're motivating me to finish the motorized version I started a month ago. We don't have 51515 yet....but hopefully soon. Thank you! Wade (and Ben)
