Lego Technic challenge: 42039 VS 42056

i just got the green car (42039) today!!!! It was a surprise from my dad. I NEVER THOUGHT HE WOULD USE A $100 JUST FOR ME

awychoi decool 3368 is imitation and it costs about 80 bucks and it's done very well I heard. Normally I only buy original Lego but for this one I'll make an exception.

How about its lackluster features. A steering wheel that extends so far into the cabin that only a paper thin Asian could drive it. The Transmission needed more work because it doesn't work properly all the time. There is no HOG steering so limited play ability. The car is heavy and set too low making the suspension seem useless. If Lego designed this car alone and did not use other manufacturers then this model would likely be $100 cheaper.

Just looking at some old videos out of boredom. I’ve seen many comments here criticising the comparison but I can’t see fault here. I’d say this is quite fair since both cars are pretty much track cars. And Whilst 42039 isn’t based on a real vehicle, it has striking resemblance with the Le Mans racers, and what do you see them doing? Racing on a track, same with the GT3 rs, designed to race on a track. That being said I’d say you this is a fair comparison, only contradicting areas is the way they’re designed (e.g. the different scale, how lego stayed more dedicated to the inner workings with 42056). Let’s also appreciate the fact there actually was a comparison with another track car. Quite a number of videos revolve around the Porsche facing off the Bugatti, which both cars are designed for different purposes. I thoroughly enjoyed this. We miss you as well, we look forward to more!

Well from a technical point of view the Porsche is more realistic and a collecters item whereas the 24hour racecar is just a regular technic set that has specific play features for a younger audience. Great vid though!

About the cab of the Le Mans car the no gauges is most likely intended because real Le Mans cars have there gauges such as speed when to shift and fuel on the steering wheel also the cabs are generally very empty to reduce weight

this is a bad comparison of two models which have nothing in common. the porsche was fully made on the design of the actual porsche 911 gt3 rs. and the racer was just a grand prix car built in a simple way. the porsche has a lot more features because it is a tribute for the real one. also it was already planned to be one of lego's most complicated vehicles. as i said there is no reason why anyone should compare these because it is obvious that the porsche will win.

The thing I hate about my Porsche is the gear box had a mistake in the instructions so it only runs properly in one gear as there is too much friction. Luckily it is on display most the time so it doesn't really matter but it is still annoying.

+TheUKGamer I agree, the error in the gearbox is annoying. Luckily though I knew about it when I built the model, and was able to correct the error during the building process. But absolutely, correcting it afterwards is a nightmare I think😥

How can you compare apples to oranges like you've done in this review? The 42056 has a transmission and steering via steering wheel the 42039 does not. At least if you are going to make a comparison, due so with models that have the same features. Plus Porsche was involved with the development which is not the case with the La Mans car which is far better value then the Porsche that should have had its functions tested before Lego decided to release it. The front of the 24hr race car is not a trunk but a place for the battery box too.

I definitely don't think the Porsche is worth the money, for the same price as the porsche, you can buy the 42039, motorize it with 2 XL motors, buy an SBrick, some extra pieces to hook the components, an M motor for the separate functions, LEDs for headlights, and done, you have an RC technic car, completely kitted out for less than $300.

no hate or anything but, the le mans car is going to have a pretty bland interior and some empty places 1:to make the car lighter 2:to keep the engine cool concidering the fact that they have to last a 24 hour race. the porche is going to have more interior parts because its more of a sports car. even though id prefer the prototype/le mans car i really do think the porche is really cool and i would like to have it too. this is just my opinion.

Comparing a full racecar to a club sport racecar with the capability of daily usage is a bit harsh. I think you left out the space behind the seats of the Porsche. I own a copy of the Porsche and think it's a beautiful set. But it's definitely not designed for being a nice playable toy. I agree with your conclusion.
