The name change bothers me tremendously. The name comes from the fact that Jango Fett once was a slave himself. When he finally escaped, he killed his captives and named his ship as a reminder of what he comes from, hence Slave I (the "slave won")

The other pair of studs in the cockpit are actually there to hold Boba in the position he'd be in with the Slave I landed if the seat spun like the larger models. So no, the seat doesn't rotate with the ship, but the cockpit is deep enough and designed to display the pilot in the landed sitting position.

You won't even need to buy the Boba Fett Minifigure separatily because he'll probably come in another set next year when Book of Boba Fett has come out. So this Slave I has literally no appeal to me. It's fine for the price, I guess, but I'd rather pay $200 for a remake of the UCS Slave I than this set for $50.

Fun fact. You can display the slave 1 standing up if you carefully place it so that the front end juts out a bit. It allows it to ballance on the back and that just making a little leg for it

Your points are exactly what made me buy it, Since all the other Slave 1 sets have been retired, I was not willing to pay soo much money for a Set. And the new one is astonishingly good considering its small price tag and piece count. Unfortunately I have the same downside about the cockpit not filling the whole gap and the missmatch, I might just repaint the front or the helmet on Boba. But for the gap I dont have an idea just yet.

A lot of people complaining about the color on Boba. I’ve looked at a ton of pictures and rewatched multiple scenes and his armor does not match his helmet color in the show. The helmet is lighter. Granted, the disparity isn’t as high as in the set, but it is noticeable. I’m pleased with it, gonna pick it up for sure!

This set, being someone who enjoys stop motion and special effects, having been in a smaller scale makes this worth twice as much since it still looks as good as this does. Smaller scale sets are easier to control for green screen animated things to add in post for flying by in the background or for a dogfight scene

Somehow of all things I managed to find a Battered and Bruised one of these sets in my Walmart in 2024! I hid this ship in the back of the shelves behind the spider tank sets, which I ALSO hid behind the Rebel Yavin Base sets so I could go home and do my research on the set and see if it is worth getting 3 years later. After watching this video, while I don’t agree it’s the most glamorous Slave I, it is definitely a worthy buy. I may be able to get it for a discount as well despite it being all bruised up and 3 years of time being passed

I just got this for my 22nd birthday today and as a Jango/Boba super fan on a budget I absolutley love it! Personally, I really wish they would release another Episode 2 Salve I because I've always liked Jango a bit more than Boba, but this set certainly scratches my itch for having a lego Slave I. I definetly would love to get a UCS model at some point in the future, but currently that's just not possible for me to afford. Although I was pleasantly surprised by all the awesome features included in this set, and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting the nutorious bounty hunter's ship in your collection! It was also a very friendly build, not too complicated or time consuming, so if you're like me and don't get to build legos very often anymore you'll be able to manage just fine.

After building this, it's crazy small compared to other sets. Definitely not worth $50, especially if you live outside the US, as it gonna be more expensive. I do give props to the designers on the building process, especially the odd angle joints.

I actually just bought this set from Walmart for $40. I’ve never owned a Slave 1 before, so I wanted to get it and after building it, I am very happy with it. It is a little smaller than what it seems from the box and also comparing it to Luke’s X-Wing from earlier in the year, it is not at all proportionate. However, even though Lego messed up with Boba’s helmet/jetpack color, I really, really like the Boba Fett minifigure. His facial printing is amazing also, except it seems like they should have made his skin tone color a little paler as what I remember from the series, he looked really pale, probably from being eaten and also living on Tatooine. I don’t know. I give this set two thumbs up especially for $40!!!

For everyone commenting on the Boba Fett helmet: While it may not look exactly like the color palette in the show it's probably because Lego is limited in the colors they can use. If you look closely, the "cheek(s)" area of the mold are indeed a darker green (forest green) than the rest of the helmet as it should be. It's the color of the rest of the helmet mold that seems to be the culprit, which to be fair is not exactly the color it needs to be to match what is in the show. In the show, it is a lighter green, but only just a slightly lighter green (can see @2:51 in the video here). Lego, who may be limited in their available selection of colors to print helmet molds, went with a sand-green. It's accurate in that it's a lighter shade than the "cheek" areas, but inaccurate in that it doesn't exactly match the slightly lighter shade of what is in the actual show. Still I am definitely going to pick this up as soon as I can and this is from someone who already has the 2019 20th Anniversary one. All things being equal, I still think this is a great looking Boba Fett, with a fantastic looking Slave I; all at a terrific value of a price point.

Handle works great for kids making videos without seeing their fingers holding the side. But I agree, this model is small enough to hold with 1 hand. Great review by the way.

Here are some important questions to ask. 1. Do you already own a Lego Slave 1? 2. Do you have a budget? 3. Is there competition with other sets or other things you want? 4. Which one of those things do you want more? If you have a hard time deciding, I recommend that you think about it a bit. Hope this helps!
