Well that’s true, but I think the best way to do it would be to just print a black stripe. Every legion has used them with a black stripe at some point. Outside battlefront, I don’t recall seeing legion specific markings on them. The important thing is there should be some printing there, because these ones look like they’re missing the lens, since it wasn’t printed on.

Definitely the snow trooper battle pack and the this battle pack have been a step in the right direction and the best since the old clone wars battle packs the era of only getting 2 of the same character and an officer and something else with a a bad build sucked the only battle pack from that era that was perfect was the rebels storm trooper battle pack imo the best battle pack of all time 4 of the same trooper and a solid build for the transport but god battle packs are Turing around

@@bumponalog5001 this is true, but not everyone wants them for obvious reasons. I did buy a couple (dozens). Super battle droids can also different to the Lego ones. The back of each droid from Lego have 'holes' so you can attach stuff to, but the third party ones usually can’t do that which does limit their use

It wasn’t that long ago when we couldn’t even imagine lego would make a 501st battlepack. Now we have two. Minor in accuracies stop these from being perfect but these have to be some of the best clone army builders.

I’m still not over battlepacks being 20 dollars when I used to get them for 10-12 dollars, therefore the fact that a 20 dollar set would rather print a waist cape or shoulder cloth than give us one is atrocious. Especially since those 12 dollar ones included them, it baffles me costs are cut. Even going back to the bad batch shuttle the waist capes were printed and that was 100 dollars… I don’t see myself buying a lot of the new ones tbh

Yes because the plastic shoulder armor and waist capes the original $12 sets included were so well done… in plastic that wouldn’t allow for any posing at all. The cloth ones being anything but a solid color wouldn’t happen, and as a result this ends with a print. Lego produces plastic waste in the name of profit, do you really think they give a hoot?

Individually the problems aren't that big a deal, but then you put them all together. Insane prices, printed waistcapes, awful looking "accessory holes", ugly looking instruction manuals, decrease in quality control including misprintings, inaccuracies with characters that could easily be fixed, and maybe this is just my opinion but some of the designs of the new sets like the new red gunship just look ugly. Yeah it's gonna be awhile before I buy anything new either.

I personally find the original 501st Battle Pack to have the superior builds. Both in playability and display. I just find the spring-loaded cannon on the 2023 501st to be a bit lack luster. Sure the price is cheaper but I would’ve been fine paying $25 for a more fleshed out cannon & possibly better printing on the figs. Overall though, I do enjoy these quite a lot. I was surprised to hear him say that the build for 2023 was better too. While the AT-RT is way too big, and so is the BARC speeder, the value for what you're getting is just so stellar and the builds are really, really good from a play perspective and they at least still look pretty decent from a display perspective.

The new set is an honest 8.5 out of 10. Yeah it’s not perfect BUT it is still really cool and goes very well with all the 501st troopers from the OG set. Hopefully for the next battle pack we get either shock troopers, 327th troopers (we now have the helmet piece for Commander Bly), or a 212th battle pack.

I bought one of the 2020 Battle packs around Christmas time 2020, and at the time, i didn't know all the demand that there had been for one. I was very happy with it. I had never really bought much Star Wars LEGO sets because i had always been more into Marvel. I was glad to get my first 501st troopers and my first battle droids. but now, in 2023, I am starting to get into Star Wars way more, and I am buying 2 of the new 501st battle packs. I am a young teen, (too young for a job), so I've never really had that much money. I am glad that they are releasing a standard battle pack because its better for the younger LEGO fans. I love that you get more diversity of the clones in the new battle pack, but i also loved getting the jet trooper and multiple regular troopers.

As an Australian who has never seen a 2020 501st BP in stock on store shelves EVER, I’m stuck with my one copy of that one, but I did get my hands on two of the magazine foil packs that had a 501st clone. I’ll definitely get one of the new one, and potentially a second, as even though the army will be a bit unbalanced, the foil packs certainly help.

I honestly don't mind having an empty hole and think it's weird people are complaining now but not with Mando helmets or phase 1 clone helmets. I like the fact that if you want, you can put anything on your clone helmets if it'll fit. I think it'd be a shame if a phase 2 rex came with just 1 hole because then you can't put the macrobinoculors on him.

i think the one main gripe people is that the phase 2 clone helmet has two bumps (including the hole) on the side of its head while if you look at the mandalorian/phase 1 helmet, it uses the bump AS the hole, instead of putting the hole above the bump. I personally don’t really care, but i can understand why people would be disappointed

The issue is that they're in the wrong place. On the Mando and P1 helmets, the holes are in the 'ear' part of the helmet and aren't too noticeable. On these new P2 helmets, the holes are directly above where they should be and stick out too much.

From UK, I would definitely agree about the 2020 501st battle pack. In it's earlier days/period, they were selling out everywhere but as time went by, more were being stocked, and soon heavier discounts were coming about. I got 6 unopened all for 30% - 40%, still sitting in my attic, and sure hope to see decent reductions on the 2023 one, like I have seen the hoth battlepack being reduced 25% - 30% off now and then.

I slowly got back to Lego starting in 2020, but now I’m fully back into it and don’t wanna look back. In 2020, my parents bought me two Lego sets for my birthday (Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter, and Darth Vader’s Transformation), and I hadn’t gotten a Lego set since 2016, hence why it came as a surprise. Later that year, I also got the 501st battle pack, and the buildable Grogu as a Christmas gift. In 2021, I got most of the new helmet sets (namely Vader, Boba, Stormtrooper, and Scout Trooper), and for Christmas, the buildable Yoda. 2022 was when I FULLY got back into Lego as I bought my first Lego set with my own money (AT-TE), as well as getting the Inquisitor Transport Sythe, Mandalorian helmet, Luke’s X-Wing pilot helmet, and buildable D-O for Christmas. Looking forward to 2023, I’ll probably get two or three of the new 501st Battle Pack, and probably the new Tie Bomber as well

I absolutely count both sets as being in wrong size. But it's easier to undersize oversized build, than to upsize undersized one. Also, armybuilding is amazing with those. Technically usually squads are broken into 9 people: one commander, five regular infantry man and three specialists. Here we've got ratio slightly changed, but both sets are pretty much perfect to make nice small squad.

On a side note the og 501st was released before inflated prices, if it was released now it would probably hover around $35 retail. But since LEGO didn't increased prices for sets retiring this year the 2020 is a amazing deal. While the 2023 is affected by the inflated prices. But yeah anyways 2023 clones were close to perfection and 2020 is great all around.

I feel that an easy way to fix the officer having a hole on the helmet is to add a flashlight piece. It is an older piece they don’t seem to produce anymore and it wouldn’t look as good since they didn’t make a blue one; though I still feel that it is a simple upgrade to make the figure look better and get rid of the hole

Despite some missing details that would have taken the accuracy to a new level, I still like the look of the figures. The prints on the helmets managed to actually become more accurate than previous versions, so they still fit well as specialty troops in the 501st army. I hope this era is looked back on as the “growing pains” era…ideally lego fixes the helmet hole/print problems and this can be chalked up to a series of sets where they tried to be innovative but just didn’t execute well-overall making good sets that just needed a more careful eye before being released

Lego really should just do 2 a year. Take our money! So many things they could do right now! More Clones, we really need a new Imperial Battlepack...they could do very early Empire (Clones, Commandos, TKs), Andor era, Remnant era, New Republic, Pyke Syndicate, Droid/Sepratist, etc.
