I really loved the 20$ duel sets we would get a few years ago. Cheap, decent display, and at least 2 excellent figures. I’m not a fan of these overpriced duel sets, which don’t have great play features and don’t look very good. This one is just a gray slab with a little nice detail, but it’s not worth 55$ to me

Well, more reasons to miss "Constr-action/Buildable Figure" lines like _BIONICLE_ and _Hero Factory,_ I guess. LEGO Sets are meant to be building toys, and that Minifigures usually aren't the main course, the builds are. It's easier to customize a Buildable Figure to your own liking than it is to customize a Minifigure. If only "Constr-action/Buildable Figure" lines weren't so ostracized because "they aren't real LEGO". I hope those detractors are "happy" that stuff like _BIONICLE_ and CCBS is dead, and now we just have these brick-built action figures that are made of "Real LEGO".

Reusable Prints could have easily made those tiles as prints and amortized the cost over their future reuse in City sets on road baseplates.

That Grand Admiral Thrawn mini fig looks a whole lot better than the one from the Rebels TV Show Phantom set that released before this set. The correct insignia badge and dual moulded legs make it better.

Ahsoka being the main character of a franchise and also a very popular Star Wars character really should get her own light saber handles. If they had put exclusive lightsaber handles in this set, it would have sold on that alone, lol.

The figs are great, definitely get it on sale cause figures like Thrawn and the Night Trooper are gonna be EXPENSIVE for years to come. The build is fine, we could've used a second Night Trooper as well but oh well

I've started assigning a value of £5 per figure cause thats around how much the lego magazines cost it makes the prices seem more reasonable. I don't know if lego does that and thats why some of their prices are wild these days but it makes sense for alot of sets. Like this set is £25 of minifigs and £25 for 383 pieces, obviously it doesn't mean you should buy it for example if you only wanted thrawn but it's just how ive been thinking about the RRP lately.

Bear in mind, I'm not much of a SW guy, so my opinion here is largely invalid. But it's hard not to compare this to 2005's Ultimate Lightsaber Duel (set 7257), which feels considerably more dynamic and fun. Gotta love the figures here though. Thanks as always for the review, Jane!

Great review. Thank you for calling a spade a spade with the price. I paid $42usd for it, which is ok. But for the price it should have had printed pieces. The coloured eyes look fine where there is enough of a contrast between the colour and the white fleck. I.e. they look great on Thrawn and Ahsoka but do look bad for the sith yellow and Ezras eyes here. The product team should have pulled up this figure and said no, just do the standard black with white fleck after the prototype was created.

Comparing this to the obi wan duel set, wow, this blows that set out the water, it helps that the Ashoka show had some more interesting settings than the obi wan show.

I could not agree more on the topic of stickers. I’m not against them and I understand the purpose completely but for a $55 play set like this the floor tiles should have been prints, especially because it’d only be two different prints. The pillar pieces are totally fine as is.

I know I’m late to the party here but I picked up this set recently and I think the turntables were done in such a way that when you put the two Lightsaber wielding characters back to back in the middle, and the trooper and green bladed figure on either side, you can control the outer two to clash with the middle two and have it spin freely. If there were gears on the middle there would be too much friction to create that action and you only have two hands to control it with. When done that way I found it a pretty fun play feature.

this should be $45 max. I would pay £39.99 maximum here in the UK. The figures? Great. The build? Good! This set knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything more. It's a bridge between display and play but yeah it's a grey plate. Compare this to the Tournament Battle Arena ninjago set and set quality is obvious. If they're making sets like this instead of the $20 duel sets then I hope they make more that are interesting i.e. episode 9 final duel, episode 8 throne room and more from animated shows etc like rebels and bad batch

I bought this and was 3 pages in to the build and realized it felt like they were just squeezing useless pieces in to it. It only had to be made from 100 pieces and that's all. Took it all apart and threw them in the bin with the rest of my loose pieces.

Sure it's a slab, but it has verticality, good minifigs, and a satisfying shape, unlike the lumpy mess from the Kenobi show. It can actually serve as a display piece. And the stickers and prints can be used for many things. I do want this set, but I'm satisfied with Mandalore Ahsoka, and would rather get Rebels Ezra, and no interest in Morgan or the trooper. so maybe I'll just get Thrawn. idk.

For what is essentially a figure pack, $11 per figure is really bad. I just bought the D&D CMF line on eBay for the same price as this set, and it comes with 12 figures, each of higher quality. If CMFs have a higher value proposition, then you’re doing something wrong.

I just got the set, at first I thought it was overpriced, but when I'm building it, the building technique alone adds more value to it. Plus, you get 5 great figures including Thrawn. So for those of you who think it's just a baseplate, no it's kinda not 😅

Speaking of things consumers don't understand. I'll always be confused about a log sticker/print from the Friends line a few years ago. There's a Safari/Jungle theme in the Friends franchise, and I bought em all because I thought they were neat. There are sets with prints, and sets with stickers for the exact same print. If they already designed the print for the piece, why not use them for all the sets in the theme? The print is a 2x2 circle title with a log print on it. Some sets have them as prints. Others have them as stickers. Literally the same print and color of piece. I just don't get it.

They got the code cylinders right with Tarkin in 75159 so, while I appreciate giving the benefit of the doubt to the designers, they've shown in the past that it is possible. The coloured squares are more important though so I'm glad they at least got those right this time. Probably not buying the set overall (especially with all those stickers) but definitely want to get Thrawn, maybe through Bricklink if the set doesn't get a decent discount.

The round corner pieces require stickers? No thanks. Those should never be a sticker. The fact the round and straight pieces both repeat several times and aren't stickers is just a gigantic big L. No action mechanism for the center is another L. How is this $55???

The build isn't good or big enough for this to be worth it imo. I think in general 50 dollar sets should have 5 minifigs anyway so the amount of minifigs doesn't even help. Also Ezra looks blind.

Lego always says they can’t do prints cause of the budget, yet smaller companies with lower prices and better value manage to do it consistently without bumping up the price. Mega construx basically only does prints and it makes the set quality so much higher and they’ve been doing it for a decade. It is sad to see that Lego printing in general isnt consistent now for mini figs even, how do you charge so much for so little and skimp the quality so much?

i feel like i wouldve been more welcoming to this set if it didn’t look so boring. it’s a flat plane of grey with some black pillars and sparse gold accents and it just does nothing for me. the colours feel lifeless and the structure is probably interesting to put together but it just looks like a whole lotta nothing. minifigs are decent, but cramming all the best ones for this show into a single set this drab really sours it for me. i really wish the budget had been allocated differently for the build, i dont know what would be better but there’s gotta be something.
