The gunship could have been vastly improved if they gave it double doors, replaced the stud shooters with ball turrets (which would save on piece count, and you could move the stud shooters to the top where a missile rack should be) and if they gave us something to do with the hatch below the cockpit. These changes would not have drastically affected the part count. And not giving it double doors off the bat is so confusing. Just why? So many simple changes could have made this the best set of the year. Maybe 2 more clones, a better Fox.

I agree with how changing up the color scheme on the new LAAT was an excellent choice. Also, the in universe Coruscant Guard LAAT doesn’t have clear bubble turrets, so the stud shooter ones aren’t as inaccurate as people say.

LOL! I love the intro! This was such an interesting comparison. I honestly love both sets but the AT-TE definitely takes first place. The Gunship could have at least gotten a weapons rack for the troops for the empty space. It’s exciting to see Commander Fox, but the printed cape and pink-ish chest kinda kills the hype. Let’s hope the next Gunship is improved and we don’t have to wait another decade 😅.

ATTE is definitely the better build, and I think has more play and display value, yes printing on the helmets themselves aren’t great, but I personally don’t have the helmet holes so when it comes to the gunship I just cannot complain about the two shock troopers, Fox certainly isn’t great though. Really liked the skit in the beginning! Well done Ryan! The ATTE is a no brainer decision for me! It has great detail compared to the Coruscant Guard gunship and it is the correct color scheme. It also has a whopping 5 clones and 3 droids compared to the Coruscant Guard gunship with 3 clones and 2 senators 😢. Definitely for me the ATTE is the better buy here!

I missed out on the older gunship sets, so I was super hyped when I found out there was a 2023 gunship. I don't think it's a bad set, but it's not quite what I want out of a LEGO gunship, so I'm probably gonna skip it, or at least wait for a sale. I wish they went with a different style of gunship instead of the Coruscant Guard. The original style is my favorite, but a muunilist or wolfpack variant would be pretty cool too.

AT-TE is the best. Excellent build and excellent Cody. Best bang for your buck for the $140. To me, when you have to modify the build so much to have accuracy it takes a big hit. The minifigs should be a bonus, not the star of the set. They need to just do SW CMFs if that’s the case.

I actually enjoy the helmet holes because they add a massive amount of play value to the minifig. However this is only useful if Lego makes more helmet accessories like the new macro visor, which it looks like the future may hold more of. It is my personal hope that the rumored plain clone battle pack will include some extra accessories like in the og battle packs!

At 4 minutes 20 seconds, the reason that the Coruscant Gunship has no stuff in the front is because they need to be able to fit troops in there, they can fit more in the empty space than in the ATTE, although the ATTE has enough space for 8 clone troopers, you could fit far more standing clones because of the empty space and the 2 large cavities inside the build.

I had no issues with the clones. Helmet holes are not an issue at all IMO. If anything they allow more customization for clones. I also prefer the AT-TE, I just got it recently

Even hotter takes: Helmet holes are completely fine, a 0.2 millimeter diameter hole shouldn’t ruin the entire figure, also they look great with the new binoculars piece. Fox isn’t as atrocious as people say and isn’t the worse clone made,despite its flaws that has, at least they put some decent effort to him, compared to Captain Vaughn, which he had it way worse. Though yes it’s sad he was that close to perfection, but Vaughn was done dirtier than him to be honest. 212th Clone Gunner is pretty decent, idk why I have a soft spot for him, even gave him a grey visor which I think compliments him well.

Helmet holes make the helmet look misshapen and have a detrimental effect on their print quality. If you don't care about it that's fine, but don't expect the rest of us to feel the same. Fox is an atrocious looking minifigure, from the mis-coloured torso print, multiple printing inaccuracies on multiple parts of the figure, and the printed waistcape, there's a solid argument for him being one of the worst figures we've gotten in recent years for sure, though perhaps not of all time. Fox demonstrates almost every issue with modern Lego clon design in one go, and you cannot honestly expect anyone to believe genuine effort was put into his design when whoever designed him clearly couldn't be bothered to double check their work against a reference image. To your last point, the 212th gunner looks fine imo, it suffers from the negative aspects of the helmet holes but that's about it.

Honestly, the existence of the holes, in and of themselves, don't make the figures bad. The original TCW clones had holes in the same spot and I never had any problems with those either. What they should have done is not include that other bump at all. It might not be 100% accurate, but it prevents the "two bumps" problem while still representing the detail...

Ive got the AT-TE so far (need another one though) and i love it, cant wait to get that gunship. Im doing a 212th moc so the AT-TE is good for filler clones i could use (personally i prefer getting custom minifigs with 360° printing). My only issue with the gunship is gonna be swapping all those maroon pieces for orange and black, but at least then ill have more maroon pieces to turn the new R2 set into R4 lol

Genuinely speaking, I like every of these minifigures. I might agree that for the collectors they may seem poor but as an army builder or playset, or peace of storytelling (for example, using it in a stop-motion movies) they are really nicely done. Maybe that is not a popular opinion, but I think that these minifigs are definitely not bad and not ugly. They may be not as properly made as people would like them to be, but I still think that they are good.
