This is the Barricaded Strip Mall by the way, you can definitely make this base better but having the extra outpost from the Satellite Dish mod for some extra resources coming in, or having offsite beds if you have a 8+ community.

Still playing SOD2 and this setup is pretty similar to mine. Large slots: Staging Area, Bunk Bed, Lounge Area Small outdoor: Watchtower Small indoor: 2x Hydroponic, Workshop Outpost: 2x Med, 2x Ammo, 1x Bed, 1x Fuel Pretty much balance everything out.

The Mysterious Wandering Traders can sometimes be from The Network or Red Talon and can provide rare items, like firearms, mods, etc. I prefer the Fertilizer bag on my hyroponics since it gives 50% more food without having to use seeds. Then I can always seed them if I want. Moving to the mall with a sheriff leader is not very optimal. It works better with a Warlord or Trader. There are a total of 3 large, 3 small indoor, and 1 small outdoor slots, making this the most ideal base for long term survival. I am currently setting up my two long term games with 1 being a Warlord and one being a Trader, both will be on this base.

People have this game all wrong! There is no “best base”. But there is a best community. You build your base based off the community you have to make up for what they can’t or don’t provide. There are traits in the game that survives provide along with the bonuses from each specialized skill that nullify the need for certain facilities. I have one hydroponics that feeds nine people and I get an extra 3 food a day with only one food outpost. I also have two home outpost and a basic bed slot that holds three and still have an extra 2/3 beds left. Moral of the story is your community determines how easy it is to keep things up and running.

Hansi Hans boons help out too. The one boon that helps a lot is the builder Bc it gives you water and electricity in every base automatically.

I’m on the baseball field and I have a pretty much self sustaining base running a staging area, and a solar power plant with an open slot for the large slots (2,2,0). I rotate in a trading depot or auto workshop based on what I need. The staging area negates ANY upkeep costs (ex. -2 materials for an upgraded storage unit). Then for my small slots I run two hydroponics, infirmary and a workshop. Most of my “sustainability” just comes from swapping in and out mods and seeing what boosts and replaces needs. Then with the help of that one mod (I forget the name) that you can buy from the network. It adds an additional +2 outposts, even if you have 5 used up. I used 6 to fill in the rest of my negative resource uses, and leave a spare for when I’m looting and can’t travel all the way back just to dump my individual items. It saves space in my trunk so I can come back to base with full rucksacks. (Keep in mind, I have a trader leader so I can basically trade my extra food or any rucksacks for what I do need, I make 6.5 food a day for which I sell for profit.

i have the same base and had a similar setup as yours. until fuel became an issue. - I used warlord to build spartan barracks - ditch the other bed, use extra space to build still. (can convert excess food to fuel and provide water without fuel, just need to click every 1hr) - ditch water outpost free up fuel. - max outpost to 6, only need 2 fuel outpost to cover power. can use other 4 spots for add beds without material cost or meds - there will be excess food, so you can switch to herb (meds) or covert to fuel with still - (optional) buy as many vehicle mods you need. ditch the the autoshop, build solar (not more fuel cost) and boom. self sustaining base

*Anyone want solid advice?* Instead of being too concerned how about ya'll save yourself the pressures and beat the game ASAP as *BUILDER* (leader). Your water and your electricity will be provided for free for your next runs. To beat the game ASAP - Soon as you start settle into your first base then drive around to all *Cell Towers* to cover ground and *Plague Hearts*. Kill all plague hearts with a person you want to be HERO (ie builder, trader etc) as that will advance your character really quick. Best weapon to destroy one plague heart is the AK with one full mag or the Auto shotgun with also one full mag. Lifes so much easier. I'll also recommend beating your next run with a *TRADER* as you'll be provided 4000 influence on top of your builders perk for your run after that. However, you're only allowed 2 legacies per campaign.

I would recommend to swap the beds for another hydroponic and the food outpost to beds. Food outpost = 1 food per day, hydro = 3 minimum. Bed outpost = 2 beds, base beds = 2 (not upgraded). Same cost but 2 more food!!

There's another model for the command center that let's you have 2 additional outposts. It can only be found via trader, but only if you have a trader leader but even then it's pretty rare. I only seen it once.

