Thanks for the review! I'm glad the rerailer is helpful! Though, honestly, I'm surprised LEGO hasn't implemented their own version yet, like you mentioned, I always remember using these rails with my old HO scale models, super usefu! Cheers!

Unfortunately LEGO does not want to invest in trains that much and stay on the "kids toy" policy for trains. I think that LEGO tried to expand the train system with the 12V and the "My own train". However, when those came out, most of LEGO fans were kids/teenagers. If they tried again, I am pretty sure they would get a great response from customers. I would also push further and say that they could open a specific company, under LEGO corporation, to test the idea and don't risk to impact the main LEGO market.

Mate of mine has a 12 foot tunnel and a couple of these inside it would be worth their weight in gold. It would not surprise me if he did the entire tunnel in rerailers considering the effort it takes to fix a derailed train in that tunnel. If Tivis7 gets an order for 28 you will know who its from.

He could just get two of these Lego "railers" that were shown in this video and let the train ride without tracks inside the tunnel. No derailing if there are no rails. The tunnel prevents the train from going anywhere but forward.

These are fairly common with smaller scales, it's a right pain getting N and smaller railed without them. Interesting to see them for Lego, although it's probably useful in areas that are harder to reach and somewhat prone to derailment.

I think it needs a flat/straight section in the middle, that will make it better when you have boggy wheels, that will keep all 4 weeks in line before reintroducing trains to tracks
@BatteryPoweredBricks3 ай бұрын
It would be interesting to see how it could be improved by making it longer but I guess the goal was to make it the length of a single track. Doubling that would make it much more expensive to make and might require a bigger printer.
@jespermller69563 ай бұрын
Well yes it might be a little bit longer, but if you take the design as it is now, cut in half in the middle and add 4cm straight track, then both wheels will be aligned to the track before running back to the track. As it is now one set can run off again before the back set of wheels are on track But remember this is just an idea for you to try out
@satibelАй бұрын
@@BatteryPoweredBricks it's 256mm if 32 studs, most recent printers should be 260+ (though there's a few 180 or 220) so it should be fine, it could also be made as 2 identical parts , so you can use them individually as one way rerailers, or you could have 8 studs half rerailers and put them back to back or put a straight piece in the middle which keeps to the 32 stud grid. also except that you can print less at a time it wouldn't be much more expensive, it is probably like a 20 minute print, and adding a straight piece in the middle would make it a 30 minute print, and cost maybe 50 cent extra of material, and like 5 bucks of print time, so like 10 bucks on top making it 40 instead of 30, which isn't that much extra if you count the 20 bucks shipping. though if you want more it's probably worth investing in an entry level printer.

I probably should have done more testing with different rolling stock. I imagine different wheel arrangements / weight / speed would make a lot of difference. Overall I don't think the design could be improved very much. It certainly works better than any HO scale rerailers I ever had 😅

That would probably work pretty well, but I only bought two and often have several loops at once. If I printed my own it would probably be a different story
@studworld15102 ай бұрын
Maybe I don't see it, but what sense does it make to put it several times in a layout? You will never know where your train will derail and if there are spots where it is often derailing it would make more sense to fix this spots. Putting the piece once, where you usually put your trains on the layout would be the use case for me.
