@CheeseyStudios at first i was sad when i heard it wont scale with the Saturn 5 but the platform gives such an easier sense of scale. When you notice the doors and the elevator up top and the stairs, it really puts into perspective just how massive it is. Inna 2hay that the saturn 5 didn't quite achieve, unless you put the astronaut next to it
@Sauci55on5 ай бұрын
Hm, I thought it was gonna be bigger, but the size makes sense considering that it also features the whole launchpad . Still, Saturn V looks not only taller but much more detailed and pretty I think, and the build experience is probably better too (speaking about the rockets only of course). One detail that is an improvement on this rocket is the escape tower system apparently, nice!

I totally get why they scaled it down, but it unfortunately made some details really hard too look past imo, and the fact that almost all of those small details on SLS are stickers is such a bummer. relatively minor nitpicks tho, the rest of it looks great.

I wonder if 5 years or so down the line they'd give us just a standalone rocket honestly. If they continue to use it for the Artemis missions, I wouldn't be surprised!

@@CheeseyStudios Especially if the crewed lunar landings take place within or after that stretch of time. It would make a lot of sense to revisit SLS even after the first crewed landing of Artemis since starting with Artemis 4 (as currently planned), they'll retire the current second stage in exchange for another. IMHO the Saturn V is still one of the best LEGO sets of all time. Especially the diorama part and the possibility of simulating the transposition, extraction and docking maneuvers for the CSM and LEM add depth and educational value to an otherwise awesome and impressive set. A launch pad would have been great from the start and a no-brainer for LEGO to make profit off. The SLS/Artemis looks great, just a pity that so many of the decorations are achieved by stickers.

@CheeseyStudios just looking at the dimensions, I thought it would look pretty silly, but I didn't realize that Saturn V would dwarf it THAT much. The failure of LEGO to have released the launch tower for the Saturn V was a big fail on their part, as many of us bought MOC versions.
