I recently bought this set about 3 days ago at a comic-con thats hosted in my state. I saw it at a both and I spent 75 dollars on it, it also took me 3 days to finish it (due to work) I find that this set to be pretty well done in my opinion, could it have been done better? Yes. Could it have been better to not exist at all? Sure. In the end I'm quite happy with it, and I feel like with a little imagination you could have a real fun time playing with it. I justed wanted to add since I didn't see it in the comments but I think the reason why Anakin and Obi-wan wasn't added was because they were already in the LA-AT gunship set that was released at the same time as this set.

Odell Odell they should have taken the droid out and put Anakin in it, and made a separate Solar Sailor set with the droid, Obi Wan, a couple of Geanotions, and a Clone trooper. They could have Dooku’s speeder doc inside like in the movie. That way you’d have to get both sets to have the full scene

Oh god I really like your videos but seeing this one now makes me glad that you get much better information on all kinds of sets nowadays. By this I mean the importance of it in the film and the right interpretation of the single elements of the set / the movie scene :)

I had just re-watched the scene of the movie twice before completing this review, and re-watching the video today, I still don't see what was wrong other than where I said the speeder wasn't in the duel scene, as technically it was there in the background, doing absolutely nothing :)

+JANGBRiCKS First of all thank you for reading and replying to my hopefully thoughtful enough comment :) I'm sorry but this comment is so long that it only fits into two comments :/ I overall wanted to say that the scene with Yoda and Count Dooku fighting against each other is not the only scene this set was designed for. In the relatively same time the Republic Gunship and the Geonosian Starfighter were released. With the sets all together, you can "replay" nearly the whole end of the film with first Count Dooku on his speeder being escorted by the Geonosian Fighter and hunted by the Republic Gunship and then the fight of Obi Wan and Anakin against Count Dooku in the Geonosian hangar before Yoda finally joins it. This is why I think this set really is an important and really iconic place in the film and it is kind of necessary for recreating the whole end of Episode II, this is what I mainly wanted to point out.

+Yannik Winterbur There were also some small things like Yoda wouldn't kill Dooku after rescuing Obi Wan and Anakin in a different way because Jedi usually aren't allowed to kill defeated enemies because of the Jedi Code. I also think the designer(s?) also made the entrance-path so wide not for the speeder but to being able to better recreate the scene where the Gunship flys right beside it and the Jedi jump onto it before it gets destroyed by the Geonosian Fighter. Originally, my former comment was meant less to criticize your actual knowledge of the scene but more as a compliment for your background-knowledge about lots of things in the newer videos which surprise me all the time, so because I watched the newer ones first, this video seemed a bit under your usual "level" (even if it should sound like that, this is again no criticism ;) ) Maybe I should have pointed that out a bit more. PS: Please don't mind my grammatical mistakes too much, I'm from Germany :)

Your grammar is better than that of most Americans, so no worries there :) I do admit that even today, I look at this Duel on Geonosis set with a bias towards just the duel scene itself, partly because it was such an incredibly cool moment for me, seeing Yoda draw his lightsaber for the first time on screen! Your consideration of events before this, and potentially combining elements of other contemporary sets, definitely makes sense!

I think it's got some awesome play features and Yoda and Dooku are great. I agree that the terrain isn't that great, though it looks nice enough. The set would have been better off minimizing the terrain a bit since we don't need it built up that much, and including the spaceship instead of the bike, and swap out the bug and maybe the droid for the 2 Jedi, then you could have both movie battles or make up your own.

I kinda wish lego did more location-based sets. Sure this isn't too exciting, mostly because Geonosis wasn't that exciting. The lego franchise is almost completely under the umbrella of vehicles now, and as cool as those are, sometimes I want some kind of structure.

100% agree. I remember growing up with some of the great Knights/Medieval brands that Lego introduced, as well as the structure based Harry Potter and Orient Expedition lines. Even the Indiana Jones sets did a decent job w/ some structures. There are a ton of scenes/buildings that could be recreated in Lego for Star Wars fans, but they constantly choose to do vehicles instead. Tons of loss in terms of playability and imagination when you're just pitting vehicles against each other. Having a structure to let storylines unfold/etc. imo is key to a Lego line I want to keep buying. Once you have more than two vehicles, the line gets kind of stale feeling. Not nearly as fun.

I really appreciate this set, I wish it included anaken and obi wan and the solar sailor but besides that, I really enjoy this set, and I don't feel negative or criticizing about this set what so ever, it is unique in its own way, and using what Lego has, which can not be exactly as people want, it really reminds me of the iconic scene from Star Wars episode 2.

I have this set. I really don't like to buy sets just for the minifigs, but I must admit the Yoda and Dooku figures were what I like most about the set. I bought it at the LEGO store for $30, which I think is a much better price than $40.

I find that a lot of these Star Wars sets are marketed for kids to buy it and reenact scenes from the movie. For ships it's not so bad because you can do whatever you want with them; take them to new planets or whatever. But for playsets like this it kind of funnels the play features into very small avenues. I'm still considering this one for the minifigures, but after watching the review I'm really thinking twice about how much "fun" it will be.

Great review. I can't say this is a bad set entirely; it's designed well, but maybe the source material isn't all that inspiring. For capturing the scenes of the battle it does it very well. I like you can "force throw" objects and the jumping mechanic. So maybe the movie itself is to blame. XD I also feel this has great play with the Gunship. You get Anakin and Obi, plus the gunship was used to bring Anakin and Obi there, which is partly why I think they included that platform at the front.

Minifigures are mostly great, the set however, not good. They could have included at least a separate drawbridge for the solar sailor, Anakin and Obi-Wan, as well as a much bigger arena to duel in, with perhaps some exclusive objects which could make the set justify the price. However, Yoda probably couldn't of attempt that move, as moving the two Jedi would probably be more time effective, as he might only be able to move one at a time. Also, dragging them across the floor may have proved more injuries to the two Jedi, who to say again are all ready injured enough, meaning Dooku could have fled. It would have probably just been easier to force push the pillar away, before it collapsed. Great minifigures, yet Lego could have improved the layout a lot more to even tempt me into buying the set..
