Hi new subscriber here. Nice to see another relatively new builder on YT. I have only been building since 2021. Building my first "bigger" winter village this year since moving into a bigger house. Look forward to the next video.

Welcome to the channel! I am most certainly a new builder. Each year my winter village gets bigger and it's where I am learning "my trade." Have fun with your village :)

Great video and I can’t wait. As I love your ideas and how unique your winter village will be. I also loved hearing your thought process and how you’ll execute them. For the train track, you could make it a wooden train track, as I agree it’s too much white. Gave video a huge like and keep up the great work

I love the wooden track idea! Alas, I just tiled it all white and I don't have the equivalent pieces in brown to change that up. I will keep it in mind for next year and see if I can find pieces to stock-pile for that project. Thanks for the support and the ideas!

@@CalliesBricks No worries and that’s completely understandable, as it’s still going to look awesome and I can’t wait to see it. Don’t mention it, you deserve it.

Nice Winter Village setup - Looking forward in seeing what you do next with it. Love the Tram it looks great.

Thank you! The tram is my favourite. It’s worth the hassle of incorporating it into the layout to bring the whole village to life. 🚋 🎄😄

@@CalliesBricks For sure - can't get rid of that Tram. Looks really good in a winter setting

Thank you 🥰 I adore the winter season and am really enjoying the LEGO project so far. How’s the Bricklink store going?
@martazedbricks2 ай бұрын
@@CalliesBricks same here, but no winter village this year unfortunately... Bricklink okay, slowly but steady and will do more seriously once I move. Thanks for asking, that's so nice of you ♥️

I bet it takes time to get the inventory and selling reputation - admire the patience to do it. Moving sounds so exciting! Hope you’re happy with your new place. 😁

Excited to watch the progress in the future! Also the Trolley gave me Mr. Rogers vibes! 😊
@CalliesBricksАй бұрын
I love the trolley! I have embedded the track, MILS plated the area, ordered parts I needed for the cliff, and built the fire dragon. Also purchased the post office and the truck to go with it. Working on an update video capturing all of that and hope to publish it this week. :)

I hear you! I couldn’t wait any longer to get going this year. Making a LEGO winter wonderland is one of my favourite things to do. Feels great have started an even better (I hope) version!

For my winter village with train tracks, I used the 15x15 baseplate, it fits the entire curve on one plate. I found it really hard to tack down curves, and used plates underneath so they’d lay flat. Love your videos, inspires me to try making some myself.
@CalliesBricks2 ай бұрын
Using the bigger baseplate would probably have been the smarter, and easier path! I may live to regret using just what I had on hand. Think I like the idea of placing turntables to tack down the corners. It's a quick and part-saving method to get a little more stability. Start making videos! I find it a challenging, but exciting way to see my LEGO progress!

Id ballist the track in white tile for the snow effect...😊
@CalliesBricksАй бұрын
I found more 2x4 white tiles on the PAB wall a couple of days ago, so all set to cover the tracks in that for a packed snow effect!

I wouldn't tack the track down, because it doesn't have to be in order to run the train car. In fact, I would place the track crossties flush with the top of the modular plates. That way it's easier to break the monotomy of the gray later on. A second advantage is that you can tile to you hearts content (onder the curve track sections and slightly beyond) and possibly place moc creations on top of it, which allows you flexibility to shift layout very quickly. Another idea is to convert from an infinite loop to a finite loop (of the train tracks) so that one corner of the complete layout can be build as a straight tunnel and a mountain slope at the same time. All just ideas, really. You know, those pesty curved track pieces rob you (sort of speak) from quality space to model freely. It's a matter of taste and/or perception, though. You could also use the non-tacked track with the already used flex-track (yep, that's the word) to simulate a track breakage. You know, these breakages might happen when modular sections are being assembled! A lovely winter village it's going to be!

Thank you so much for this! I liked the idea of making it flush with the MILS plate, hadn’t thought of that, and tried out some prototypes last night. It looked great once tiled off. Easy enough to add brick to get the height. I tried tacking it down but the was just too hard! As you said, not needed for the tram to go around, feels good though to have someone agree with that assessment 😅 Thought about taking out the infinite route but I really like the movement of the tram. Shame it can’t detect the end of the line and go in reverse, as that would give the best of both worlds. Flex track!!! Noted!! Really appreciate you taking the time, not only to watch the video, but give such wonderful feedback and suggestions. 😊

Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing it develop week-by-week and hopefully, the end product will be more satisfying than the 2023 version. Oddly, my cats think the LEGO room is a space full of toys they want to explore. Silly felines.
