LEGO Star Wars 7151 SITH INFILTRATOR 1999 Set Review!

The 1999 LEGO Star Wars Sith Infiltrator (7151) is an abomination. Its lackluster design, odd colors, and box art deception really hurt this LEGO set for me. This is one of my most harsh LEGO Star Wars reviews to-date. The Darth Maul Minifigure and printed pieces are certainly highlights of the set but I don't feel like that's enough to make it very good...

People use "Rat" as an insult, and Buzzards are birds that just feed off of dead corpses. I'm wouldn't be suprised if that was a more commonly used insult back in like medieval times or something.

I've gotten so accustom to modern Lego, that's it's hard to go back to the sets of my childhood and get the same value out of them. Also, it always bugged me how the Imperial ships looked blue for whatever reason, and would continue to look that way for about a decade until the sets started to focus on accuracy. That's why when comparing Star Wars sets to what they look like in the movies, you don't go back any further than 2010 for that reason. Also. the Clone Wars minifigures used to look creepy for trying to look too much like the cartoon. I just glad the video game adaptation didn't do that, and changed them to look more like the traditional Lego style.

Man I remember getting this set for my birthday as a kid and I adored that you could build Darth Maul's lightsaber hilt with the parts. Thats actually how I had it in my room for the longest time and I no longer have any of the set left except for the two larger printed pieces. This was a good set for the time. It's so weird to see how Lego Star Wars evolved and how people look back on the 99 line. Sure, they aren't as grand and detailed as sets today, but there is a simple Lego charm to them. Also the old school instruction manual and box with the black/sterile promo pictures and the alternate builds are gone, which is a shame.

I collected space lego from 1988-1992 and they looked way better than this. Better curves, colours and so it was a shock to how bad the 1999 star wars wave was.

I love this chonky old version, it would still fit in well as a generic star wars ship in a display. However, no its not great as the sith infiltrator. But i feel like there were much worse 1999 star wars sets.