You need survivor with the 5th skill to be fishing and lichenologist. +2 food/day and +2 med/day. You dont need food/med outpost and just one hydro is way enough

If you play through and complete legacies, you get Amenities from a Builder (base-wide power + water) and daily supplies from the Sheriff (random guns, ammo, snacks, meds) - imo the best two because of continuous effect and Amenities frees up two outposts previously required for water/power - and you save on needing fuel. Network signal booster +2 outposts; soil enhancer +10 max health for all survivors with farm or hydroponics (use hydro with a group member who knows utilities that way you only use a small slot indoor/outdoor grow and seeds to boost food output tremendously); training gym with either free weights for +10 max health or all-in-one workout machine (rare if found) for + 5 health and +5 stamina bonus. No need for shooting range if all group members are already maxed out on shooting (most sheriff leader types carry Firearms Training anyway) Build a staging area if you have a free large slot (it almost eliminates daily requirements for materials needed by other base facilities). Auto shop is kind of a waste after building repair and upgrade kits, just tear it down after building your upgrade kits; it adds to the noise level and zombie threat. You can build repair kits in the workshop with an auto mechanic in your group anyway. Level 3 your workshop and just use facility mods for ammo creation and CNC mill for materials to parts; saves on using your storage facility which only converts 20 or 25 parts per material whereas CNC mill produces 90 per 3, only downside is the minimal noise in exchanging the facility mods for your workshop and installation time, so do this on quests or runs, so you're not waiting and can manage your time more effectively. Forge/Machine shop are kind of useless; handmade suppressors, chokes, and brakes are a step above improvised and with the abundance of weapons in-game, just detach and swap mods. Hope this helps newer players.

First of Best is subjective. Hydroponics is a lot more sufficient way of providing food. In the beginning, you could use them. You are correct about water and electricity those are a must-have. But you overlooked artillery strike which is a must if you're doing a warlord playthrough. But you missed one having a coffee shop as an outpost. So surprisingly, coffee is one of the most valuable resources in the game just because of the way it lets you restore your max stamina on the fly.

Autoshop is a waste, since you can buy the upgrade kits. Rather have a Sniper Tower or a Trade Depot if you have a trader leader. (Trade Depot > Sniper Tower > everything else) If you have bed troubles, you have too many community members. Better exile useless members than waste a valuable slot. The outposts however, is on point and can't be better. Power, Water, Food and Meds.

Get 4 bed outposts, a still for water and fuel, lounge, staging area, solar array and 2 hydroponics (1 food 1 med) with mods. Workshop. Use other outposts for your specific needs.

There's a command center mod that gives you two outposts instead of one. I wish you could put more mods on a facility. I've found three antennas out in the field and a bunch of different storage mods.

Beds don’t matter. I thought they did for sometime until I watched a video so I started to not build beds or anything of that nature. And. It affected nothing it might have some effect on morale but nothing to worry about. Now non of my spaces are wasted on beds

Container fort!! That's the best in my opinion. It doesn't have any built-in facility.. So you can build anything you want. Has four side watchtower. 8 built-in beds. Juggernauts can't get in.

Good tips, i think i'll build another Hydroponics instead of a Still for my base ... but i really have a question regarding outpost. In order to obtain the benefits of an outpost, after clearing all the zombies, do you just claim it and if you decide to search the outpost and take all the resources from the outpost will you still be getting any resource from it? ... oh ya, liked and subscribed!

Also. As an edit. Using bed space in your base is a waste. If you do the math, using your outposts for beds when possible is such a better use of space per slot. The only time I'd maybe recommend using a bed slot in your base is a small sheltered 2 slot with the White Noise Machine for +10 morale on all

There is a 3,500 influence base in all cities. It's either the Strip Mall, Baseball field, or the one from the third I haven't personally found yet.

its obvious this guy has no idea what he is talking about, had to stop the video after 40 seconds because food and meds are so common its not even funny, also its obvious this guy hasnt done the builder legacy which when you equip that boon gives you free permanent water and power, also farms and hydroponics can make both food and meds to an INFINITE supply. staging area drops your material consumption to zero, thanks to builder boon your fuel consumption is also zero and boom. all you need is ammo. your food and meds income can be way higher than what you consume and you can use meds to make bulk blood plague cures for infinite influence and your SIX outposts can be whatever you need. beds or ammo are my usualls and maybe sometimes fuel or materials.
