LEGO Zoo Update! Animal Placements & Layout

In this LEGO city zoo update I finish building the MILS plates and work on the placement of the animal habitats! The new zoo offers the animals a lot more space and includes a river! Now that the base construction is done I can start working on the details!

After reading feedback I'll likely be changing this design. The new design will have much smaller enclosures and more varieties of animals. The aquarium will be removed. The glass tunnels and raised walkways will be scraped and I'll come up something new that includes angled walls and walkways.

Maybe consider placing the aquarium somewhere next to the ocean. It will free up space inside your zoo for other animal enclosures or restaurants/gift shops or a building for the zoo keepers/zoo veterinary.

This is a great idea as aquariums are usually found next to oceans or larger bodies of water.

In your last video you suggested that the aquarium would also work in another park of the lego city. If you moved the aquarium out of the zoo, you would have more room to make a larger African enclosure that would reflect the proportional amount if space needed for thos larger animals. Imaging having more elephants, girafes, zebra and gazel. It really would be cool so see the zoo in your city have a proper proportional enclosure for the animals. You would have the room to tell stories in the enclosures as well such as having zoo keepers work with the animals. Just something to consider.

Love the zoo updates! Just a suggestion, I would switch the position of the black panther and the lions. On one side, the black panther's enclosure is quite large for only one animal. On the other side lions have a smaller amount of space eventhough there's 4 of them. This would give lions more space and make the black panther's enclosure smaller.

Love the look of your new zoo! Love the see through walls for the animals enclosure, it just opens it up. it's going to look stunning when complete! Your like a little kid, enjoying your toys and what a treat for the rest of us to enjoy it when you film and show it to us. Thank you for doing this!

It would be cool if the monkeys, Lions and birds have a bit of a carved in cave in the mountain were they rest and hide away from the people if need to!! Having some black bears on the maintain is a nice way to expand the zoo and give a strong change in the environment for the visitors.

Hi Bricksie. The plans for the City Zoo are awesome. The sheer size of the zoo is incredible, and will really lend itself to good balances between trees, rocks, creek, foliage, and of course the animals. The wild bears on the mountain is an exciting new concept, and with the lovely new trees Lego is producing, this area will be stunning! Thank you for the lovely content of this video.

I would consider making your walkways brown.. too much grey tile in your city in general. Also maybe move the aquarium to the city itself? Ex: Ripleys aquarium in Toronto is right in downtown.. also. Maybe your elephants and things like giraffes etc should be more in open space with a barrier yes but not a raised glass viewing platform (perhaps there is a barrier with the water running along side the barrier on the inside and then the elephants can use the water too. Never seen elephants behind glass.

There will probably be a lot of DBG in the mountains behind the zoo so doing the walkways in other colors would be a nice contrast.

I think it looks great & can't wait to see how the mountain integrates with the zoo & rest of the city...I believe the Bricking Panda has some great tutorials on mountain & rockwork that can give some inspiration for U'r mountain ⛰️ range...he's has an Italian inspired city theme that's built into cliffs & his custom works are amazing. I believe seeing his design esthetic will boost U'r creativity in ways to keep U'r impactful imagination going which I enjoy seeing....much luv to U, Mrs.Bricksie & the beautiful twins 😊

I am loving the zoo and the rest of the city! But I think that you should add one or two base plates to the back zoo and then put something like the aquarium or a space for some sort of animal which has mountains as a habitat higher on the mountain like the mountain view observatory and then make a path up to the attraction again, like the mountain view observatory. Just a suggestion.

Just saw your redesign comment-- I think it looks decent as is, but I do think you might be suffering a little with the sheer scale of your new city and trying to fill it in asap. Like, it should be more a case of designing specific enclosures for each animal based on existing zoo pictures or memories, placing and iterating on each of these rather than necessarily coming from a top-down approach, which I appreciate is the more tempting way to go about things given how much more space you're trying to fill. Personally, I guess I think there's no rush, isn't it actually better if there's still tons left to expand into years from now?

My local zoo has the most beautiful vegetation walkways to animals enclosures. For example on the way to pandas you walk through a bamboo forest. And at the gorillas they have a wooden fence and a moat around the enclosure so it's more like a natural environment for the animals and people.

You can use 1 enclosure for more animals. In many zoos the zebra and giraffe and flamingo are in the same spot. Monkey island with fish around it etc. More animals on the same space

What if you shift the aquarium to the mountain wall and the penguins could be upfront next to the seals and the. The front would face towards front as well. Love the black bear idea too I had that exact same thought. It's looking great bricksie keep up all the great work.

Greetings from Australia! You might want to put some sort of barricade or barrier at the end of the walkways so the people don't fall off the edge. This may involve making the fences double height in some places.

I think with all the extra space you can really work the enclosures into the land, like a real zoo. The raised walkways are great, especially for big animal enclosures like elephants. I think you could reuse your curved walls with the windows built in for smaller exhibits along a curving path, like in Animal kingdom at Disney

You could make enclosures bigger by combining animals, such as removing the walk way between the elephants/giraffes and the crocodiles. Neither is a threat to each other

Pretty steep for a wheelchair ramp bro....plus, you should change the lions and pandas. Lions need more space and since you only have 3 pandas, you should have them in the smaller area... looks good though...but I think people are right. The aquarium should be its own entity.

I live in Philly where we have like a big major city zoo obv, and this is so on point👌🏼, like all the enclosures, it’s really authentic to an actual zoo, love it👏 it’s such great use of the lego animals too, lego themselves should make something like this a “line”, where they release bunch of sets that are enclosure with animals for it, and you can collect them all n modular them together into a whole zoo, would be genius way to get “city” people, buying “animal” type sets 🤷🏻‍♂️

The zoo near me has a raised viewing area for a Giraffe feeding area, and kids just love to feed the giraffes. You should add that bump out for that enclosure.

If the aviary goes over the creek, then there probably needs to be some form of grate under the arches where water enters/leaves.

The walkway by the aviary should be built in so that you can see into the aviary from the walkway. Just that one corner needs to be modified.

New zoo is coming along great, love the design and vision you've come up with, but I think the expanded enclosures are too large. The old ones were a little cramped for certain creatures, as well as too large for others, like black bear and panther being you only had 1 of each. I'd recommend expanding the old enclosure size maybe 8-10 studs max. Remember, there are many new animals such as tigers, gorillas, red pandas and I'm sure Lego will continue to produce new animals so it would be nice to keep space for future releases. As for the aquarium, I like seeing it in the zoo. Think of the entire area as a showcase for all the Lego animals. I know traditionally they are separate attractions but as with everything you're doing.... its Lego and doesn't have to be realistic. I know right now you feel you have unlimited space, but it will fill up and full in much quicker than you realize and you'll be needing to remove or change things to make room for new idea's. Keep up the great work!

have the crocodile water extend underneath into the the elephants.. EDIT: after some thought.. All the water should be an extension from the waterfall. I dont think he birds need water, move it to the Lions
