WMATA Kawasaki 7000 Series Updated Door Chime

The new door chime is a temporary measure saying “This is a 7000 Series Train” to help blind people board the trains due to a spike of blind people accidentally falling in between cars (where the chains are most likely in between the A cars). This is only temporary until the chains can be fitted in between the cars. This was recorded passing by PG Plaza station.

Also it didn't warn people that the doors were closing because it took too damn long for the computer voice to make an announcement. And the creaking is terrible on some of these cars

That was weird. I've never heard the announcements go like that before. It's never said, "this is a 7000 series train" before. Also, it didn't say "doors closing" or "doors opening"

yeah this was a older one since the gaps in between cars were a safety hazard for blind people. they got rid of it after new barriers were installed

It Used The Say This is a 7000 Series Train. But in 2021 It Said Doors Opening This Is A Yellow Line Train To Greenbelt When Boarding Move To The Center Of The Car. The Next Stop Is College Park University Of Maryland

That train is messed up, it skipped “step back, doors closing” and the doors shut before the recording finished!

It mostly because less people boarded our train (because a green line train was in front of us) so the operator could technically just shut the door after the required few seconds thus cutting the automated announcements to only the first few lines

@@DCTransitFilms That was a glitch in the programming on the 7K that allowed operators to bypass the doors-closing message entirely by pressing the door open button and then the door close button one after the other. The glitch has since been fixed, so now when the doors start to close, it will always sound the chime and make the closing announcement. Considering that the operator also used the "Talk PA" button to skip much of the first part of the announcement (that doesn't work anymore, either, following a restructuring of the announcements), I suspect that the operator knew about the closing bug and did it intentionally.

There was a green line train in front of us that already picked up most the passengers to Greenbelt so there was no point for this train to stay at the station long enough
